It doesn't matter, the bastard will get away with his crimes because as soon as a republican president comes in they will pardon trump. I've given up hope that he will be held responsible for any of his crimes. He even said he could shoot someone and get away with it and it's true. He can do anything and get away with it. It's so frustrating.
I've argued that although its now very likely that trump will be indicted for MULTIPLE crimes, that Biden should pardon trump (for the federal crimes).
Empanelling a jury will be next to impossible for trump... There are way too many "true believers" out there who could hang a jury. And a hung jury in any trump trial would be a disaster for the country, and give the trumpers permission to tear down any remaining norms.
As distasteful as it will be, Biden should pardon trump, in exchange for trump going away for good and being barred from running for any office ever again.
Is that a satisfying solution? Of course not. But it IS the best solution for the country, and the best bet to get trump out of the picture for good.
This is just more of the same. Wasting tax dollars to make certain groups of people feel good or bad. We are all pawns

I don’t see Garland “overriding” any recommendations to indict/not indict by Smith. Garland is looking for confirmation of a conclusion I believe he’s already arrived at.
I hope you're right. I believe they have enough evidence already, but Garland is doing the professional thing. It is the DOJ's job to remain independent, so as to avoid the appearance of political prosecution. If it works out like I hope it will, this may give some legitimacy and "teeth" back to the Department of justice. We already know what Drumpf enablers and the right wing media will say. F them.

I'm sure Jack Smith is aware of the attention a case like this will draw, and if he ever decides to write a book one day on the cases he has prosecuted, this would certainly be a feature in that book, whether it is a win or lose situation, and it will most certainly help book sales. I only mention that because everyone seems to be writing books these days, if they have ever had any dealings in Washington.

If someone writes a book that I don't find inspiring as a person, I certainly wouldn't buy their book. On the other hand, someone like Jamie Raskin who is brilliant, and has suffered life altering experiences, I believe has something to share, and I find his book captivating. Ari Melber has an interesting take on things as well, and is very knowledgable.

The AG decides over Jack Smith's case, so WHAT'S the REASON for giving it to a Special Prosecutor?!
It is for a second independent opinion. If Jack Smith arrives at the same conclusion as the DOJ then it gives the Republicans less to complain about, but if Jack Smith finds Trump not guilty but Garland proceeds anyway, then the DOJ would lose credibility and the Republicans would complain like hell. Garland puts himself in this position even though he doesn't have to, in order to have everyone acknowledge that it is a fair unbiased judgement.

In Arizona a candidate running in the election was in charge of counting the votes in her own election, and it took her over a week to count them. In Pennsylvania a corpse was elected to the State House of Representatives. The United States shouldn't even call it's self a democracy anymore. Saddam Hussain had more valid elections than we do.
