February Ride to Lewistown, Pennsylvania on my Vespa GTS

I took a ride today on my Vespa GTS from Zion to Lewistown, Pennsylvania and met my wife there for lunch and to do some exploring. We had lunch at the Laskaris Restaurant, open since 1921 and famous for their chili hot dogs. Then we headed across the diamond to The Crooked Shelf, which was the main attraction for my significant bookworm, a.k.a. wife. We tried to snag some coffee at the East End Coffee Company, but-alas!-we showed up too late, so headed back across town to the Dunkin Donuts in Burnham. We then went our separate ways and I came home via Siglerville and the Millheim Pike.
What a beautiful February day! I checked the temperature at one point in the mid afternoon and it was 46°F (8°C).

Great video! It is rather daring to take a scooter on the Siglersville-Millheim pike in February. I have been through there with my Helix, but not in the winter. It was kind of a rainy the day I did it and my view from the lookouts was not nearly as nice as yours were. Also, a lot more hi-way on the ride down than I generally like to do. I am still uncomfortable on limited access roads. I really appreciate the way you put place labels in the frame. Very helpful. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the feedback, Tim. This was just my second time taking the Siglersville-Millheim Pike, my first being a little over a month ago. I’ve enjoyed finding some alternative routes over the Seven Mountains. I found the dirt roads to be in pretty good shape, especially considering the time of year. I did see some small piles of leftover snow in spots, but it was limited to the sides of the road and in areas that don’t get much sun.
I appreciate you mentioning the labels on the screen. I’m glad that it helps, and your comment encourages me to make sure I’m providing context to what is happening on screen.

Riding, diner, bookstore, and an afternoon with your wife. A perfect way to spend a spring day. Even with the cafe closed for coffee. Luckily there always seems to be a Dunkin Donuts around.
And you took the long route across the Siglerville Pike. You are really punishing the GTS!

Thanks, Steve. The weather was beautiful and it was a great day all around. I think we may have stolen one from Old Man Winter. Hopefully he won’t punish us later.
Oh yes, I try not to be too hard on the GTS, but the itch to explore gets the better of me and off we go!

Thank you! I’ve done very few upgrades: I have an LED headlight, custom seat cover, and a cup holder for my frequent stops at Dunkin Donuts! ☕️ 🍩
