06:25 i believe the reddish colored damage for the heart indicates that the damage did not come directly from the bullet itself, but from the cavity the bullet produced around it. you can also see the cavity in the same reddish color as a cone shaped object around the bullet path. i also believe the larger cavity produced by this caliber is what makes you lose so much more meat.
The 338 does way more damage than a moose can withstand. Over 6000 where a moose I think has a maximum around 5800 or near that. It would be ok from a long way off perhaps but not your average 50 to 200 mt shots. When I get a new rifle I just use the hunter mode and aim the rifle at the letter box and it tell you how much power you have at a close range.
Lapua doesn't sound like Lapua. COTW is much better when it comes to weapon feel. If you are using a larger caliber you can hear that you are using it.
Yeah... And the "recoil" is also unrealistic.. And the aiming also.. Who can aim that fast and clean with a 10 pound gun??? Cotw is much more realistic in that...
it goes always like this : some things are better in cotw, somethings are better in woth, i keep on playing both, but sofar i do like woth, gameplay i found better.
The sound design is terrible in general in Way of the Hunter. The guns aren’t realistic at all and very underwhelming. The atmospheric sound is generic. There’s no player feedback sound either. Way of the Hunter looks better than COTW and there are a couple aspects to the animal systems that are unique but overall, at this stage, Call of the Wild does the actual hunting and shooting better.
338 for nothing shorter than 700m and tier 6. Win mag tier 6 no shorter than 250m. 308 for tier 6 250m and under. Always double lung and heart if you can. Another tip is you can have the same scope on primary and secondary rifles.
As Lee_M said, the "tier" system is kind of arbitrary, just like in real life, what really matters is the energy imparted on the target. All animals have a recommended Joule range. Eg. At up to 25 meters you can use the level 3 Steyr Scout on White tail, but at further ranges you will have to use a heavier caliber in order to deliver enough Joules on target.
Don't worry too much about the tiers, worry about the energy it has when it strikes the animal. The .308 can ethically take down the big game animals like moose, elk, red deer and black bear despite being "only" tier 5, at the same time, it can take down medium game like white tails, mules, boar, etc. That's why it's expensive.
Its intresting that this gun even overkills in the first place. To be fair i havent been to the other basegame map yet but i cant se there being an animal that would require more impact energy then a moose to kill. Maybe Bison or Hippo if they get in the game as DLC but looking at a list of animals the biggest looks to be the brown bear on the 2nd map and it should fall under the same tier as a moose. I havent bought it yet in my save but if they havent changed this number then that would be a very dumb thing to have in your game were u try to heavily go into ethical hunting. Also no ethical hunter is gonna fire at an animal 400m away just to get the bullets impact energy to go down and instead cause a drastical increase in miss/wounding the animal instead.
He's losing so much because he is too close with that rifle. From what I recall a headshot did not lose any meat, but I also wasn't overpowered when I made the kill.

I have been watching your streams since you started and I am confused. You keep saying how much you like it because it is just what you have been waiting for, a proper simulation over TheHunter COTW's arcade style gameplay. You tell people that you cannot compare them because they are completely different ends of the scale. Yet you have been hammering animals out just as fast as anyone else would do in COTW. If you truely wanted a proper simulation, then why don't you stop and think about how easily you are finding them and give the devs some feed-back on how arcadey it is. Maybe then this game may end up like a proper simulation instead of a COTW Clone
from the livestreams ive watched this is probably 2-4 hours in the making. at the end of the day its a game and it needs a balance between simulation and gameplay.
i think at ranges like 300-400m and above this gun might be very useful, especially on red deer in the European reserve
time to YEET some deer at 500 yards with the 338
Might be better to use the 308. It's more precise and you won't lose any meat while having decent penetration 👍
Yeah man the 338 shreds the hell out of deer and gives you less money per kill. Do it to moose though.

Can’t wait. I preordered it yesterday. Looks like a good break from fs22 for a bit
Hey zaggi, do u think the animals are a bit small? I imagine a moose at 80 or 100 meters would look quite a lot bigger than it looks in game.
.338 win irl is a long range ,not short range. Reaso on short range the speed and energy blood uits too much meat stresses on it.
Silly question how you put the red mark after t shot ?🙏🙏 xbox
I hunted a chamois at 457 meters and its a beast at long range
Damn...That first shot
Im gonna use 338. for mature 1 star wild boars 450m+ shot and red deer and 308. for trophies

As long as the caliber you're using is within the recommended joules range, it doesn't matter what tier your rifle is.
