That's one of the lore bits I actually liked out of the Nosgoth game. Turns out Kain didn't kill them, he had Raziel cast in then bounced never to be seen again. Most likely used the Chronoplast to skip all the way to the day of his return. And Raziel's kin were killed in the clusterfuck resulting from internal power struggles and external war against the human uprising.

Great game. Good soundtrack, dialogue, graphics, mechanics, etc. Except the pathfinding. Holy shit were the levels, and some in-between level areas a real pain in the neck. Specifically the route to Rahabim territory, though that may just be down to a lousy hint. Still love the game, just wish it had ways to get your bearings better.
I agree, yet I feel like the mind breaking and bending fits into the theme of the game. Everything is confusing or an optical illusion. That being said, it's easy to get hopelessly stuck without a guide. It's like the Legend of Zelda and Silent Hill 2&3`s Hard Mode had a baby.

Kain deserves to have his corrupt evil legacy destroyed. At the hands of Raziel. A Raziel that knows every trick about Kain. That if the soul reaver breaks. He’ll die and be reborn again over and over and Kain just laughs manically knowing his sons’s fates. Time for your immortality to end Kain!
If you believe that, then you understand nothing. Kain isn’t the cause of the corruption, merely the Symptom. His sacrifice wouldn’t have saved Nosgoth. All it would have done is prolong the Nosgoth’s slow death. To save it, the true source of Nosgoth’s corruption must be eliminated, and Kain, with Raziel as his Sword, is the only one capable of doing that… something he had no hope of doing.
