Mooonrise is such a cool set. I think I do like most things in the set, if not competive at least fun to play. Stand outs for me: Stands out for me. Lycavoid, Nitevenom, Aardbud line, Oystillery, the lunar phases, High Tide, Hurricane, a few others I don't feel like typing.
I think the best Lunar deck will be a moshpit of Lunar/Suppression cards. Pulveroar will be a staple (get fukt, PTA) and Necrolith will be everything. The generics/staples are meta warping, too. Spoiled Fruit is basically anti-time card. Moonrise slaps. 7/10
Been waiting for a vid like this! If I have one beef with Moonrise it’s that it feels kind of a rich-get richer set. Lunar’s gonna go crazy, and Thunder Earth and Water, which are already the best types in the game, get the rest of the best cards in the set. One exception is the Cockaray line though, the first two are just Good Dudes and the third does threaten ungodly amounts of damage.
I find these kinds of videos pretty fun to watch. I don't agree with everything but it's always nice to see the different perceptives people have on the cards.
I don't typically have strong feelings about set reviews, but for Elestrals, I really like this kind of format. Got me really excited for the set's release.
Blizzstrix is personally the card I’m looking forward to most out of this set. It’s probably win-more in a deck that can already windmill slam a 6 or higher every turn, but I don’t care. I love the idea of being able to mill a bunch of guys, recur resources with Khione, and smack down a big idiot every turn. Plus it’s a 3-stage ascension line where all 3 stages might be genuinely playable.
I'm whelmed by set reviews. Bits aside, I really appreciate videos like this. It's hard for me as someone who isn't really playing the game to understand how good cards are so it's helpful to get an idea of which cards are good.
Moonrise is the set that will definitely get me into the game. The elestrals in this set intrigue me. I want to try Voldusk/Lunar control, Insect nexus, and Jawblin/tsunami control
Corviskull kinda reads like Astrabbit for mill decks. Sending one from the top three of the deck means that you can simply choose the best possible target. Plus you get to put a card from your underworld on top of your deck, which could be another guy you want to mill or a rune that you milled/activated earlier.
I think the big thing on my wind jinn is that it just hits if you combo with any other foretell and it just hits, hell most foretell effects it turn into draw one and ascend for the next 3 turns. It also seems to me there will almost always be 3 good targets for tornajinn too, just going gorgons, ambro, thing you situationally need. It basically always going to be live to give you a good card at minor cost. Really the only flaw is being the 2 defense.
I currently have strong feelings towards set reviews. And this set review has made me feel more feelings than other ones. For clarity these feelings are either positive or negative.
The current Lunar Phase deck that myself and Caleb are testing is 3x Voldusk 3x Werepup 3x Astrabbit 2x Geist 3x New Moon 3x Waning Crescent 3x Waning Gibbous 2x Full Moon 1-2x First Quarter 3x Ambro 3x NoG 10x Flex Generic Slots The deck feels fucking absurd, it most likely wont be the best deck post-Moonrise without a banlist, but it will almost certainly be a contender you should be prepped for
I feel like storm is going to be a card double for ever lived in The sideboard but will actually never be cast. Because it’s so good to the point that your opponent would have to be an idiot to fall for it so it will just change everyone’s play style instead Until they can confirm they don’t have to face it
I get that Volumbra and Volclipse are like, unplayably bad, and you have to play bad cards for them to work. However they look really cool and I really really really really want to play them
You need to read Aardbud properly, you have to disenchant from an insectoid to special ascend, which it is not, so you would have to play the insect you search just for disenchant fodder for the ascension
I think theres a very funny and very bad idea for an Armadawn burn deck that mostly plays the solar nexus package but pivots hard into position changers like Eddy (either offensively if needed or, targeting your own armadawn) Altar of Stars, tsunami etc. Probably bad but solar burn is funny enough to justify the concept I think
I want Volclipse to be good so badly cuz the effect is very funny but the hoops you gotta jump through in deckbuilding and in the actual match to ascend through Volumbra are so bad. Not to mention that your main draw/spirit engine of Voldusk gets turned offline after you ascend, and also that there's no way within the lunar phase package to search Volumbra to hand, and ALSO that you'd probably need to run multiple Volclipse because you can't special ascend from hand, only from deck (unless you wanna -1 yourself with the shuffle effect). Beyond all of that, you'd have to run 16-24 lunar phase cards in a game with incredibly potent generic runes so you'd either have basically no guys or basically no generics.
Helios Slumber is a cheap version of Rise even if you have to wait one turn. This will either eliminate Rise from decks OR get limited to one per deck. I be tempted to test it with three copies just to prove my point or ask someone to really test it by having 3 copies.
My theory for tornajin and windjin is that they are a better beater than lycavoid in lunar phase. You get both a lunar phase and a non lunar phase and are an 8 atk as opposed to just getting a lunar phase of your choice and being a 6. Edit: That can't be PTA'ed
Except that they cost spirits you most likely don’t want to play. I doubt the Lunar Phase deck is going to want to jam several Wind and Solar spirits just for Windjinn. Not to mention the fact that Werepup is good for hard Ascending over since it’s Lunar, it gets boosted by Temple of the Moon (which will probably see at least some play because of stadium wars), and Lycavoid will probably be hitting for 4 since Full Moon can enchant the Werepup with additional spirits. There is SOME synergy, but I think Windjinn in Lunar Phase is a pipe-dream at best. You’re already probably going to have to do some boy math to fit cards like EQ, Hurricane, Tsunami, etc. Making the spirit math way worse for a marginally “better” Werepup is just not worth it.
@@astercat49 I absolutely agree on the spirits. my initial list 11/12 owl WITHOUT any zapter for ast. But 1; you are never hard ascending. 2; I couldn't find room for temple 3; any 2 hits for 4 after full moon. 4; something you didn't mention is card advantage which is the main advantage Tornadjinn has.
@tropicalkitsune5131 you will hard ascend sometimes. It may not come up all the time, but there will be times when it’s the right play. Temple will probably see more side deck usage against other stadium decks. It’s not consistent card advantage. You can’t control what card you add, which is not good, and you have to expend Wind/Solar, meaning that you are having to play even more useless spirits just to fuel a mid card. Plus, getting Windjinn’s ascension off isn’t consistent, as you have to call one of the top 3 correctly. Sure, I would imagine calling Lunar Phase makes it a bit more consistent with how many cards have that name. But there’s also the high likelihood that you just straight up miss. And then you just get nothing. Not to mention that what Lunar Phase you get is completely up to chance, you don’t get to choose the one you need. Lycavoid is easy to access off of Werepup and has Counter Rune immunity the turn you Special Ascend to it. It hits for 4 and can’t be stopped. The more you look at it, the Windjinn package is just bad.
@astercat49 it consistent card advantage just because you can't choose exactly what card you get doesn't change the fact that you are gaining a card. Unless you are referring to the windjinn ascension. In my build, tornajin is LITERALLY the only 2+ elestral, so no, I am not hard ascending. Edit: there will be 15 lunar phases minimum. I haven't done the math but those odds should be pretty good. ALSO: I plan to play Werepup regardless of if I play Lycavoid, though I am considering adding at least 1 Lycavoid.
@tropicalkitsune5131 the fact that you can’t choose what card you get is precisely why it’s bad. You won’t always get the Lunar Phase you want/need because it’s completely RNG. You can even just straight up fail to get anything at all. If anything, Windjinn is just objectively worse Astrabbit, and Tornadjinn is inherently inconsistent. Not to mention that the spirit math is so horrendously awful because you not only have to play the spirits to cast the Windjinn/Tornadjinn, but also enough Spirits to fuel their effects. Your effectively paying 2 spirits for bad Astrabbit.
Im ngl it feels like 95% of these new cards aren’t good Im especially tired of the big cool 3 cost boss units not being good, it feels like they do not know how to make ascensions good or worth it and it doesn’t feel like they understand the current power of the cards they already printed in the first two sets and just made a bunch of gimmicky weak cards For this game to actually take off people are gonna wanna play the big cool 3 cost boss monsters they see on the start decks and in sets but majority of em are just unplayable
it's limited to 5 lines of text per card. yugioh has cards with 8 lines of text in a font size nearly half as small in a larger text box, really not an issue. if you can't be bothered to read 5 lines of text you shouldn't be playing a TCG
I’m fiercely ambivalent about set reviews!
Let's goooo I love set reviews!
I'm only here to leave a set review comment because of the community post.
!!!
Love set reviews, love MBT content, What can I say but I am HERE for this!
I’m unreasonably hyped for set reviews!!
8:06 were missing a very specific symbol after the “from your” on aardbud
New Cards Pogchamp in your clips channel is cool but you should seriously consider doing this same thing for new Yugioh sets too
I think the best Lunar deck will be a moshpit of Lunar/Suppression cards. Pulveroar will be a staple (get fukt, PTA) and Necrolith will be everything.
The generics/staples are meta warping, too. Spoiled Fruit is basically anti-time card.

Loved the vid and hope to get more set revies from you in the future
Finally the content I’ve been waiting for

I’m indifferent about set reviews…
Real
can't wait to play tearlament in elestrals
I don't typically have strong feelings about set reviews, but for Elestrals, I really like this kind of format. Got me really excited for the set's release.
Set reviews can become lame really fast. But you kept it succinct and to the point. Great content

Self mill gonna be crazy
13:40 "Fact or Fiction" brother that's more like a Gifts Ungiven

I can’t wait till I’m able to get my hands on some of these cards, cmon TCGPlayer!!!!
I'm excited for Volclipse. It'll be my new main deck alongside Frost Nexus. I can't wait!
As long as the takes are insightful I love card reviews in general.
Hell yeah set review! I'm all for set reviews that take under 30 minutes
Man, set reviews are awesome, please do more mbt
The astronomer in me really wants that aurora borealis to be a solar card
(or a fire for the one localized entirely in your kitchen)
I know a guy who loves set reviews

Pogchamp.
New cards.
Pog.
Champ.

this set review has renewed my lease on life!
i like set reviews :]
GoodTimes plays Elestrals? 👀
i love set reviews!
everything you need to know about set reviews

Bow of Artemis is cracked... for shitty Blazerus OTK, so I love it
interesting, a set review
woah its new cards pogchamp but for elestrals
So excited to not have to buy cards to play this game anymore! Elestrals Clash here I come!
I feel mildly intrigued by set teviews.
It's so funny watching videos on a game I don't know. It feels like you are making this up lol
You should get to know the game :)
When I see set reviews I scream at the top of my lungs!!!
Frost is the only element where people call every card mid or bad but swear its a top tier deck
Anyways I have strong opinions on set reviews that I am going to keep close to my chest
I'm about set reviews.
my day one plan is mill for moon phases and the 3 fox + rise for FTK
does the discard from the discard effect of waning crescent trigger the other discard effects from the lunar phase cards?
Yep, it does!

Divine Healing is broken bro, straight up
I can’t wait to play werewolf beat
What do you think thunder cuts to make room for magneros 👀
I am in a quantum state of both loving and hating set reviews

I have strong (positive) opinions about set reviews.
I do like were getting some more real game plans, not just stuff that slots into good guy piles
I am a set review
Wait. What are your opinions on set reviews?
Oh they’re incredibly neutral.
BRO THINKS HE'S LSV!
Im ngl it feels like 95% of these new cards aren’t good

I like the idea but there is no way for me to play this, master duel helps me a lot with getting to play yugioh.
A game is coming to beta soonish with in a few months
make wind better :[
Yeah feels kinda bad looking at the wind cards in this set, made it out better than Fire at least.
Elestrals hasn't even been out a year and they're already filling their entire text boxes.
In a font size much bigger than yugiohs granted
it's limited to 5 lines of text per card. yugioh has cards with 8 lines of text in a font size nearly half as small in a larger text box, really not an issue. if you can't be bothered to read 5 lines of text you shouldn't be playing a TCG
It's been out for over a year.
Ugh is it 3 hour video time again?
Oh a set review? Whatever....
didnt this game JUST get daybreak?
Elestrals really thinks it has more swagger than it actually does printing cards without reminder text already
