    Your test of if it restores the power state after a power off at the socket was EXACTLY what I wanted. I need something I can plug into a HomeKit smart plug and control via automation from another sensor. Thank you.

    This is the most complete review of coway or any other air purifier I've seen.
    I haven't seen any other reviewer talking about power factor and wattage.
    Keep going.
    One suggestion, try to quantify your review as much as possible, like you quantified your power measurement into your measurement device rather than bluntly saying it's efficient.
    You could've done the same while measuring the noise into decibels so that we can get a better idea.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  Рік тому +3

      Thank you... I don't have a proper decibel meter but even if I did there is a bigger issue. The tone of the sound is far more important than decibel, certain tones or sound that isn't perfectly just one sound like this air purifier can be irritating. It is fairly silent but the type of sound stops me from being able to sleep. I need almost no notice to sleep mind you. I use the YIOU air purifier I reviewed despite its low air flow. Also sold off the others like Cuisinart due to the crazy expensive filters and another brand I can't remember the name of that had cheap filters. Maybe one day I can get a meter for sound but all these reviews are out of pocket cost... Spent 60,000 Canadian in the last 3.5 years made no more than $3000 back in total max... The phone apps are pretty much trash for decibel measurements and the Amazon junk doesn't seem much better... If you know a good reliable meter can look at saving up, right now in trades training to get my red sea trades certification.

      @@sparketech True. the pleasantness of the sound is still rather difficult to measure. Maybe the pitch or frequency can give an idea, but still difficult to quantify that.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  Рік тому +1

      @@aseemsharan some meters actually show the pitch of the sound showing lines of pitch from high to low. could show the frequency and explain what tones could be heard.

      Try Rabbitair... It'll cost a lot more but it is seriously impressive. For the price Coway is up there with some of the best. The YIOU is rather good on low. I am curious about Gree air purifiers.

    Did the new plastic smell ever go away for you? When I first put it in it made me light headed and irritated my throat - a few days later I can’t tell if it’s doing anything good, but worried it’s making things worse? I need a purifier that actually works that doesn’t use ionisation
    Thanks for your review

      I should review the unit I use these days. I am 100% certain you can turn the ionizer off. I use a Winix air purifier these days and purchased 2. Less noise, not as much plastic smell if any when using out of the box. Has ionizer and cab be tuened off and best value I have ever seen and more silent. I have fo first finish my universal remote review. I will make sure I ahow how to turn off the ionizer (plasma wave / negative ions) i should have the review pasted by next week. Been using this new air purifier since November 2023.

      Blueair Pure 411a Max has no ionizer. The pure series models I tried are nice but the shortish 6 months filter life killed me. The winix is 1 hepa and comes with a 2 year supply and is more silent than any other air purifier on low I have ever tried other than the Rabbit air biogs 2 and the rabbit air minus A2 that I both owned but never reviewed (very expensive)

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for your question. I replaced it with the Winix 545 I think it is called. Purchased at Costco. It has a more silent motor noise and works very well, as long as you leave the front face in place... Without it the extra surface area reduces the pressure too much. Biggest weakness is the dust can make a mess when cleaning off the pre filter and would suggest taking it outside or over a garbage when removing the front face to clean the pre filter. Meant to review it 3 weeks ago but have been busy working. I used 2 units, first purchased November 2023 (parents liked it so much they kept one for themselves)

    Hi, thanks for the review. I want a simple, no bluetooth wifi or ionizer stuff aircleaner that just does a great job at cleing air without all the noncense added to it. What would you say is a good model?

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  11 місяців тому

      The YIOU air purifier I reviewed for a small room. But I certainly do love my Winix Plasma wave C545 despite the fact it does do negative ions but it is the first of this type to not irritate my nose, it is also very silent and moves a good amount of air and comes with a 2 year supply of filters. Purchased it from Costco.

    great video!!!!! Does Coway 150 filter pet hair?? and how would u compare it with levoit 300

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  Рік тому +3

      I've never used any Levoit products. Both seem to use the same type of filtration level and the same form of mesh pre filter. Levoit being round you'd want about a foot off of the wall or more for proper air flow all directions. The Coway can be placed against a wall. Both should be only okay for pet hair due to the small round holes not allowing long strands in nicely compared to slits. Other issue pet hair is very heavy to an air purifier and would have to be run on max to even catch air. For pet hair most air filters won't be what you are look for since it does not float in the air like dust.
      Levoit has a pre filter on the filter while the Coway uses "in my opinion" a better design of a separate pre filter for bit easier cleaning. Motor noise I have no clue of.
      The next air purifiers I might test in the future is Gree model GCF100AANA or maybe Bueair to see if they have improved their motor noise from the one I owned that I didn't review. Loved my Rabit air but it was really big, super silent and super expensive. I currently have my YIOU air purifier with me that I use over the Coway. The Coway is not a 100% steady sound and I am an extremely light sleeper.

    FYI, power factor doesn’t work the way you think. VA is apparent power, nothing more. Motors generate reactive power, there’s no way around it, but you actually pay for watts, aka real power, not for VA, which is a combination of both. Power companies only take into account the PF into their billing mechanisms for large factories that are power hungry and use load of motors, for instance. In other words, the average Lehman doesn’t pay for what you perceive as inefficiencies, the PF is simply irrelevant for most of us, we only pay for real power. Also note that the PF is just bad for underloaded motors, that’s just the way motors work, they’re just a big inductor that create reactive power. As they get more loaded, the PF improves, as you’ve noticed. Taking correction measures in the design to improve the PF is a nice to have, but in the end, it doesn’t matter for residential customers.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  6 місяців тому

      You are correct it doesn't matter for residential customers unless everything in the home has poor power factors. And some countries don't care at all, in BC Canada where I live it is possible but unlikely to ever have enough bad power factor to matter. Therefore in my latest air purifier review I made 2 weeks ago I left it out but I also was too much of a rush that I left out regular power testing but power factor for residential does not really matter especially for such a low power device. I was in a rush cause I work 2 weeks out of town with 1 week back. I am an electrician building a power generation plant (finished my year 4 schooling about 4 months ago).
      For motors you must know capacitor banks are used to correct power factor... And Exciters to apply more voltage to correct for the lag sometimes.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  6 місяців тому

      A capacitor would correct for lagging VARs. Volt AMP Reactive. You sound like you must know something about electrical, capacitor power factor correction was a part of my year 3 schooling. Worth the price to do, of course not unless like you mentioned a large machine at an industrial site.

    how many decibels of noise on medium setting?

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  6 місяців тому +1

      The problem with Decibels is where and how far the sound is measured and the tone of the sound. That is why when I show the sound I leave it at the same sound level as my speech. I prefer the Winix C545 over this unit BUT it doesn't auto restart after power loss. Reason the C545 doesn't have motor noise. The winix C545 (sold at Costco) is based on the same design as the Winix Zero-s

    I bought this unit recently and ran it for less than an hour and had to shut it off. It was releasing a horrible plastic type smell that gave me a severe reaction. I have a very sensitive immune system and I had to return it. Very disappointed.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  10 місяців тому +1

      I am now using an Winix C565, I prefer it over this Coway, more silent and helps with my allergies more. It has the plasma wave thing that normally irritates my nose but this one doesn't but it can at least be turned off. I never reviewed this Winix unit yet, at least not yet. I got it at Costco.
      If you are sensitive to plastics I have no suggestion but to air out the plastic body for a day or 2 before ever turning it on. They are all made from plastic unless you want to buy industrial metal units. Thanks for sharing in case this is more common than I think.
      Where did you purchase from? Amazon, Ebay?

      I always put the links in my video description, even if it is just a direct link. I pay for all of these out of my own income to review. The only way I make anything back is the tiny UA-cam income and sale referrals which does not cost you a penny and all sales goes towards gift cards not cash so that any purchase goes back more items to review. I was not provided and I didn't loan any of those, I purchased all of those purifiers out of pocket.
