Hare Kṛṣṇa! 🙏
The half-man, half-lion Nṛsiṁhadeva is the fourth avatār amongst well known Daśāvatāra of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. We all know that Lord Viṣṇu appeared in His most ferocious form as Nṛsiṁhadeva to protect Bhakta Prahlāda from his demoniac father, Hiraṇyakaśipu. It was the annihilation of Hiraṇyākṣa by Varāhadeva, the boar avatār of Lord Viṣṇu that aggrieved the King of demons to take revenge on the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Hiraṇyakaśipu performed severe penance to please Lord Brahmā for the boon to become immortal. Meanwhile, his wife, Kayādhu was pregrant.
Hiraṇyakaśipu and Kayādhu's son, Prahlāda received instructions in bhāgavata-dharma from the mouth of Nārada Muni while being inside the womb of his mother. For he was always engaged in worshiping Lord Viṣṇu and not his glorification, Hiraṇyakaśipu tried to kill Prahlāda Mahārāja through various means, ultimately ending up in the wonderful incarnation as Nṛsiṁhadeva out of the pillar and slaying of the King of the demons.
Thus even if one thinks of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in envy, he attains salvation. What then is to be said of devotees who always engage in the Lord’s service with love and faith? Although this form is unique and fearsome in appearance, He is the most compassionate of all. The five-years-old Bhakta Prahlāda was like a little cub who knew the love of its mother lion.
