  • This final version of TWN's classic intro was short lived.

I swear I remember seeing a video from 2003 where they were using the classic background music again.

Wow, I've don't recall seeing this final version of the classic intro before, let alone a different music bed. I remember them using the 1992-2001 music bed the most often on both channels. I can't remember if MM used that version or if they dropped the classic intro on their side by then because their show names didn't have the classic intro.

It sounds like the 1996 TWC Local Forecast "Neighborhood" intro. That one only lasted a couple months earlier in the year before it got replaced in mid-April with a new set of graphics (Weatherscope/LOT8s)

Hope you do have more TWN clips from 2002.

That lasted for one season before they dropped the top of the hour introductions on Monday March 25th 2002. I know This Weekend survived until at least mid-2003. But did Morning Report, Sea to Sea, Across Canada and Earthwatch get dropped when they stopped doing the intros???. I was too young to remember that. I was just shy of 6 at the time.

For a few months they did refer to each time block by their show names. But at this point the only thing differentiating them were just some on screen graphics (No intros or really any unified theme). It was around August when they debuted a new "set" where the show names were eventually dropped.

@@etownwx August 2002 was around the time they dropped the ticker and did the forecasts at a glance. Which ended up lasting until late 2007 until they updated it slightly.

@@wyattmailloux9419 Interesting though that the satellite kept the classic ticker up through early October 2002 or so when they switched to the fall programming, I don't know why they were late switching there...
On the other hand when MM switched to the forecasts at a glance they did it slightly different than TWN such as the current temperature below the date and time, forecasts for the next 12 hours plus the next day, showing the precipitation chances for each (until October 2007), and omitting the barometer, dewpoint, visibility, and ceiling until December 2010. Plus they also had a different design until late November 2006 when it was consistent with TWN (first one was used from 2002-April 2003, then the second from April 2003-late November 2006).
