Charlie, Although I generally welcome any surviving sedan in our market, I am going to boldly predict that everything you like about the Crown sedan, you will like MORE in the Crown Signia SUV....CUV.......WAGON. 😉My one major gripe with the Crown sedan is the lack of rear seat headroom. Despite the fact the Crown has a far more accessible seat height than a Camry, it actually offers less rear headroom.🤨 The headroom is improved in the wagon and of course, the wagon provides far more storage capacity. Where available, the 19" rims on the Crown XLE trims will make the ride even better.
@@jayroberts8297 They had them at the massive Toyota event where the 4Runner made its debut. The press/UA-camrs were driving the new Land Cruiser, Tacoma Hybrid, Camry and Signia . Videos for the other models have been released so we just wait for the Signia. I suspect Toyota only brought the Signia in Limited trim for the previews so we may be waiting a little longer to see the base grade XLE.
Now that AWD is available on the Camry, I truly can't see a compelling reason to choose a Crown over a loaded Camry for $10-15k less? I'm sure it has a few features not available on the Camry and it has near crossover ground clearance for extreme winter weather, but other than that the car overall doesn't do much for me. Sure it looks distinctive, but I prefer the looks of the Camry. I will concede some of the Crown variants we don't have yet look much better than this sedan. I'm excited to see one of those when they finally arrive.
@@djplonghead5403 Don't get me wrong, I'm happy we finally get the Crown in the U.S. (more variety of choice is only a good thing) but I'm confused about how Toyota is going to market the Crown considering Lexus already exists for the premium/luxe buyers (highly model dependent on which you get) and mainstream Toyota models are already moving into premium car territory when loaded with all the goodies. Basically I'm just hoping Toyota can sell enough Crowns to keep the line going in North America.
Some of us want powerful motors but dont want any of the sporty flair. I was VERY close to getting this crown but i couldnt find a good compromise with Toyota Crown nor the Grand Highlander. Here were my Pros and cons: The max hybrid powertrain of the Platinum The subtle understated luxury of old fully loaded Volvos The traffic assist features at slow speeds The panaromic view monitor Rims were too big on the platinum with too little sidewall, the suspension kept crashing on very very sharp road irregularities with harsh concerning sounds even though it was plush 98 percent of the time. Rear headroom and legroom was puny. Rear backrest could not recline. The signia wagon has better rear seats, but doesnt include any platinum spec luxuries, nor do they offer the maxhybrid powertrain. I am now very happy with my Genesis gv70 EV - very plush, doesnt crash on ANY sharp bumps, very powerful, very fast, 12.6 sec quartermile, stable enough at 3 digit speeds without any sporty pretenses.
The rear seats should have 3 heat settings. Power trunk or auto lift on release (counterwait) should be standard on the limited for the price. There should be a HUD and ambient lighting. Power tilt wheel- Avalon had it. More materials on the door would be nice- like the Avalon or new Camry. You shouldn’t have to get a platinum for some of these features. Also, it should have a better sound system-like the Avalon. Looking to upgrade from a 2016 LaCrosse. It has 303 HP, ambient lighting, and nicer interior treatment.
I watch a good amount of your videos and appreciate your perspective. It seemed like you were moving your head more than usual in this video which made it a bit harder for me to focus. I think it’s because you were justifying how this is actually a good car and emphasizing that with body language. Still a nice review.
Okay, thank you for the feedback! I've also been wondering if my camera has been deteriorating, because I've noticed some of the night footage seems shakier too. Will keep an eye on it.
@11:35 Completely disagree. I owned a 2018 Mazda6 Grand Touring Reserve(FWD with the 2.5 Turbo) and while the car was great overall, the car had serious traction issues with that much torque going to the front wheels only. A Mazda3 has even thinner tires than the Mazda6, and the 2.5 Turbo makes even more torque these days. A FWD Mazda3 Turbo would be a shitshow.
@@55stevieray thanks for your response I always do long road trips 7-14 hours and I never done it in a hybrid before but this crown looks so nice and I planned on getting it so I was curious about how far it can go
I own a 2023 Crown Limited and agree with your review. I am very happy with this vehicle.
As an old fart this car is on my radar Thanks Charlie
Thanks for this review! Keep it up.

RLH, I have driven the Signia. Based on specs and images, it's compelling!
Will you do a sound system test on the Ram Tungsten and compare it to the 19 speaker Harmon Kardon
Likely!

The Crown Signia reviews will be posted on June 6.
2025 Camrys will flood the roads by 2028. I think the crown will remain somewhat rare and distinctive.

$60K for this medium Sedan? Why so freaking expensive???
Toyota wants big Cash.
