Here's the thing. If somebody approached me with one of those coins in a SHTF, How would one be able to test it and be sure that it's ligit when chaos is going on?
Stockpiling tobacco to trade for gold when the gold bugs need a smoke. In all seriousness, I learned a lesson about investing in precious metals during the subprime collapse. I needed to sell some silver to buy food and gas and no one would buy at spot. I had to take a serious hit to trade it. The best time to invest in precious metals is when you have everything else set and you don't need them and can wait until someone else is desperate for them.
Lesson. Buy food and gas instead.

Tell me one time in all of recorded history where people did not trade and work for precious metals or shiny gems or minerals at all. Im a history buff. Im waiting. Id be willong to bet money you cant give me an answer. Because its always been traded for and valued. And the biggest of those is gold.

I suggest investing in antimony. It's not precious nor is it very rare. But it is very cool to look at, because if its irregular surface features that sparkles when a spotlight shines on it. I have a five pound chunk on my desk.

In a crisis situation (SHTF/TEOWAKI) precious metal are beyond useless. I do understand why you would the position that they have value. You have a military mindset that makes you believe that there is always someone/some entity coming to save you. That isn't true and likely will not be true if a very bad situation happens, you're going to be alone or in a very small very unprepared group of very scared/confused people. The people who have the resources are not going to want useless gold or silver, they will want other resources necessary for survival. This is the failure of the military or government mindset.

I had it with stacking. No more for me. I like to keep my assets in a much more liquid asset like stocks and crypto. It a real pain in the backside when you need cash and you have sell your metals. Just shopping around for anyone to give you the best price is cumbersome let alone dragging your stack clear across town. With stocks and crypto just press the sell button and you’re in like flint.
Gold & silver yes but go online and buy in smaller quantities.
Never ever buy platinum if you’re just an average person wanting to hedge against a recession and dollar collapse.

I have a 1oz platinum coin I thought for the longest time was silver then it dawned on me what I had after I traded it to a buddy. Me realizing it was not silver after the fact I asked him if he still had it and he gave it back to me. So glad he was under the impression it was silver too.
