I remember when I watched this episode the first time with my mother and both of us practically passed out from laughter. Since then this have been a really nice Christmas tradition.
Hi Margaret thanks for the info yes I saw BritBox too it’s a great channel but like you say I can’t afford most of the extras as well hopefully someday it’ll be on Netflix or another channel I’ll just have to keep watching the good reruns on UA-cam till then hope you have a great day thanks again take care 😊
Sheer comedy genius of the writers, dawn french and emma chambers. One of my fave episodes of any series ever. Thank you so much you brilliant artists!
I was flashing back to something I witnessed at my church that was quite the opposite. During my year as sexton, there was a day where I was in the charity director's office. The pastor came in for some sort of question. Also, the charity director was pregnant, and she brought up the baby's baptism date. She tried to insist on a date when various members of her family would be in town, but the pastor said "sorry, I'm on vacation. I learned during my first year to schedule your vacation heavily in advance. If you don't, you schedule a baptism, and then a wedding, and because you have all sorts of things scheduled, you end up missing your vacation for the year. I discovered to schedule my vacations long in advance." The pastor regularly preaches about being selfless and helping others out, but it's also important to take care of yourself.
I have watched this episode every Christmas since as long as I can remember (I’m 29) and today have only just found out that Alices’ sister is Mel Giedroyc!
Have you had your turkey yet? No No No No No I had a fish finger at tea time. Have you? no no no yes. You did did you. No no no just the one fish finger. Have you.
I would LOVE to wear a fairy costume like the one Alice has got! I would also love to dress up as an angel with a toe length robe, a tinsel belt, white ballet tights, pinky-white ballet slippers, a halo and big white fairy wings. I'm just disappointed that we don't have more boy fairies and angels. It's good to break stereotypes.
Philip Randall: When I was a small child, one of my older sisters had a costume like that. For some reason I was enchanted by it, and one Halloween, before I had outgrown it, my mother (not sure how my father felt) allowed me to wear it to our school's Halloween party. From that day on, my sexuality was constantly questioned. Yet to me, it was all kind of stupid. If I had worn a Barney the Dinosaur costume (they didn't exist in the late 50s, obviously) would people have labelled me...as a reptile wannabe? IT WAS A COSTUME. Should I have put on my Sunday suit and gone as a businessman?

I'm a Brit living in America. You can get Britbox but can't afford all these extras. Wish they had episodes up on Netflix or prime!

not rrally Dibley spelt with a capital D is actually the last place on Earth I'd want to visit
Considering half the cast are dead now, it'd be hard for it to still be going.

Definitely should have had more air time during the series, perhaps taken up Mrs. Cropley's role.
I love this show
She could go to three places to have Christmas lunch. Could she? Could she? Oh she could could she?
I didn’t know Alice had a sister! She does? She does. She does? She does. SHE DOES? She does!

I know it's not the same actress, but Alice's mom reminds an awful lot of Georgia Engle from the "Mary Tyler Moore Show."

Philip Randall You can. If anyone gives you slack, just remind them that you are secure in your masculinity.

Hi, Baby Mel Giedroyc!
Oh my GOSH it is her!
didnt show the taxi laugh..
Old Dawn can do "fat" like no one else.
She's actually lost quite a lot of weight in recent years
Alice’s sister Mary, was played by Mel Giedroyc. For years I thought I recognized her. Still irritating then as she is now!
Goodness it is, I'd never have recognised her if you hadn't said
I loved the double Alice!
This isn’t a sitcom- just a sit. To be a sitcom it would have to be funny
Bore off mate!
Quite simple don't watch and let those who do enjoy it.

Not funny really.
Nothing Dawn appears in is remotely funny.
Even French and Saunders is only funny when Saunders speaks.
WHAT?
Well, have you seen the full episode?
