I’m reasonably sure that the hiker you referred to with the rolling hills at the backdrop was me ! I did yet another hike to yet another peak (5700 feet) of lush green western ghats last week. Ironically, I’ve run out of Ghat green and I found that Krishna have released their inks in new bottles and they’ve categorized Ghat green under “Revolution Series”, each bottle costing about $4 here in India. I’ll order one soon. And I’ll get a couple of bottles and ship them to you if and when I visit the US !
Love the new music! I’m a huge fan of Krishna inks. In the past, I’ve bought them from Pen Chalet. They’re out of stock pretty much everywhere. Even on the Krishna website they only have five colors available. I’m pretty devastated. If I run out of Candle Day, I will cry. Gorgeous brown-orange ink with dramatic shading. It’s in my latest currently inked video.
@ I’m not that surprised given high incidents of violence committed by parents against school principals and teachers by students. There’s a shortage of male teachers at primary school level because they are worried about being sued for inappropriate contact with students.
Thrilled to see the Decapod Twist make a comeback. I was inspired by seeing yours to get one myself. I wanted the green midori-tamenuri finish. It was my first choice. Wasn’t available, so I got the nearly equally lovely aka-tamenuri one instead, and clip-less, of course. I had to wait eight months for mine. Totally worth the money and the wait. I badly want a second Nakaya. Alas, they are somewhat hard to find new anymore. Because Nakaya aren’t making any new ones nor taking orders after the recent disasters in Japan. I’m seeking a Piccolo large, or the Neo-Standard you own. Most of all, the Dorsal Fin pen. I’ll wait, search and pray that I get what I want in the near future. I’m convinced that of all the urushi pens out there, Nakaya still makes the very best ones. And the nibs are great, thank god. Krishna inks intrigue me. I’ll ask an Indian friend to get me a good green and brown of my choice when he visits India at the end of this year.
I am sad to hear about Nakaya's recent troubles because I want one more Nakaya: one with their beautiful ascending dragon finish. The nibs are great because they get tested in the larger market of Platinum. Krishna has a few absolutely fascinating inks!
@@robbinallan3767 Oh, so cool, Robbin. What nib did you choose? I have the Soft Medium. Mine is just a little less than two years old. I bought mine from Iguanasell in Spain. I had to stress to the seller than I wanted the ‘Twist’ version of the Decapod and clip-less, without a doubt. Taccia also makes many extremely attractive ebonite-urushi pens. I have one, now want another. Nibs made by Sailor (18k). The urushi work is exquisite, nearly equaling Nakaya’s.
@@WaskiSquirrel One stand-out advantage of buying expensive Japanese pens is the impeccable QC, especially of their nibs, which are invariably great, glitch-free writers out of the box. It’s not something you can say about other brands from around the world - especially the Italian brands (nibs usually being the most common bugbears)..Still, Italian pens dominate my current collections of exactly 60 pens. Aurora, Stipula and Montegrappa, mainly (my three firm favorites). And I also have a few OMAS, Delta, Scribo and Santini each. Hopefully, we can both get another Nakaya each.
I continue to be so impressed with your pen collection. You have such variety between new & vintage, and they all seem to be of excellent quality. I also like your ink collection. The Sailor Jentle Apricot is very attractive. You talked about making holiday plans & traveling and that got me to wondering if you’re able to spend time with family & friends over Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years, being that you live so far away. I hate to think of Squirrel being alone during holidays. I’m looking forward to your upcoming vids. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving & wish you a merry Christmas! 🎄 Oh, I like the new music. But it’s not as upbeat as previous, which I really liked.
Thank you! I try to take care of my pens, but I do have a few that have been through things... I have a great family on the East Coast. I don't travel home during the holidays, but I can see them in the summer. I have a found family here in North Dakota. And the music: I haven't found anything I like as well as Sayonara.
SBRE Brown just says he may not respond to all comments but says let me assure you, I read them all. I am starting a new segment- Pens I must use, to overcome pen neglect. Replacement music is very good Senor, I like it. Some castanets!
The day I can't respond to them all may come, but I am the slowest growing fountain pen channel on UA-cam, so likely far in the future. Glad you like the music!
I absolutely love my Platinum Presidents! I have several of them in multiple nib sizes. It’s kinda interesting to me because I’ve only ever had a singular 3776 that wrote worth the crap. I still have the one that will actually write. I suppose that underscores how perception of different pen models can be skewed by your own personal experience with that particular pen. I’ve had 5-6 3776’s and every single one wrote terribly. I *really* like platinum nibs due to their pleasant feedback so I wanted to like them. Anyway, I got of on a tangent there but it is a real shame the President was discontinued….they’re truly excellent pens with excellent nibs!
Lie De The is one of my favorite Brown inks along with SBRE Brown From Akkerman. I also still think J. Herbin Vert Empire is super underrated for a green ink. It's my absolute favorite green and no other green in my collection is like it. Do you have any tricks to make my Parker 51 write any more wet? it seems super super dry for a fine nib.. I bought it from Anderson Pens.
I will check that Vert Empire out. For now, I'm using up green inks, but that day will come. As for the Parker 51, assuming it's an older one, you might try taking apart the section and flossing the nib with a brass shim, but that pen is more difficult to customize because of the hooded nib.
Always interesting. Political: any impact with your governor Secretary of Interior? Enjoy your holidays but I look forward to talking to you more. Do you like Christmas movies? One favorite is White Christmas
It will be interesting to see what impact Mr. Burgum has on the Department of the Interior. I have hopes that he can improve things with our Indigeous population. He made some strides while governor. But under the orange president, I don't have much hope. My favorite Christmas movie is called "A Christmas Story". The kid sticking his tongue on the flagpole is something that has happened on our playground!
Lovely Columbus. For tilting ink bottles, I steal my kid’s playdoh to hold the desired angle quite nicely 😅
That's a good idea, especially since it will help hold the bottle in place!

It was indeed you!
I saw Ghat Green for sale on Amazon and, as you note, it's a new bottle at $16.95.

Candle Day sounds really nice! I'll have to check that out. I don't like shopping Amazon, but I see some Krishna inks are available there...
my word, that Nakaya !!! Yowza !!
It's a beauty for sure!
We have a teacher shortage here in Australia 🇦🇺 too, along with a mental health crisis and a shortage of beds for patients (7K beds for 17K patients).
One thing that surprised me in researching the topic was how widespread the teacher shortage is, even in countries where I wouldn't expect it.

leaf of tea
More specifically, the tea leaves left at the bottom of a cup. 'Lie' is related to the English 'lees'.
One of my favorites : D
Thank you!
I always enjoy seeing your vintage pens ♡♡♡. And, I think I like the music 😉
Thank you for the feedback on the music! And, yes, the vintage pens are my favorites!
Hi...comment...your video image is looking fantastic these days. Great quality image..Cheers from Oz
Thank you! I've been working on image quality, so I'm glad to hear that's paying off.
Mr. Squirrel, love the guitar work on your new music and of course your lights always signal the festive season.
Glad you liked the music. I'll be curious what you think about future pieces.
And, yes, I love the lights!
The new music fits well.
And a few top 5s would be fun. Kerry of Pens & Tea has been doing a few.
Thank you! I have a few other pieces to try out, but I will miss the energy of Sayonara.

Wanted to comment that like you, I was inspired to get a Decapod Twist by Mr Squirrel. Mine is a few years old now.

The President nibs are great. I have several pens with that nib.
I've had mostly good luck with my 3776 pens, but one or two bad ones in there.

@WaskiSquirrel Yes, I know that movie. He gets a bb gun and when he kills a bird, understands the repercussions.
If God was to use a fountain pen it would be a Lamy 2000.😉
I can believe that!
