I think you may have mixed things up a bit here. The new set is a planar ornament set while the ashblazing set is a relic set so they don't take up the same slots. So whether you have a great Ashblazing Grand Duke set or not has no relation to farming the new planar set.
You have to be meta at least once to even fall off, LOL. Bro has been mid since launch and has literally gotten more buffs over time than any other unit in the game -- and yet he's still mid (at best). He's more than likely getting more buffs in the next year once the Fate collab drops, since we're definitely going to move into a summoning meta for that. The question is whether the Fate summoned units work as controllable units or as independent ones like the Lightning Lord and Numby.

Tbf on his release he was meta with seele at least, and he’s only mid cuz of his backloaded dmg only going once per cycle
He needs a Support that makes his LL launch Attack outside of LL's Turn without resetting it's stacks
