designTimber - Eton Sports & Aquatics Centre

This is the seventh episode of TDUK's designTimber webinar series in which we hear from the multidisciplinary teams behind exemplary timber buildings from the 2023 Wood Awards.
In this webinar, architect Andrew Barnett from Hopkins Architects, structural engineer Barney Jordan from Cundall and timber specialist John Spittle from WIEHAG provide insight into the design, engineering and construction of the Eton Sports & Aquatics Centre.
This high-performance mass-timber facility comprises a 25m pool and four-court sports hall. Soaring, expressed glulam columns and beams comprise the main supporting structure of this finely crafted building, which has been carefully designed for full accessibility and a variety of uses.
