@@BellahMel07If I remember correctly their bandname is a combination of the coordinate "X" and the word "hiker" .... so I think "Roady" is derived from the second word. Feel free to correct me my fellow Roadies 😅
The rap line is insane. I'm a Yechan fan 😂 Sumin / Minjae duo... Nothing else to say. KQ knows how to make killers. Hongjoong (my favorite ❤️) energy in it of course.
I'm so glad hongjoong worked on this album again. Like I already know whatever HJ works on that it's gonna be a banger. Also the rapper in the beginning you liked, his name is yechan! Him and minjae I think are my faves so far, which isn't surprising because they're pretty much hongjoong prodigies/sons. I also love how they wore masks like Ateez did in Hala hala. it makes you focus on the talent and song more. This album is gonna be 🔥
I am not 100% sure if they mean this in the song precisely, but "koong" is a sound word in Korean for the strong pounding/thudding/beating of a heart (such as when one is near a loved one as in " "심쿵" Shim Koong" (heart beat, which you hear a lot in Kdramas when someone is excited or near their crush). I really like this song and the use of the effects on their voices. Hard to believe that "Koong" is just a pre-release - I am really hopeful for another strong release from Xikers when they drop the full album. Since you liked this, I think you might also enjoy some of the tracks by The Boyz (you saw them on the Kingdom show) like "Roar" and "Maverick" and "She's the Boss" and " Breaking Dawn." Different but similar in a way to this style.
Right, Andy and Jas (ua-cam.com/video/A5DujfY9hdE/v-deo.html) also explain how its used as an onomatopoeia for the sound that something makes when it hits the ground. Like books falling off a desk...Koong when they hit the ground. Which makes sense with the lyrics.
The minute this MV dropped I thought, "TEDDY HAS TO SEE THIS." I'm obsessed with this song and your reaction did not disappoint! Can't wait for the full album to drop August 2!
So this one is one of their new song from their new album! The new album is not out yet, it will be the 2nd of August 😍 And from what I can see with the name tracks that they have release, they have two title track and Koong is not even one of them! So I think it's a b-side and they surprised us by releasing it one week before the comeback!! 😭😍
Me too! Saw them in Chicago and I just had to give a little chuckle because they were such smolbois. But I was so impressed by their charisma and dancing, and everything since debut has been so impressive - I can’t wait to see them next time they tour!
After watching this for the first time, I really thought "Well, some people might not like this, but TeddyGreyOnStuff will love it! Right up his alley." 😅
seeing them in Atlanta before they became Xikers was such a wonderful thing to experience! I feel like a proud mother watching my sons grow up and blow up!! Stan Xikers
When you said "Let's see if these 10 boys kill it" I teared up a bit because I miss Junghoon. Thank you for reacting to this, and stay tuned for the rest of the album that comes out on August 2nd!!
someone said he’s injured 😩 I hope he gets well soon! Maybe it will be another “Hyunjin/Mixtape:Oh” situation where fans get completely surprised by his return!
Hongjoong is a part of the producing of their 2nd album as well! You need to hear their 1s album before their cb too bad Junghoon is still recovering, they will be 9 in this cb
3:27 Re generations, there is another group under KQ called Block B, a 2nd gen boy group who were started under another label and then after troubles there moved to a KQ subsidiary (4 seasons, in the opening KQ logo block), who became sort of the big brothers for ATEEZ to look up to in terms of being an iconic group. They were loud, boisterous, and their debut in 2011 was too racy for daytime television. You might know of Zico and Taeil as the more famous names to come out of the group. ATEEZ covered their songs during the King of Kings performance of Immortal Songs, too. So you're right when you say that each successive group moves the needle further. 2:36 "bibbity bobbidy" as a term comes from the 1950 Cinderella movie, where it's part of the lyrics (the song title is Bippidy Bobbidy Boo, and Disney parks have the Bibbity Bobbidy Boutiques where you can get children a makeover in Disney style). TXT has used it in their song, too. It's generally associated with magic because of the transformation the fairy godmother gives Cinderella while singing it. ... So looking forward to their first comeback in a week, already ordered my signed version of the album. Whee! These guys are literally amazing. Proud Roady.
"Koong" is the korean onomatopoeia for when something falls to the floor, kinda could be translated to "boom" but its a bit more specific (love ur reactions
Their next album drops next week so there's new Xikers songs to look forward to! I'd suggest listening to Oh My Gosh before their album drops, just so it's not forgotten
The blue fire balls and lightning is part of the concept. They are Dokkaebi, which are korean goblins. They travel on/in lightning and appear as blue colored fire balls. "Koong" is a korean onomatopoeia for the sound of lightning/thunder. They can be extremely mischievous but can bring luck to people. They want you to play with them but if you decide you no longer want to play and refuse to they will turn on you. If they helped you get a house, car and other material possessions through their magical intervention and good luck, if you refuse to play they will turn all that in to shit. Not metaphorically but LITERALLY.
What you were saying about a theme that they may have... I've learned from 2 Korean music producer reactors, that the use of the lighting and blue fire is a representation of a Korean lure old tale of gremlin-like creatures that can control you, that can appear as blue flames. This also helped me understand "Stray Kids - Thunderous", cause in their make-film video I remember Chan saying something about it being related to gremlins/demons, but he never explained it, so I thought he was kidding, but apparently It's a true Korean old story, and they do use blue flames and lightning in the MV as a representation of Evil (the haters probably) SIDE NOTE The umbrella with them saying bibidi babidi....It really sounds like Marry Poppins actually.
Hi Teddy!! Loved your reaction to Koong! If you liked Yechan there is another Kpop artist named Do Hanse; he was the main rapper of the group Victon. Lots of people have compared Yechan to Do Hanse because they have a similar tones. If you are interested in checking them out, I would highly recommend their song "Flip a Coin"!!
I couldn’t get to the south of my country to catch my flight due to nationwide train strikes. There’s simply nothing to discuss and it depresses me every time I think about the opportunity I missed out on due to incompetence, hence the silence. Over £700 wasted on travel, Lolla tickets and a hotel + I missed out on the chance to see genuine friends I’ve made. If I made a video about my Lolla experience it would end up being a 20 minute rant about British Railway followed by me either punching a wall or crying.
