You are hands down the best instructor on YT.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm grateful for your support and glad I can contribute to your golf journey.
Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Most of the better YT instruction is way above what 95% of the amateurs can benefit from. There’s also a lot of bad YT instruction out there that needs to be avoided. I believe your instruction is what the majority of golfers need. Accurate fundamentals, well explained and demonstrated.
Thank you sir!! Comments like this make the hard work that much easier!!

Hi Andrew, Nice new Logo Graphics!
Thanks for the valuable, easy to comprehend information!
Merry Christmas 🎉
Merry Christmas Steve! I thought it was time for a decent “short” intro!!! Glad you like it! Appreciate the support, wishing you an abundance of flushed golf shots in 2024! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
I started with my arms fully internally rotated and then take my grip. I use the towel wringing feel that keeps my elbows in and avoiding the flying elbows. I find as a older 🏌 golfer it is so much easier for me to do at setup than to try to get in a certain backswing position. Would love to see how this shows up on your wrist data capture in a video
Let the ball flight be your guide!! I’m glad you found what works for you. That’s what it’s all about mate. Thanks for watching and welcome aboard!

Very articulately and completely explained W/out going into the "woods" as you say. I'm 67 and wish I knew at 23 what I know today. At one point I thought about qualifying for the US Open. I played some rounds of 65, 66 etc. , but my handicap was a 5. I then played against some VERY GOOD golfers and kept my love for golf in the amateur ranks. Again, thank you Andrew, BTW, Andrew is my middle name not that it matters.
Thank you sir!! 65’s - not many golfers have accomplished that feat!! I’m glad you’re enjoying my channel. Thanks for watching. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
I love your approach and teaching overall. BTW, those rounds were in the 17 mile drive grouping in the Monterey Bay CA area, I lived within 20 miles of each. Those were the days!

Thanks about that last part on the release. I have a HM (since a black Friday deal last year) and while I managed to influence flexion/extension pretty quickly, increasing rotation post impact turned out to be nigh impossible thusfar. I just do 90% of my underarm rotation before impact, and forcing my wrists to roll post impact only added max 10 degrees or so, but not improve strike really. HM did help me to take loft off at impact (still have a minute flip if I don't focus) and compress the ball better. I managed to translate the better angle numbers by a feel based 'flat at the top and then keep my left wrist "dead" on the way down, which is already such a bonus that I just gave up on trying a different rotation pattern, it is a relief to see now that it's not completely abnormal... I think what also made me doubt myself that amongst the comparison profiles of HM, only really one (female) tour player displayed the same rotation pattern.
I’m glad the video helped! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Such great passion Coach A!!
That parts easy Gary, I love what I do!!
Thanks for watching!
Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
I am a firm believer there must be rotation of the forearms just before impact. It allows you to throw the club head down the line. Using too much extension and flexion causes the club face to open, which is fine if you want to hit a fade.
A salient point for sure. Forearm rotation is essential!! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
From the down the line view what should your wrist look like with the L to L release could you show that , Great Video!!!!!!!!
Club re-sets through your lead shoulder and should be pointed at your ball target line if the camera is set up DL. Thanks for watching!
Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
I used to hit a fade and went to trying to hit a straighter ball. Nope. Going back to fade. Aim left edge of green or fairway then just open club face a tad. Boom! High and soft
I love it!! You have to find what’s best for you mate! Forget this method stuff! And NEVER try and hit a straight shot again! Hardest one by far! One piece of advice would be to offset your fade in practice with the occasional “draw session” then get back to the trusty fade! Do this and your swing will remain within the rails!! Nice work! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Have really enjoyed watching your videos this year Andrew. Wishing you a great holiday season!

Thanks Scott! I hope all is well up in Shreveport, LA!? Thanks again for flying down to Charleston to work with me. It was a pleasure helping you with your game and getting to know you! I hope we can do it again some time!
Merry Christmas mate! A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
Could you discuss hand path with all the clubs, please? I think that I try to hit the ball with my hands rather than the club face and this promotes my outside to in movement. But, that is simply a theory from an amateur.
i’m prone to the same thing/ hitting out of the heel. i’ve found trying to spear my trail thigh with the butt of the club on the downswing helps … i have a rotate release pattern
Try the steps outlined in this video. Be patient, start slowly and build your speed up over time. I’m confident that you’ll improve the path of your hands if you follow these steps.

@@tomvaughan9846what I see from most golfers that get outside the plane is that they either lack depth at the top and/or transition spin!
It’s so important to keep your back to the target as you change direction. It provides room for you to approach the ball from the inside! Be patient as you change direction and it should help.

I’ve been trying your swing demonstrations and they work
Keeping the back to the target is the key for me to stop rotating when the right shoulder drops down bringing the arms with it to strike the ball or swing to my target
Your explanations are nicely done 👍⛳️👍

Just magic info, for me it's a reminder to use the handle so the hands stay centred in the swing.
Love it!! 👍🏻
Coach A. I have read and studied that too much turning/twisting of the club at impact requires a lot of timing to hit consistently. Is the rotation release you describe difficult to time for consistent results or am I thinking of something different than you are describing? Thank you for the great videos!
Hi Bill, you’re talking about an open to close release pattern that’s excessively inside out. This was taught a lot in the 80’s and 90’s. I do not subscribe to an excessive rate of closure!
What I’m prescribing is a ‘must do’ for golfers with neutral grips. It’s what tour players do and recreational golfers do not. The key is to match the release pattern to the golfers grip! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

You need to ascend more through the ball! Lead wrist pointing slightly up through the ball should help!! (-) AOA is going to be a problem so it’s a lot different with a driver!

love your teaching but a bit confused.in one video you talked about extending away from the body initially in the downswing and another in which you talked about leading with your trail elbow.how do you both anatomically?
I did a trail arm video a few weeks back that clearly defines the role of the trail arm in the golf swing. The objective should always be to de-elevate and reposition the club for delivery. The upper arm, drops, the lower arm unfolds and the wrists articulate in order for that to happen!
However in many cases the FEEL of throwing the club away from us at the top and twisting the club a lot sooner is extremely helpful - In particular with the driver! I think it’s possible you took that a (feel) as literal?! In my experience golfers tend to try and spin their bodies to more speed leaving their arms and the club head at the start line.
Bottom line stall the spin phase by keeping your back to the target and get some energy into your arms early! I promise your body WILL respond dynamically. I see it EVERY DAY!! Great results in the lesson tee. Good luck!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Can you talk about players that have a cupped wrist at the top ex: Fred Couples, Webb Simpson?
Robb, those two guys have very different patterns. Couples has a pretty strong grip - lead wrist extends due to internal trail shoulder rotation. He corrects that on the way down. Simpson has a weaker grip, he extends his lead wrist at the top and requires a very fast rate of closure to square up a very open club face! He’s an outlier on tour that’s for sure but it works for him!
Amateurs are better suited in my opinion limiting their lead wrist extension at the top. In my experience as a coach - An open club face for a weekend warrior is a recipe for disaster for most.
Thanks for the comment, Best, A. ⛳️🏌️♂️
I spent $2500 at Golftec a huge waste of money. Andrew makes more sense for seniors and amateurs.

I have a lot of confusion with realese of the hands, some pros say that if the hips do not open at time , the hands will collapse, in the L to L exercise, do the hips rotate? What is a good finish for the exercise L to L?
Hi JLD, the golf swing isn’t ALL Hands & Arms any more than it’s ALL Body! Having said that, if you focus your attention on the L to L drill you’ll find that your body will start to respond dynamically without paying attention to it!! Your pressure will drift and your pelvis will rotate just like it would if you were tossing a ball.
Too many swing thoughts will tie you up in knots!! IF you need to work on tightening up your body dynamics I would put it on the back burner and educate your hands and arms first!!!
Thanks for the comment!

What happens to left wrist after impact?is it still flexed?
Release patterns have to match the grip! In other words different grips require different release patterns.
In general I recommend the lead wrist moves into extension post impact as it re-hinges! That keeps the club face very square to the path.
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
I am right handed but swing left handed. I am 6 ft 2 in. (210 lbs) and cannot seem to release to get speed. Any suggestions Kinda of a strong grip but not much 2-3 knuckes.
Hopefully this helps! ⬇️⬇️🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Thank you for the reply.
After impact and your arms extend straight. When do you go to the reverse L. I’m struggling after impact going to the reverse L. Great videos many thanks.
Understanding that the way you grip the golf club will of course influence release patterns. For those with neutral grips, I would recommended by (P9) trail arm parallel to ground the club should form a reverse L. Those with very strong grips may delay that for longer!!
For average golfers the L to L Drill is by far the best drill in golf for learning how to use the leverage system of the arms and wrists!! Get after it!
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
In addition, yes - your arms should be fully extended post impact!! 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Many thanks Andrew.
Can you do a video on the backswing? I have no backswing I’m a descent athlete I just can not get a descent backswing which makes me come from outside to in
👏👍👏👍
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Thanks for your great material Andrew. It’s coincided with my intent to put more emphasis on my hands and arms to generate club head speed. Previously I was using too much body movement (and not enough hands and arms) in an effort to create speed. You’ve reassured me that I’m going in the right direction and provided some great step by step building blocks. Keep up the good work.
I’m so glad that my videos have helped you realize the value of creating speed with your hands and arms.
The vast majority of golfers switched off their fast twitch muscle fibers years ago and are using inflexible and very often weak bodies to drive their speed!! Fortunately there is a much easier way!

Got a question with L to L drill. At p8 I’ve seen videos that advocate having right arm and club in straight line. Which is contrary to L to L. I’m 1 handicap so not a hacker just curious what you think about the correct position at p8. Great channel by the way
That’s an outstanding question. My research indicates that golfers with a “Flexion/Extension” Release pattern tend to re-hinge later. But it should be noted that they still re-hinge and their lead wrist moves quickly from a flexed to extended position as they do this. This release is better suited to fades.
While those golfers with more neutral grips that require more of a “Rotational” Release Pattern tend to re-hinge sooner. This release pattern is better suited to draws.
There will always be exceptions as you know. Method Coaching is not my objective - It never has been! You have to find a release pattern that works best for you. I will however say that in my experience the vast majority of golfers would be well served practicing an L on both sides of their body.
Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
P.S. I’ve attached some pics of DJ and company re-hinging a little later as discussed. (They ALL send their speed somewhere - They do NOT drag the handle!

Thank you Andrew. The “L2L” drill has been helping me tremendously. Gaining speed with less effort.

Andrew is it fair to say rotate early in the downswing to square the club face and then work on flexing/extending your wrists as you releasing through the ball for speed?
Couldn’t have put it better myself!!!
Thanks for tuning in and welcome aboard!

Great explanation of the swing thank you that’s confirmed what I felt was only way I could get speed at may age
Glad it helped! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Will this cupping at the top of the backswing help increase my club head speed at impact?
The cupping at the top you want to minimize!! Right palm UP, trail elbow DOWN at the top! The speed comes from moving from an extended (cupped) lead wrist into Flexion (bowed) as you approach impact!
Thanks for watching!

Love your posts Andrew but in list in this video. I get the release pattern 1, but not clear on pattern 2 after this video. I was expecting the wrist data from the L to L type release. Maybe I’ve missed something?
Release Pattern 2 is synonymous with the L to L Drill. It requires less lower body rotation, and more forearm rotation. It’s much easier on the body. It’s been incredible for golfers that have lost speed over time. This pattern is suited to a draw.
Hack Motion has done a lot of research on wrist mechanics and these are the two predominate release patterns they see. The distinction refers to matching up the release pattern to the grip.
In my opinion - 80+(%) of golfers lack mobility and would be well suited to release pattern 2. I hope that helps?!
Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
@@AndrewEmeryGolf I think pattern 2 is definitely the one for me. However, I really fear a hook....less body rotation (? body stall) coupled with more wrist/forearm rotation seems like a really good match up for a big hook?
Articulation... Inflection.... Flexion.... Cool!
