    The idea of Jim in an actual physical car scares me

  • @starlitalpha7
    @starlitalpha7 10 років тому +3

    Jim, protips if you ever have to drive through a muddy road.
    1.If you're going to do it, do it. Don't slow down, don't panic, just drive through it tenaciously.
    2.Try reverse immediately, but don't use too much speed. You can usually back out the way you came in.
    3.If you think you're stuck, don't spin your wheels. You'll only make it worse.
    4.If you think you're stuck, go back and forth to ease yourself out. By that I mean, put it in reverse, go as far back as you can, then go to drive and go as far as you can and repeat.
    5.If all else fails, wedge a board or sheet of plywood, or anything under your drive tires (in other words, if you're driving a front wheel drive vehicle, put them under the front tires.) and use the momentum you build up on the object to get out.
    These tips come from years of doing construction work on muddy jobsites and getting stuck a fair number of times.
    But I never had to get a tow!

    Sometimes in these videos it feels to me like Jim really needs a friend sitting over his shoulder, with eyes and a brain, who can point out that maybe the truck would move better if it was using more than two wheels.
    I know Spintires is hard to work out, I wouldn't expect the advanced features to make it into a squirty play, but it says right there, in big white letters, that all wheels is off. I don't know if it's because of filming and talking, or just that a game like this is not worth putting any effort into, but a five year old would have at least been curious.

    FOR all of you guys who think: This game is shit, you can't even get out of the garage. He forgot to turn on the differential lock and all wheel drive!
    Now for the long version:
    This is a kind of simulator. You can't fly in a helicopter sim without reading through and memorizing the controls and what they do.
    First off: Jim said he does not know how to drive, so he does not have a clue about differential locking (all wheel drive is self explanatory)
    Secondly: He didn't read properly though the controlls or he would have figured out how to use the diff lock and all wheel drive.
    This game is not for everyone. Try the free demo and then decide before you bash a game because someone in a video can't get through a part of the game. Maybe you are better than them. Don't forget that most youtube "celebrities" are actually worse, than the average player in terms of "skills" but their quality and aim is viewer entertainment.

    I saw this at much earlier alpha and I have to say it is looking really good right now, it would help if Jim understood the admittedly complicated UI and cars in general better for him to appreciate the game, but the mud and water physics look and work really well.
    This is not the average shit that Jim looks at on steam and is actually good
    I hope Kurtjmac does an video on this newer release so that there is a video that shows off new features and models and shows off the real potential with this.
    I think it would be good for Jim to do a second take where he uses AWD and Difflock, and maybe checks out some other vehicles in the map.

    I was curious about this game and was wondering why it wasn’t on steam anymore. Apparently the publisher and dev got into a serious fight and the dev inserted “time-bomb” bugs into the game, causing it to crash and outright not work. The community attempted to fix the game, but then the publisher stepped in and simply pulled the plug.
    Guess it is fitting that this video ended on a sad note just like this game. Wow Stephen, you really foreshadowed hard this time.

    Modes to lessen or increase the simulation depth in regards to controls and general difficulty are why Euro Truck Sim did so well. Other games such as this one would do well to take note. Especially since this one actually seems decently put-together otherwise.

      Actually the game play is pretty good, if you know how to use drift lock and all wheel drive (which is needed when going through mud in this game)

  • @spyone4828
    @spyone4828 10 років тому

    Jim, your problem is that you never turned the all-wheel-drive on.
    Which you didn't do because you didn't know how.
    Similarly, when you changed trucks you couldn't move because you never started the engine on the second truck. Over on the left was a big red message that said "START ENGINE". I think it is a button, but I don't know since I don't own the game.
    And you've got a winch, if you look up how to use it. Hook to a tree and pull yourself out of the mud.
    This is one of those games where taking a minute to learn about what you can do and how to do it is well worth it. You don't need to master everything (like how to run the crane some vehicles have - that can wait), but learn how to turn the front wheels on, how to lock the differentials, and how to run the winch.
    I have watched several "let's play" vids of this game, and have yet to see anybody who seems to understand the gearbox, though. ;)
