It may satisfy children with attention deficit but for the rest of us a good script, and good acting by actors who made it their passion. Not just any idiot who does enough favors. But sadly, he was rarely sober. I loved the show but it turned out he lost his license for DUI. Many of their driving scenes had to b done on private roads. He couldn’t legally drive the highways.
I love the cars! I wish people today could see them, but the only way to do that, is at an auto show, or in Cuba. The way the Cubans take care of their cars is amazing. Excellent show. I love the shows my parents wouldn't let me watch, as a 3 year old.

I was a every day drunk myself, just kills me how he gives the biggest hypocritical speeches at the end of the show talking about caring the drive while he couldn't care less. I've been off TV for a few years too, I can't stand anything remotely new, I had gotten into watching Dragnet when I came across this and had never heard of it (then again I'm just 33). This show cracks me up, I imagine the law in real life would love to have that music playing to help pump them up LOL. Ted Knight also played the guy guarding the room where Norman Bates was being held in the last scene in Psycho. Makes you feel kind of uneasy seeing the only guy between Norman being a free man is Ted Baxter.
It's nice to see a shootout in the suburbs. And with well-dressed criminals, too! This is the second suburban shootout I've seen on this show. Refreshing.

After watching that 1983 movie "Christine" I can never look at a '57 or '59 Plymouth Fury or In this case a Dodge and feel comfortable. The movie shows the '58 Plymouth. Very similar years for cars in the mid to late 50's.

Christine only hurt one person that didn't hurt her first, as far as I can tell and he was the guy on the assembly line that had his hand in the hood where she closed it. What is it with quite a lot of old TV shows (it seems mostly) and old flicks that the frame and the relationship of foreground and background gets all wonky, like the original is projected on a screen that's being ruffled in the wind, and filmed again by someone who's wobbling back and forth and side to side? And the depth of field lengthens and shortens.
I can't give you a technical explanation, but basically the computer that was doing the transfer to digital wasn't fast enough to handle scenes that had a lot of motion in them.
I also saw a reply that said that when they uploaded it to YT, they checked the box for automatic stabilization. I think that is probably a better answer.
I couldn't help but notice a certain street address mentioned in this episode: 420 Crestview Drive! I thought: Just down the road from Jed Clampett's mansion! (518 Crestview drive!)
Can anyone tell me why in some of these old programs the background will distort for an instant, often when the camera is panning. It happens a few times in this episode; once just after the 10: minute mark. I have noticed it in other old shows and couldn't figure why that happens. If anyone can give me the info on that I would appreciate it. Otherwise thanks for the posts and thanks to the people comment.
When you know you are about to be hit in the gut, if you clench the stomach muscles then the punch will have almost no effect. When I see these shows I always wonder.. why don't they clench those stomach muscles when they know that the punch is coming?

Clint Eastwood made his debut TV appearance as a young motorcycle "punk" and was a great looking guy. From there he went on to scenes in early cop movies until he made it big in Misty and the Dirty Harry movies and westerns. I wonder if Highway Patrol had an influence on him. I had a 57 Buick Special once for upteem yrs. Loaded, power everything. Tell ya' , like riding on air, but the handling was HORRIBLE. Guess the speed factor played a role in rolling up to the perps vehicles, as it had great get up for it's day and could easily bury the speedometer at 120.

It had plenty of hammer, road like a cloud but one day the brake just mushed to the floor , and it seemed to pick up speed , scared the poop out of me , and I spent over a grand to have 2 different shops try and fix it , seems the brake system was only made for that year . But man was that car pretty ! It’s still one of my all time favorites!

This is a 1958 DeSoto Fireflite convertible with 361cid V-8 of 305 hp. This engine was called the "Golden Commando Power" when in a Plymouth.
Fave show when I was a kid and it made me consider a police career, for about 30 seconds when I was 7 or 8.

Yes, a '58 Windsor. The entry-level Chrysler that used the Dodge brows over the headlamps. The DeSoto Firesweep that year was similar in that aspect.
