Based on the Biblical list of spiritual gifts we have Apostles, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, etc. The speaker asserts that the role of “pastors” should be used for “church planting”which was the role of Apostles and Evangelists. His idea is that the SDA Church was built “by young people for young people”. This of course is not true. For ill informed people this kind of preaching might sound inspiring and motivating but the truth is elsewhere…
You are 100% right. In fact in the new testament they had settled, trained, paid leaders. AKA Pastors. "Social Meetings" You can't teach what you have not learned. 1. 2 Timothy 4:2 "Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." The words “in season and out of season” are prepositions meaning when they are popular and when they are not - at all times keep preaching the word. 2. In Acts 2 - Peter in his Pentecost address we have the introduction of the “2 witnesses” as the basis for converting people - planting the church he basically says, “ look we have two witnesses (a Jewish necessity) Here we have the prophets (Old testament) and then you have us (the apostles) as the second witness. Now the apostles wrote this down and it became the new testament. So Peter taught the scriptures and so did Paul over and over. Read the NT and count the number of times he argues from the scripture. TRAINED 2 Timothy 2:15 emphasize the importance of rightly handling the word of truth, indicating that elders should be knowledgeable in biblical texts. -- 1 Timothy 3:2, one of the qualifications for an overseer is the ability to teach. This implies that elders needed to be trained not only in the content of Scripture but also in how to teach and communicate that content effectively to others. -- There were no Seminaries however, the apostolic model included mentoring relationships. For example, in the case of Timothy, Paul served as a mentor who provided guidance and instruction. As elders were appointed, they learned from those already in position, gaining wisdom through observation and direct instruction. PAID 1 Corinthians 9:14: Paul mentions that "the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel." - You will see below that they WERE Settled. -- 1 Timothy 5:17-18: This passage indicates that elders who lead well, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching, are worthy of double honor, which some interpret as including financial support. The verse quotes Deuteronomy 25:4, which states, "You shall not muzzle an ox when it treads out the grain," suggesting that those who work for the church should receive compensation for their work. SETTLED: In Revelation 1:16, John describes seeing Christ holding seven stars in His right hand. Later, in Revelation 1:20, the mystery of the seven stars is explained: Interpretation: The seven stars represent the angels (or messengers) of the seven churches. The traditional, and most accepted view, including the SDA church is that these angels refer to the spiritual leaders (Settled pastors/bishops) of each church. ---You might argue that they aren’t “settled” but then how would they be the pastors of these churches? -- Next let's look at the church of Jerusalem -The clear leader or “settled pastor” was James - in the counsel of Jerusalem there was lots of discussion etc. Then James speaks and says here is the end of the matter - Clearly the settled leader you can study it for yourselves. -- Next let's look at when Paul writes to Timothy about how to lead the church of God - he is not writing to a group of untrained laity but to ONE man. -- Next Titus When Paul writes to Titus he says to appoint elders in every city. First the fact that he is writing to Titus means that he is one man - in charge. second it is to appoint leaders in each city. This is not appointing leaders to roam around but settled pastors. They taught the word, They WERE Trained, they WERE Settled, They WERE paid.
@ indeed. As for the SDA Church being “built by young people for young people” those who promote those views neglect the fact that Joseph Bates, besides James and Ellen White who indeed were young , was one of the most prominent early pioneers. He was in his 50s when he joined the movement and he provided significant financial support for it. Hiram Edson was in his late 30s, and John Byington, the first president of the organised SDA Church was in his 60s. SDA Church was not built for young people but for anyone who wants to hear and follow the message…

Cutting to the chase!
I hope Micheff listen to this sermon and took it to heart….
I hope any church dependent on their Pastor will be guided by the Holy Spirit when listening to this.
The Midnight Cry song was so beautiful, but to be Biblically correct, it should be when Michael sounds the call not Gabriel 🙏
