This is my interpretation of Phillip after this episode. I don't think he is "using" this new group at all. I just think he will do monstrous things to keep his new significant other and daughter alive. He kills Martinez for 2 reasons. First of all, Martinez flat out told Phillip that he didnt know if he could protect the group which is a mistake lol. And secondly, Martinez is a part of his past, thus why he is screaming "i dont want it!" as he is killing him. He doesnt want that part of his past constantly around him. Also he kills Pete cause Pete cant make the hard choices. Phillip can. So in Phillip's mind, the only way for his new family to live on, is if he kills Martinez and Pete and then takes over. That's what makes him 'The Governor'. I don't think he is TRYING to play anyone, I just think it naturally goes that way because he genuiely believes this is the best possible way that his new family will survive. And that's why he has become the monster that he is.
Absolutely. Philip was also saying he "didn't want it". I do believe he didn't want the "crown" because that meant being in charge of people again and last time he was, look what happened. He doesn't want that for this family and his new life. I do believe he was trying to escape his past because he /knew/ what he could become in that role, and I think he was willing to give Martinez a chance since he wasn't bringing up their past until Martinez said he could "try" to protect the camp. I think Philip would've been fine with him leading if he /hadn't/ said that because I do think he was /trying/ to be a new person. To do that, he can't be in the role he was before but he also needs to be sure people he cares about are safe, and Martinez didn't think he could necessarily guarantee that. That forces Philip to retake the leadership role, but that also forces him to accept that he's going to return to being who he used to be, which is why he "doesn't want it", but if being that way guarantees their safety, he'll do it. Like he told Milton, if his daughter saw him now she'd be scared of him, but if he'd been this way from the start she'd still be alive. Since I know Lacey and Steve have watched the next episode I'll add this too: the reason Meghan died wasn't his fault, either. He wasn't present at the time and it should've been her mother's responsibility to watch her more closely. Not to say Philip isn't at fault in any way, shape or form because he was busy /attacking the prison/, but that was /also/ for his new family to keep them safe. He was willing to go drastic lengths for that cause. It's also worth noting that yes, he killed the people of Woodbury, but he didn't have the affection for them that he has for Lilly and Megan. He didn't care about any of those people. I do think he means it this time when he says he wants to protect them. I think if Philip hadn't run into Martinez OR they agreed to move on, OR Philip had moved farther away in the first place that none of this would've happened. I think Philip had the potential to get better (because I do feel he's become so traumatized from losing his family - especially Penny - that it's what created The Governor side of him) if he had just /gotten away/ and started over. I don't really totally see him as a bad person, but more like just a human being who will do awful things for people he cares about. It's not great by any means, but I'd definitely call him antagonist to Rick more than a general villain.
Nope. Your theory doesn't explain why he would have killed the other man from this group Pete. The common factor between both Pete and Martinez was the fact they did not want to attack other groups. The Governor throughout this series attacked and stole from every group they encountered and the only one he failed at was Rick's. His motivation was to take over and finish the job. This is the classic example of what a narcissist and psychopath would do. His psychopathic tendencies were on display throughout this series. He only cared about people when they filled a purpose in his life and had no real feelings for anyone. Although he cared for the little girl the fact that he showed no emotion when she died is a clear indicator that once she was no longer a use (substitute for his real daughter) he could care less about her or the memory of her.
When he is shouting "I don't want it!" when he is killing Martinez it's another side of him that doesn't want the power and responsibility of leadership but he can't stop himself from taking it.
That's a great interpretation of that quote. Another way to look at it is that he doesn't want his past constantly chasing him around. And with Martinez alive and as leader, his past will always be a part of his present self.
Right, but since martinez states he may not be able to protect him- he goes into survival mode. He is trying to not make the mistakes he made before w his little girl- like a 2nd chance.
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my login password. I love any tips you can give me.
@Kenneth Kyle I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
You guys are giving the Governor way more credit than he's due. He might be a manipulator but he isn't a long con puppet master. The thing you have to remember is that he's also very impulsive. He's able to quickly adapt to unexpected situations but every time he's had a loss was because he recklessly reacted without thinking ahead. Case in point: Slaughtering his drafted civilian army in a blind rage was how he lost Woodbury.
Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing. The chick seems to see Philip as a mastermind who's NEVER genuine and NEVER lost. He clearly isn't. A good half of what he does isn't manipulation at all. He's just nuts (and good at hiding it), and you can be nuts and have feelings at the same time. That's what makes him such a compelling villain (unlike Negan, who's a caricature).
Martinez would have been a sick character , him and Daryl were quite similar , their duo would have been sick , in season 3 they were together at an episode
JHolland I thought that Daryl would be the one to kill him as well since they kinda set it up and Martinez even told him that soon Rick and the Gov would say it’s time to fight and then Daryl and Martinez would have fought a few days later and Daryl would have won b/c Merle would have probably still been alive and they easily would have two on oned him.
I never saw it as the Gov having any ulterior motives when he met the sisters. He did knock on the door to say good buy, but there were many instances where he totally avoided contact. He put the plate down in the hallway, he didn't eat the plate of food, etc. He coulda shined-up getting the backgammon set, the oxygen tanks, etc, but he avoided contact instead. Well... I guess he went for some contact in the back of the van.
I know Governor is evil but he isn’t responsible for all the bad things that happened. He didn’t kill those people on that camp. He wanted to but it wasn’t him. He was with the other two guys the whole time.
Philip was very similar to Hershel at the start he was against killing anyone but after he discovered Woodbury and his reluctant ways got Penny hurt he changed bc he was ashamed that he allowed it to happen bc he thought he could be fair in this new world. Hershel and Philip also believed that walkers are still who they were before but are just sick not dead that's why Philip was trying to cure Penny with Milton. Philip hating that his good intentions lead to Penny being hurt and his paranoia made him do the things he did as the governor and when he became remorseless it was because he lost any reason to live except to get revenge he would kill or lie to anyone who is in Woodbury or arrives at Woodbury bc he was a terrified of Penny being discovered and killed. Protecting people he cares about was the motive behind his kills and deception it's also explained in the comics that he kept the heads to make himself mentally stronger it's in a governor comic.
the gov. was actually trying to be different. he saw this as his opportunity for a new life, new family; a second chance. he would've made it too if there were no more ties to his former life he tried to burn away. once he hooked up w martinez and he started reliving his power years, it was all over. when it was just the surrogate family, he was good. but when he was faced w power of a group of ppl on a silver platter, it was too much for him to overcome. he actually had a moment of clarity and tried to run in the middle of the night, and got caught bc the bridge was out. that to him was a sign that he needed to stay and stop trying to change. you can only ignore your inner sociopathy for so long bf you self destruct.
Gov didn't kill that group. That was all about a comparison of the 2 brothers. One too good for his own good and one willing to do whatever (just like the Gov). He genuinely wanted to leave during that night scene. He knew what he was about to do and was conflicted. I guess he's not good at being honest with himself .... about the sick bastard that he is. When we watch this "real time" we have the benefit of discussing among eachother, interviews with the actors, writers, etc. Even a TV show discussing it. The fact that you guys get things right 99 percent of the time.. while not having those things, is impressive.
Got to say it.....this time Duo, you're way off base with your interpretations of Phillip. After the first attack on the prison failed and going nuts killing everyone supporting him, he basically withdrew from the world for a while. Finding this family along the way was reminding him of the family he once had...his wife, his daughter. But back then, he couldn't keep them safe and he lost them. Once in Woodbury, he was of the mind that I'll do anything to keep our people safe...which turned him into a Jekyll and Hyde monster. So now....with being with this family, he's feeling that monstrous protective part rise to the surface again. Remember, he said "I won't loose you again". He's referring to the wife he lost and he sees this woman and her daughter as his own, like the ones he once had before. So, killing Martinez...it wasn't Phillip assuming power, he saw him as a liability because Martinez wasn't sure if he could protect the group. Killing the brother, he saw him as weak and playing things too safe to protect the people...so kill him too. All of this, all in the name of protection...in his mind. That's all the Governor has been about all this time...protection, at all costs. Right reasons...completely evil ways of handling it. Rick is the same way, all about protecting his group too....but he's retained his humanity. Phillip has not.
@@theIconOwns I would want to stay as far away from them as possible. Although I'm not sure if they could work together lol. They probably could since they're both such assholes 😊
I think your interpretation is spot on with Philip except for one thing. I believe he was about protecting his family at all cost. But I also believe that he was a power hungry fool that couldn't deal with anyone else in charge and he was hell bent on revenge on Rick and he was just evil. He wanted ( and did in Woodbury) to kill anyone they ran across. Instead of seeing good people as an asset or at least as just good people who weren't bothering him at all he wanted them all dead. He was definitely a great villain, lol. Made me despise him lol
The Governor is one of the best villians ever. He started out just some office guy working a job he hates and look what he has become, a monster. That's why I love this show..these people could be any of us.
The moment he decided to take it all (want it), was when he took his family away and drive up to those mud walkers. There isn’t any safe place. So that’s when he decides to want it and take over. He killed Martinez because he didn’t want it. Martinez said to share the crown and Brian didn’t want that again. After he saw Pete display “weak” leadership he wanted to leave but realizes the best way to keep his family safe is if he takes charge. I remember the convo between Milton and the governer in season 3. Milton says, “what would your family think of you.” To which the governer responds, “if I was like this from the start they’d still be alive”
Im pretty sure the Governor didnt kill that group of men. He was with the other two the whole time, and the group that killed them took all their supplies. However the Governor did agree with the bald dude about attacking them and taking their supplies. Just thought Id clear that up. Anyways Great Reaction as Always. Love u Guys.
Gov spared Mitch b/c Mitch wasn’t afraid to do evil things to keep the camp alive. I also think that Mitch reminded him of Merle since Merle was one of Philips best lieutenants for months way b4 he and Daryl reunited. Gov figured if he killed Pete then Mitch would fall in line since he had a problem w/ his last lieutenant and his brother
@@alfredstimoli2590 re read the first few sentences of my og comment. I said Mitch wasn’t afraid of doing evil things to keep the camp going which is kinda saying the same thing
I absolutely hate the Governor but just re-watching this after 9 seasons of twd, the Governor is personally my favourite villain and the best villain within the series imo! Also the actor playing as the Governor did he's role justice! Man I love watching you guys react to twd when it was in it's peak!!
He didn't wanted all of this, but he had to, he said to Milton that if he was like that since the beginning his daughter would be alive, and how would you treat guy who say to your face that you can't protect your family, Rick almost killed Shane because of that Governor is the best villain in this show and one of the best in all tv series, and what makes him amazing is that even after all his awful and disgusting actions you still love him in his episodes, because he has different sides and not only big bad wolf stuff
You can see that really wants to revert back to the family man he once was before the apocalypse and to just go to a quiet place to raise Meghan, have another chance at being a father and husband again but the world of the twd will not let anyone change he will always need to kill and take to survive, the tales of the walking dead will explain Phillip more I'm interested in seeing how Phillip went from being the hesitant, benevolent man he was to being the unstable governor that Milton was terrified of.
About the tank origin, it came from Fort Bennings and this confirms that the military base got overran either in S2 when the two guys (Tony and Dave) visited Rick, Hershel and Glenn in the pub as they told Rick, Fort Bennings got overran, or it happened after the confrontation as Tony and Dave weren’t trustworthy anyways and probably lied in order to lure Rick.
this is where you see Philip ego gets the best of him , and the downfall begin , cant wait for the mid season 4 finale .. sincerely a true supporting fan of duos wonderful people in the world
The Governor is going back to his old ways again the reason he killed Martinez is because he knew who The Governor was and the last thing that he wants is Martinez exposing him to the group also the reason he killed Pete is because he thought that he was weak and didn't have what it takes to be a leader
Actually the Governor didn't kill the other camp, as he was with those two the whole time. Also he would have had to move all the Supplies in a really short amount of time, which he didn't have. In addition I don't think he was manipulating until after he ran away from this new camp, he was basically trying to keep the little girl safe, and he felt that the one guys way was not going to. Also he killed Martinez because of the same reason, Martinez said he would "try" to keep the camp safe, which wasn't good enough. The problem is he is mentally unstable and we see that only after he gets the power position.
He was changed but then slowly turned back into The Governor. Michonne was the one leaving messages for The Governor out there. She mentioned she was 'looking' for The Governor earlier on. Surprised NOBODY else ever noticed that online. I feel like I'm the only one who connected the dots since Michonne's the one with the grudge lol. Loved how Governor tried to kill himself but looked back at the family and knew he had to live to protect them. Best villain of the entire seasons imo. So many layers to his complicated character. Governor's quotes bring me CHILLS during this episode. Guy is an amazing manipulator. Why couldn't we see more villains like him in this show? It's bullshit we couldn't see more guys like Governor.
This reaction, particularly, made me realize how much I enjoy when you guys dig deep. Because I came to an entirely different conclusion about Phillip when I had watched. I always felt like he was really trying to change, but just kept being put into circumstances that he could've either chosen to do things differently, if he'd really changed, or fall back into his old rhythm, and he slowly fell back into what he had grown accustomed to. Almost like a recovering alcoholic who keeps finding themselves around unattended alcohol or something and just can't help themselves. Like he just couldn't shake The Governor, because regardless of who he used to be or who he wanted to be, The Governor is him now and that's not going to change easily.
@@amyfender1 Thank you! I also had never thought about it the way that Steve and Lacey had either, but that's why I love the dialogue. Everyone's take can be different and it opens your eyes to other perspectives you hadn't even thought about
The pair of brothers reminds me a lot of merle and daryl and I think that's what they wanted to be able to make comparisons to the Rick group. In particular, what different leader types can do from each group. On both sides are actually normal people. People who are influenced differently. That's the interesting one.
Clearly the governor was fighting with his own demons: PTSD. He really was trying to turn over a new leaf and was even running away with his new family from himself. I LOVE this episode solely because it that he was trying to lead a better life for once and was struggling. Love this show on how its not just a simple entertaining show with action and so on, it pertains in a real realistic point of view on how the world would change us and what choices would make, what we feel can get away with, with their being no law, government that everything you decided, thinking their are no consequences, well little but you lead your life whether good or bad and what you may feel your pushed to do or regret. This show is so self reflection and well I'm more then certain then what is already going on in the real world would get bad as this show and worse. I hate the governor but pity him and even as psychotic as he was it was refreshing and enlightening to see him given a chance back at his humanity, to start a different page rather then trying to be good and kill himself. Trying to be reborn which we have a chance at doing when not leading an ideal civil life. PTSD though is a terrifying thing that rules people but can be managed if not healed.
I think that when Martinez, Phillip and Phillips new fake wife were all sitting at the table drinking beer is when Phillip decided Martinez had to die. It was based on jealousy. Martinez and fake wifey were laughing and having fun picking on Phillip about how she wanted to hear all about his past and she said "this is the first time I've felt safe since all of this started." Phillip looked at her like he couldn't believe she had just said that . She didn't notice because she was too busy laughing with Martinez but you could tell that Phillip was pissed. He seemed to be thinking "what, you never felt safe with me?" That's when Martinez's fate was sealed.
So glad you're so excited for the next episode. I think we all are. Now all the pieces are in place. With efficiency, "Brian" has once again become the man in charge. There are some nice touches in this episode. Tara's budding romance. "Brian's" new trophy lake (Now with 57000% more space). And who can forget, the beautiful new tank. Complete with trained driver. I'm sure that tank won't have any bearing on whatever "Brian's" plans are. Nope. None. While I'm sure you wanted a quicker resolution to the Gov. popping up a few episodes ago, I enjoyed the pacing of this season so far. It's fleshed out characters, introduced some new ones, and kept the flow moving. So are you ready? Until next time, keep on keeping on.
After this episode I actually do believe Philip when he said he kept the tanks of heads to remind himself what was out there and all that. Like yeah I'm sure it's also for trophies and all that but... in this episode he keeps insisting it's not safe and then he goes to that lake to look at walker Pete, as if to remind himself again and again it's not safe there, and that he /has/ to attack the prison, because that's what's right to protect this group. Like he's preparing himself for what he thinks he has to do.
Redemption is a big theme with this season, with several characters dealing with what they've done in the apocalypse: Philip, Rick and Morgan have all suffered losses and dealt with them in their own ways. In one of the earlier episodes this season, Hershel tells Rick 'you can come back', meaning that you can do what you need to do to survive in the world as it is now and still retain your humanity. Rick's done that, and Philip is trying to do it in this episode. He kills Martinez because Martinez is a threat to him and his new life: he can expose him for the person he was. Then when he loads everyone up in the car and tries to run, he is running away from being the Governor. He knows if he stays with the group, he will take over and remake the group into Woodbury 2, and he doesn't want that now. He wants to be with his new wife and his new daughter. But then when he runs into the zombie 'roadblock', he realizes that this world won't let him be anything but the Governor.
This episode is pretty much Brian having to face pieces of his past as the Governor. And when he killed Martinez, he was trying to resist it. But when he had taken over the camp, and the camp was attacked, he pretty much knows to keep his new family safe and everyone else safe, he might have tap back into the Governor.
I love to hate the Governor! You can read his back story in a book on Amazon. Basically it is about the person he was b4 and how the change happened into the Governor- pretty much centers around his daughter. Mainly he wants to protect his people at all costs.
Lacey, i agree with you that i thought it was the governor also that killed the group but watching it back, that was alot against one man and martinez's guys would have heard some yelling or gunshots. So i don't think it was Philip.
the hate for Philip cracks me up, yet Carol is cool for her cold blooded killing, these reactions to Philip always crack me up cause everyone in this show are not nice people. the snark is off the charts.
I think the brother (Mitch) was not killed for 2 reasons, because he's a follower/ willing to do whatever he's told to do... but especially because he is the one who knows how to operate the tank.
Just a little heads up guys im not quite sure when they start but keep watching the episodes nearer the end of the season after the credits there are some episodes that have clips after the credits so watch them right to the end I think they start in season 5 but I cant be 100% keep up the great videos love watching it all over again with you guys give us a wee shout out all the best Scotty.
I’m late to these reactions but it’s shame the last two episodes you haven’t really gotten it. They are amazing episodes but because you don’t trust Phillip (understandable) you couldn’t look past his governor past and see the story that was actually being told. Enjoying this series though.
i swear phillip is easily my most hated bad guy. however he probably the most clever and manipulative bad guy ... on another note how dumb was martinez to trust phillip
I always love your reactions and your thoughtful insights but as I mentioned last episode, its interesting how a preconceived notion can affect how you look at someone. I felt very frustrated that you were so jaded about the Gov that it felt like you missed out on the subtleties of his arc. I really dint think he was planning ahead to any of this. I think he truly wanted to forget Phillip. Even Milton remembered Phillip from before and how he was not the same man. He lost his wife then his daughter and he twisted from there. I think he had no sinister motive when he met the girls. (Funny that Megan saw him on the street and thought it was her father...and he saw her in the window and thought it was his daughter). He took the name Brian so he could forget Philip. He burned the picture because he was letting go of the past. Then he felt a bond with the girls and ghats why he was leaving and that why he knocked to say goodbye. Not to trick them into coming with. I think when he was stumbling through the woods and field after the van broke down chased by walkers was just random, no forethought that he was going to the pits. I really think he had that epiphany but little by little things kept happening that poked at all the fears that he was trying to forget. Teaching Megan chess was just that even though it served as a foreshadow. When they found the guy in the cabin he had taken the heads just like he used to so it brought him back. Then they started talking about their pasts which lead to Martinez saying ‘ice in the veins’ so the Gov changed the topic bc he really didn’t want to talk about it at all. Martinez with the golf balls reminds him of what he did in Woodbury and then on top of that he offers him to help lead which sets him off. I don’t think he killed that other group bc they never let him out of their sight but the way the brothers were so opposite...one with Gov mentality the other with the ‘Brian’ mentality, got him thinking. When he left that night it really was to get his new family away from that but the road was blocked so he had to go back. If they got away that night he might have recovered. So bit by bit all the little things wore away the Brian until only a few threads remained to hold back the old Phillip that wants to protect his new ‘family’ and he doesn’t want to lose them again. Well, at least thats what I took from it all😊
Lacey described the Governor the right way. He's a freakin NARCIST. And from the moment he dissapears in the season 3 finale until this point, about 3 months have passed by.
Yep. The fact that Philip showed up at the prison at the end of E6 is a clue that he didn't change, because I'm pretty sure you never thought that he was there to pay a pleasant visit, did you? lol Can you imagine, tho? The Gov'na "Hey Rick! How're ya? Things ok with you folks? Sorry about the mess I left you with? I came back to make it up to you'all." Um...nah, I doubt you even went near that possibility. 🤣🤣 Martinez should have known....smh. 😒 Now Michonne (& Hershel) is in his sights. Dun-dun-dun!!! Will the nightmare called the Governor never end? Great reaction! 😊🌺🏝️❤️
The thing about the governor is that he is all about protection at all cost. He has unintentionally attached himself to this new family as a replacement for his real family and he won't lose them again. The only reason he assumes power here is because he doesn't trust these people to protect his family. Phillip didn't start off as a bad person. This new world has made him this way. This world does one of two things to you. It either brings out your best or it brings out your worst. The same thing happened to Shane. The Shane we saw in the first episode loved Rick and his family and would never have done anything to hurt any of them, but this world made him realize that you had to do anything to protect what was yours. When Rick re-entered their lives, he saw Rick's decisions as weak and dangerous and a threat to protecting Laurie and Carl. Phillip didn't attack that group, someone else did. That look on his face was more about the differences between the two brothers. One values everyone's survival, even strangers, and he wasn't willing to take their supplies and the other brother values their groups survival over everything else. Phillip really does try to take the girls and completely leave the area but when they run across the washed out road with the walkers stuck in it, he realizes there is only one place he knows of that would be safe. If Phillip hadn't run across that family he probably would have just kept on walking until he died and never given the prison another thought. You guys are doing really well on the predictions, especially since you don't have Talking Dead to watch after each episode, but on this one, you've got Phillip a little wrong. He really was trying to leave the governor persona behind him and really try to keep this family safe, almost like a redemption. It's almost sad that circumstances brought him right back into that position.
He was a kind, timid person at the start, and that was the reason Penny was killed. He cared about her but he was too afraid of the new world to fight for her life, and this was the catalyst for his self hatred and his desire to turn himself into the man he should have been when she wasn't a walker. He had to collect the heads because he was so afraid, and he forced himself to do terrible things so he could get used to it. He can feel the same thing happening at Martinez's camp. He doesn't want to become a brutal person again but he knows if nobody can protect the camp, and he doesn't fight for his new family that history will repeat itself. Killing Martinez was because of his sheer panic, and rage caused by the thought of having to abandon his morality again. Pete's doubts, and offer to help him just confirms his fears and he tries to flee so he doesn't have take over His attempt to flee fails, and he reverts back to being brutal but becoming "The Governor" again doesn't save his family. It's kills family, and the good in him...
Is no one gonna mention the switch in Philip when Martinez mentions the leaky roof? That rubbed Philip the wrong way. That set in motion of Philip looking at Martinez side ways.
Hi guys loved the vid as always but think your ideas are well off in this one. The reason he killed Martinez is because Martinez was basically saying all the wrong things at the wrong time, about sharing the crown and was uncertain about being able to protect everyone. Phillip really does want to protect his new surrogate family. Part of him does not want the power but he just can`t help himself. He killed one brother because the guy was just too nice but Phillip sees that as weakness in this world, not doing what as to be done. The other brother is a useful henchman plus is the tank driver, again useful. No way did Philip destroy that other camp single handed, think you are giving him way too much credit. He was out with those other guys the whole time, how did he sneak off unnoticed and shoot everyone without anyone hearing gunshots, i know he is evil but he can`t just disappear and re-appear. I also believe he genuinely tried to leave with the new family that night but the walkers stopped that and basically fate forced his hand. It was then he felt it was almost a sign and that it was the chance to start thinking about the prison again. Whew sorry for such a long post guys, but that means it was a real interesting episode right?
I mean if I was leading a camp I would have stolen the supplies from the other camp because I mean let's be honest it's survival of the fittest in the apocalypse.
Philip yelling "I don't want it" has multiple meanings. He doesn't want Martinez around to constantly remind him of his past, and doesn't want the responsibility of leading, but he believes he has to kill Martinez because of the latter's confession. It also wasn't Philip who killed the group he, Pete, and Mitch ran into, it was someone else (he was with them the whole time). The scene instead serves as "affirmation" for Philip that Pete is incapable of making hard decisions, and therefore is also incapable of being a leader (otherwise they would've been able to claim the supplies themselves). Philip also isn't being selfish, he does genuinely care about Meghan and Lilly (not sure about Tara though). While he is manipulating everyone into helping him attack the Prison, he's not doing it for revenge, but rather because he knows the place will be a safe haven for his new group. Safe for Meghan. It's not looking good for Rick and the others, considering how they're still recovering from the infection (and have lost a good number of people).
I'm pretty sure the governor didn't kill that group. I'm glad we got these Governor episodes. Villian characters should be just as interesting and important as your Hero's!
sadly for me, the governor episodes this season where my fav. and best of this whole season. To me he was the best villain and the actor that played him did a great job.
Come on Lacy the Governor was this thosr other 2 guys the entire time. He didn't murder that whole other camp. I know ya hate him we all do but geez lol
And it wasn't him, it was another group who took all their stuff How could it be Phillip if he was with two guys whole time and he couldn't put all of their stuff in his ass to hide it
Oh my god. I just noticed something that I didn't notice before. And it foreshadowed what was coming up. I'll let you know on Friday. Ah! I'm so ready for the next episode. That Governor is going full steam ahead on his crazy train and he ain't stopping. In his head it's like, "Choo choo!" LOL!! But sure as hell better stop pointing that gun at Michonne and Hershel. I understand why he's pointing it a Michonne. But Hershel? That's like aiming it at Santa Claus. Smh, where's Carol when you actually need her? CAROL! COME BACK! - Yvette
I think you guys are extremely biased against Philip because of his previous actions and you didn't even realize that he had lost all hope wandering around aimlessly before he met that family. That is not to say the old Philip won't eventually come back, but he was NOT scheming or using anyone last episode and that stuff with him and the family was 100% genuine, apart from him being evasive about his past. You saw him standing outside the prison so your assuming he has some kind of agenda he is working towards, but your totally wrong about that he had no agenda when he met those people and he didn't even care if he lived or died until those people gave him reason to care about something again.
Ooohhhhhh I am really looking forward to your reaction to...stuff. And the characters reactions to, things. Sometimes difficult to comment on things when one is completely up to date.
Totally agree
Exactly and while trying to protect them he lost himself again and truly became a monster
And he probably could have been redeemed but when the time came unlike shane who couldn’t commit the final act to truly become a monster he did

@Kenneth Kyle I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now.

If Hershel had lost his daughters and wife then discovered a group of people and took leadership he could have turned out the same way as Philip did.
O
the gov. was actually trying to be different. he saw this as his opportunity for a new life, new family; a second chance. he would've made it too if there were no more ties to his former life he tried to burn away. once he hooked up w martinez and he started reliving his power years, it was all over. when it was just the surrogate family, he was good. but when he was faced w power of a group of ppl on a silver platter, it was too much for him to overcome. he actually had a moment of clarity and tried to run in the middle of the night, and got caught bc the bridge was out. that to him was a sign that he needed to stay and stop trying to change. you can only ignore your inner sociopathy for so long bf you self destruct.
Agreed
Well said, the Governor shared the same mindset as Shane..keep Lorie and Carl safe at any cost...
@Sheree Grimes - imagine a group with the Governor and Shane as the leaders, don't think anyone would ever mess with them.
The Governor is one of the best villains on TWD.
We love to hate him, which shows what a great actor David Morrissey is.
The Truth, sooo Truth.
The Governor is one of the best villians ever. He started out just some office guy working a job he hates and look what he has become, a monster. That's why I love this show..these people could be any of us.
Ye
He spared Mitch because he wasn't scared of getting his hands dirty and because he could operate the tank.
@@alfredstimoli2590 re read the first few sentences of my og comment. I said Mitch wasn’t afraid of doing evil things to keep the camp going which is kinda saying the same thing
O
You got it Lacey! He made a new “souvenir” tank... 😳
I absolutely hate the Governor but just re-watching this after 9 seasons of twd, the Governor is personally my favourite villain and the best villain within the series imo! Also the actor playing as the Governor did he's role justice! Man I love watching you guys react to twd when it was in it's peak!!
He has always been my favorite villain!

David Morrissey is fantastic in general.
Wow Lacy seems to have a hatred of the governor that transcends reason lol
He didn't wanted all of this, but he had to, he said to Milton that if he was like that since the beginning his daughter would be alive, and how would you treat guy who say to your face that you can't protect your family, Rick almost killed Shane because of that
Governor is the best villain in this show and one of the best in all tv series, and what makes him amazing is that even after all his awful and disgusting actions you still love him in his episodes, because he has different sides and not only big bad wolf stuff
I never thought of Pete in the water as Phillips new tanks. Made my jaw drop
I never liked the Governor, but he was so good at being bad. The next episode is amazing.
Phyllis 9654 amazing you mean ones of the best episode of the show which is legendary because we will never forget that episode
Lacey has been so wrong about everything for the last two episodes 😂
Lacey thinks she's a genius but she's actually slow af lol
Also thank u guys for checking out my Shout-Out video yesterday and continue to Duo it
this is where you see Philip ego gets the best of him , and the downfall begin , cant wait for the mid season 4 finale .. sincerely a true supporting fan of duos wonderful people in the world
The Governor is going back to his old ways again the reason he killed Martinez is because he knew who The Governor was and the last thing that he wants is Martinez exposing him to the group also the reason he killed Pete is because he thought that he was weak and didn't have what it takes to be a leader
That was my opinion too. He found that situation is is gonna blame it on Rick & Co. to motivate his new group.
Crystal Jackman Wow, awesome awesome comment! And yes, I agree with you . I hadn't thought about it like that but it makes perfect sense
He didn’t snap till Martinez said “he dosent know if he can keep the group alive” or keep everyone safe and after that he went mad and did everything
Couldn't be further from the truth lol
@@knightmayor1703 lol, you could very well be right 😉
It was someone else who killed that group and he was like we need to leave because he can see he can't trust that dude in charge
You all are awesome (as usual!) I love your analysis and observations--you know Philip so well! :D

Can’t wait to see you react to the next episode! See you...until 4/8!!!
i swear phillip is easily my most hated bad guy. however he probably the most clever and manipulative bad guy ... on another note how dumb was martinez to trust phillip

Pete's doubts, and offer to help him just confirms his fears and he tries to flee so he doesn't have take over
His attempt to flee fails, and he reverts back to being brutal but becoming "The Governor" again doesn't save his family. It's kills family, and the good in him...
Up next, the mid season finale!!!! Great reaction!!! Can’t wait for the next one!!
Is no one gonna mention the switch in Philip when Martinez mentions the leaky roof? That rubbed Philip the wrong way. That set in motion of Philip looking at Martinez side ways.
Its a metaphor it shows the roof leaking is his governor persona leaking out of his attempt to change

*btw Lacey, yellow looks super good on you and that's a HARD color to pull off! 😘👌
2 straight episodes without rick and crew! This show does this from time to time to introduce new characters
The next episode is one of the best of the whole series can’t wait to see your reaction
12:34 well who didn’t see that com..... I mean OH NO NOT WHATS HIS NAME!
I mean if I was leading a camp I would have stolen the supplies from the other camp because I mean let's be honest it's survival of the fittest in the apocalypse.
Watching the same ep S4 Ep8 right with ya. I came back I was hanging in in Season 6
Good morning everyone have a blessed wonderful day much love from San Antonio..

The next episode is amazing!!! Here’s to Friday!
Need next episode right now haha
@@CraigKostelecky i do it in the future, right now im poor :'(
I'm pretty sure the governor didn't kill that group. I'm glad we got these Governor episodes. Villian characters should be just as interesting and important as your Hero's!
it was the claimers maybe they were in that area and they didn't have a camp also the claimers raid camps.
Next episode is going to be amazing. Hate the governor so much. Can't wait for it!!
sadly for me, the governor episodes this season where my fav. and best of this whole season. To me he was the best villain and the actor that played him did a great job.
Come on Lacy the Governor was this thosr other 2 guys the entire time. He didn't murder that whole other camp. I know ya hate him we all do but geez lol
Cant wait for the second half of this season and next season!! I'm so ready! In a lot of ways I feel like the show reeeaally starts now.
And it wasn't him, it was another group who took all their stuff
How could it be Phillip if he was with two guys whole time and he couldn't put all of their stuff in his ass to hide it
CAROL! COME BACK!

Love the reactions! Can't wait for more
Ooohhhhhh I am really looking forward to your reaction to...stuff. And the characters reactions to, things. Sometimes difficult to comment on things when one is completely up to date.
Edit: without giving spoilers.
I like Lacey saying they got a tank.....you'll know what I mean....
Hope you're ready for the next one!
💥🤯💔
I can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode.
