I'm kinda disappointed in the lack of fishing games, or virtual pet games for that matter. Honestly, I feel like this system was built for those genres.
don't worry...these games are made by one guy for this console.... "squidgod" made virtual pet and fishing game too...not just that, he dedicated his whole channel on playdate content...do check out highly recommended
Found this video randomly looking for Playdate content... Really enjoyed the narrator! Such a soothing voice to listen to. Overall really enjoyed this video~
I hope that's not the order. I have to wait until the end to play Ratcheteer😭 BUMMER. Either way I think at least 14 games I'm interested in and when you factor in games like Midnight at Mars and Real Steal. Playdates going to be a very special device.
Great overview, put please next time replace the elevator music with the game sounds. Do you know how to make a clone with a Teensy, a Adafruit Memory display and a rotary controller/
Great video. This was kind of one of my fears... I figured that a LOT of games would rely heavily on the crank in the early games, and I'm of the opinion that the crank should be used cleverly (like in Time Travel Adventures) but not as a novelty with people trying to just build games around it or force it into every game. I bought the Keyper which so far doesn't seem to use the crank, and I am really enjoying it even though it's still early into the game. I want a variety of games for the system (and I plan on making some of my own as well.... I learned the C API before my playdate arrived and have some graphics and music assets ready to go.
interesting spread of games there. They made the site free were you can make your own games so i'm interested to see what "homebrew" games come out of that. I think someone already showed doom ported/recreated in it
Thanks for the Video. It acutally saved me some money. I really love the concept of playdate. When I think of it, I get really excited. I imagine incredible stuff on this lovely machine. BUT when I see the acutal gameplay of the available games it's like a reality check. They are cool, but they lack depth. If they get fresh games with more content like the Gameboy versions of Zelda, Final Fantasy or Pokemon, I'm in. Basically we need real RPGs.
No way haha. Ps vita can emulate so many consoles, and if you're emulating already that means free vita games. The playdate is a novelty, it's new and it's intersting, but you can get so much more mileage out of the Vita. Not even comparable.
It has an excellent design, a beautiful screen, it is a shame that the developers are not taking advantage of the input that draws the most attention in this console: the crank, very few games use it, it is a shame, I hope that in this next one season, games can be downloaded that make the most of this input

I spent 90$ on a ps Vita yesterday and I'm regretting because this playdate looks much better
