I ended up taking out the rear most two 6mm bolts in the bottom of the bed. Then screwed a 60mm long hex head 6mm bolt in from the bottom, creating a stud, used a fender washer on top with a spacer to the bottom of the box. Drilled holes in the box and used wing nuts inside. That combined with the straps, ZERO movement. Awesome work Terry!
As small as this may seem to ya sir this helped me out tremendously. Takes a lot of reaearch and trial and error to finally get a solid storage setup for sxs sometimes and this is the best setup ive seen for the money, even looks good! Fits perfect thank you!
I put the same Tractor supply box on my Fox Live Valve. Works great. The only difference that I did on my install, I used pop rivets to attach the stainless D rings and also used the tension bite clips for easy removal instead of the snap lock clips. All were purchased from Amazon. Good video!

Nice idea. I’m using a very similar concept with the canvas straps and plastic buckles to secure my Honda soft bag on top of my subwoofer enclosure. It’s on my list to share as well here soon.

Terry I have another item for your emergency kit our rims are 15 in so get a bike tube to use as a bead sealer if tire comes off of rim use lots of slickem
Lacquer thinner. I'm guessing that there is some sort of mold release on these boxes. I could not get anything to stick before using the thinner to clean it. Did it multiple times where the weatherstripping is. Seems fine now.
I just did this and followed your concept. It works very well. My question is how much does your box still move around once it is strapped. I would like to find a way to "fix" it in place as mine floats around a bit
It does move a little. I don't see that as an issue but it was suggested that one could use turnbuckles instead of the nylon straps to stop the movement.

I think you'll like this box much better than the Honda bag. Definitely holds more. The HF D rings do not come with hardware. I used 1/4 x 1 stainless button heads with nylock nuts to attach them to the box.
Thanks. The tires are 32x10-14 Roxillas. The Wheels that were on it in the video ree Raeline Kranks. I had them powdercoated gold. I have different wheels on it now.
Thanks for the video! I'm putting my box together now and am having trouble mounting the hold downs to the top of the box because of the double wall. Only way i can see is to remove material to access the bolts but i am worried it will weaken box? did you do that ?

@@steveandann456 Sorry! I should have made that clear in the video. Suggest a small hole saw on the backside so the access hole would be round. That would help maintain the structural integrity. BTW...I have been planning to do a new box video as I've updated mine a bit recently. Hope to shoot that footage in the next week. I'll post it ASAP.

2:00 minutes into the video you can see the D ring on the side of the box. Strap to the factory D ring in the bed. Also I linked to the new straps I'm using now in the show notes. The cam lock traps are much easier to get tight especially in the close quarters on the sides.
Hey Terry, do the nylon straps stay tight? I put turnbuckles on however I ride really bumpy, Rocky stuff and I almost lost my box due to the turnbuckles rattling loose!
Hey Ragan. The cam lock straps have been super solid. I'm using them on a 52 quart cooler I have on an atv rack in my hitch as well. No issues with either loosening up.
Everything is attached with button head stainless machine screws and nylock nuts except the upper brackets on the latched. Those are attached with stainless sheet metal screws since there is no access on the lid.
@@terryhatfieldmin Finally got mine done - only thing different I did was black D rings on the box I found at home depot. And I put the rubber latches on the outside of the D rings because the ends of the box kinda popped up. I did not drill the TSC emblem off or the latch. All in all it came out good. Got mine done a few days ago. Works great. I drilled the holes for the rubber latches a bit to high, but it’s still works.

was also thinking of going the rivet route, any problems with the rivets securing tightly in the box being that its not metal?

@@ace3000000 I just used a Pop rivet gun and kit from Amazon. I had all of the drill bits to fit the holes. It worked perfectly with no gaps!

It will work on any size rim if you can find right size bike tube

Mine does too, i'm going to get some scrap rubber belting and put under it, should take care of it.

The top mounts are attached with stainless sheet metal screws not bolted thru the box like the lowers are.

Keith Grund you can also put a strap around the center of the tire an tighten it up this some times helps to air it up.😃

@@bradlewis89 Hey Brad. I'm pretty sure the screws for the tie downs are 3/4" and they are 1 1/4" for the bases on the rubber latches. All 6-32.
