From our point of view, it is the logical and BEST choice for us to lean MUCH CLOSER to the United States (Ever since the election of our current president BBM we started leaning more towards the U.S and moving further from China) for as long as we wish to maintain our status as a sovereign state and not turn into one of those vassal states that you mentioned in this video.... Coupled with the theft of intellectual property from Canada (Nortel), political interference in Canada’s governments and then the Covid-19 outbreak… well that was the last straw. Canada stopped investing in Russia back in 2004, when Russia seized investments from Canadian firms. Canada never went back. Even at G8 meetings Russia was constantly complaining that Canadian’s were not investing in Russia like the other members of the G7. It’s because once burned Canadian’s don’t forget. The same is now true for China. Canada has had enough, and they will ignore China for a long long time (even if the communists are kicked out). The problem really boils down to the Chinese. They will only do things that benefit them. Whether it be selling substandard military equipment to other nations, or building roads and railroads that either break down or they can’t possibly make money. This leaves those it deals with with unsustainable debt, and the loss of their resources to China. There is only so long before everyone turns on China for this selfish behaviour. I am an engineer working in research and I had many collabs with Turkish engineers. They were without exception, always some of the smartest, nicest and politest people I ever had the pleasure of working together. I have nothing but good to say about them. If the Turkish state manages to get rid of the aspects of religious medieval ideology that still plagues them, and fully focuses the whole country on educating everyone on secular and scientific thinking, they will become an unstoppable force, I have no doubt. Just to clarify, the Manchus signed treaties with the Russian Romanov dynasty/empire exclusively in the written Manchu, Mongol, Russian, and Latin languages. The Chinese language translations and copies were not made until the late 1800's when the Qing dynasty was beginning to collapse. So, Manchuria has never been "Chinese" until it got colonised by Chinese settlers in the 1920's and the average sedentary rice farmer back then had no idea that this was happening. Besides, there was no "China" at the time, just the Manchu Qing dyansty.
Basically, Manchuria was ruling China at the time, not t'other way about.
The Chinese still bristle at the founding of the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo in the 1930's, with Qing Emperor Pu Yi as figurehead. China aims to erase all remnants of Manchu regional history and culture. I even remember in the 1970's, the Chinese government objecting to the term "Manchurian Tiger", in reference to the subgroup of Siberian Tigers inhabiting that region. They instead insisted everyone use the term, "North China Tiger."

As awful as Erdogan is, he's quite benign in comparison to the likes of Xi and Putin. Sometimes we have to make strange bedfellows in order to make the better of a bad situation. These things are far more nuanced, complicated, and have implications that go well beyond the realm of black and white, right and wrong, good and evil.

Actually, it is the flag of Yemen, not of the German Empire... Not really sure why they decided to show this specific flag in the club of Western countries. I guess it is actually a double mistake: first taking the flag of the German Empire instead of German Federal Republic, then they inverted the bands.
