- Behind the Scenes @AmericanAir video series
Our employees answer customer questions in this in-depth and genuine view of our airline.
Ice, frost, sleet and snow can have a drastic effect on the lift of an aircraft. Even in a mild winter, our De-Icing crews at many stations like Chicago are busy through the end of April, tackling this challenge with state-of-the-art technology and processes to ensure the safety of our customers.
Let us know if there's a question or topic you'd like us to cover next.
Nice video Gene good luck this season with the vestergarrads we gave you!!!
i can tell the tower manager and the deicer guy were hired into the same class in 1989 but one kept it real and does spray and the other is a tower manager and there is def tension between the two and now they're in a documentary together.
Wtf?Im at AA and it doesn’t get that serious unless they have issues outside of work. There are people who worked in the tower and now they’re a tech or ramp agent.I don’t know what you mean by keeping it real.Everyman chooses his own path and depending on the season, the guys on the ground make far more than the tower people.
I was a deicer for 2 years at Aeromag 2000 in canada and overall this was a good explanation I was a deicing tech my first year (the guy spraying and driving the trucks) and my second year promoted to operations lead aka (supervisor and the person the pilots talk to my callsign was "iceman") . its a tough job but very fun and a different way to see and work at the airport
Rethinker167 what us toughest part of job,i just got hired and looking for tips
Rethinker167 I’m with aeromag nj
lmao stfu deicing is not a tough job it's the easiest one at the airport after maybe perimeter security guard. at bases where ac didn't outsource, deicing lines always went most senior because they know it's sit in your cab all day, nap, and move some joysticks and pedals. lol "tough job" maybe for a quebecker that's difficult.
I’m with IDS in Winnipeg. Definitely the most amazing job I’ve had.
Great Video American Airlines! Keep Up with the Behind the Scenes @AmericanAir! :)

Learned a lot! 👨🏫📚
AAwesome Video! Thanks AA, you know why we fly!
Did anyone else recognize O'Hare in the first two seconds?
2:55 the guy talking reminds me of some dude I've only seen in movies
Good job guys. Thumbs up ;)
Great video guys!
I recognized the incredibly long jetway
PSA! Never spray from behind the flaps into the flaps. Always leading edge back. 2023 rules not 2012
This information is for the Sprayer....
Recommendations for De-icing/Anti-icing Aeroplanes on the Ground
Edition 29 - July 2014
3.9.1.6.1
Wings, horizontal stabilizer, and elevators
Spray from the leading edge to the trailing edge. Do not spray from the rear. Start at the highest point of
the surfaces and work to the lowest parts, i.e. on most aeroplanes start at the wing tip and work towards
the wing root.
Did u guys see his eyes 👀
During the non-Winter months, what happens to the de-icing center?
They are icing
@@orlovsskibet XD
Who makes these videos and how do you contact American Airlines regarding their media department a.k.a careers in this field?
Twitter
how do people get on the aircraft
Homie eevee the same way you get on a car
Generally the Jetway- before they de-ice
I often wonder could the nozzle of hose not be brought down forward nearer plane? I think it a lot of liquid waisted by holding nozzle So far away from the aeroplane
It gets better coverage as it's sprayed on
did u guys offically get bought today?
Where does the deicing fluid drain to???
Deicing happens in special platform and it is all collected and recycled.
TOP
actualy their is its called southwest airlines
I see you have to be at least 250 Lbs to work for the de-icing team. LOL...
sancochito75 wow. That’s too bad that you feel the need to talk nasty about these men. You don’t have to be attracted to anyone in particular if they have s quality you dislike. That’s your business. But there’s no need to say anything derogatory about anyone’s appearance. Especially at Christmas. I see your post is from one year ago and perhaps you feel differently now. I’ll let you in on a secret. When people look at profiles on dating sites, they see the preferences of anyone who has a profile. Most folks just don’t care for anyone with a profile with any negatives. I you don’t have to talk to anyone whose pictures you don’t like. I’m sure you understand. Have a great holiday!
Maybe they use sugar instead of propylene glycol hahaha

What happens in summer? Do these guys lose their jobs?
its a seasonal position, its just a second job to make a little extra money during the winter
I don't know for a fact, but maybe these guys move from one hemisphere to another
You don't lose your job. You just take a break. That's how seasonal jobs work. You are still employed by the company while being on break.
american airlines bigger joke then spirit in the aviation world lol
