    Wow. Cutting above your head, no safety gear, no chaps or steel toed boots, and working with a dull chain. Impressive.

    It's throwing dust instead of chips, needed a sharpening of the chain. I have one of these, and it's a very good saw. Easiest starting saw I've ever owned, and I'm old, had many.

    I have the 251c and 271 farm boss. Every time I use it I give it 3 passes with the Stihl 2 in 1 chain sharpener. I do have to say I prefer using the 251c as it is lighter and feels equivalent in power.

    I’ve got this saw and it does everything I want it to do , and that comes from someone who has been bucking wood from about 1975.

      I just bought the MS251CBE but havent used it yet and hsrdly a video on youtube on it. Do u use the RM Yellow chain on yours because i hesr it cuts so much better thsn the one that comes on it , the green chain. Let me know if your still using it and how you like it

      @@rejectsgaming948 I still use the green chain. I really see no need for the more aggressive cut. It does everything I want.

    I have a 251 - I do wish I got a bigger saw, but - I just use the yellow chain for big trees, and it works no problem. Also notch larger trees. You’ll get through them waaaaaay faster.

    That poor saw
    Omg
    Please use pole saw !
    Don’t use that saw up high
    Sharpen the saw chain
    You are cutting the wedge on the wrong side of the tree
    You have some branch on the other side
    Cut your wedge on that side with over hanging limb
    The extra weight on that side would make the tree fall on the wedge side
    When you finally do a straight cut from the other side
    Be safe

    the chainsaw is very good, but you have to sharpen the chain ..when the sawdust throws out like spaghetti then it is fine,,!!

    So whats up with everyone being a professional logger in the comment section. These guys got the job done, with all fingers in tact. Sure the saw is not meant for thick trees like that, sure the chips looked like dust so a sharpening is needed, sure its not recommended to climb and cut limbs with a rear handled chainsaw, sure the cut too far into the tree on the undercut of his notch. We could go on for a while before making their job perfectly safe and professionally done, but hey. They got the job done well done.

    • @thetoolsman49
      @thetoolsman49  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks. Lol. This was a home owner saw and tree job. Not a tree company, no professionals on the property. Just a tree that needed to come down. A home owner bought a saw and his grandson cut it down. Lol

      @@thetoolsman49 Uhm maybe because its EXTREMELY FUCKIN DANGEROUS. If you want to fell a tree that size sure go ahead but dont get in the tree with a ladder, without being tied in,.and sawing overhead. They may have been okay this time but keep that up and someones going to die.

  • @johnclarke6647

    A 251 is a good saw but not for cutting up 24” logs. I would have grabbed my ms 660 to cut up that piece of oak. I use my 251 on stuff smaller than about 16 inches in diameter and grab a bigger saw for stuff bigger than that. I always like the bar to be longer than the stuff I am cutting. Do you hear how that 251 is lugging in a lot of your cuts? That will wear out a saw, fast.

    • @thetoolsman49
      @thetoolsman49  4 роки тому

      I agree the 251 is under powered. It is a homeowners saw and he only had 2 trees. It will most likely never be used again. Lol

    • @Hockeymike16
      @Hockeymike16 4 роки тому +4

      The Toolsman it’s not underpowered at all. That’s like saying a Prius is under powered because it can’t tow a 30,000 lb trailer. It’s not meant for that. I’ve had an ms 251 for 3 years and it’s never been “under powered” when I use it for what it’s meant for. Get a bigger saw and sharpen the blade!!!

    • @johnclarke6647
      @johnclarke6647 4 роки тому

      Michael Holding I just don’t depend on batter powered stuff because the battery always seem to crap out on me when I need it. I have lots of saws, mostly Stihl or Stihl copies. I have a 251 but seldom use it. The wood I cut is either to small or to big for the 251. For medium size stuff I other grab my ms ;-360 or 440. To me the 251 is only a bigger version of my ms-241 or 181 or my husky 135. It is also a bitch to start and at age 75 that is not a plus for it.

    The MS 251 CBE is not designed for in tree use! Its too heavy & has a rear handle. Using it in this manner is very dangerous, It would have been safer renting a Stihl pole saw with an extension.

    Ya, that chain needs a rub of the file, just hard to judge a saw without sharp teeth, you know by looking at the shavings on the ground, if it’s just dust then no good. A 251 with sharp chain is a wood eater. Apologies if you know this already and thanks for video.

      You know about the stihl 2 in 1 or pfered 2 in 1?? Amazon sells them, the preferred one is blue and cheaper than stihl version but the exact same. They make them for stihl. Those file the depth gauge and sharpens tool in single pass. Easy to do. Each time you gas up machine, run few passes on them and they are always perfect ready to rip!
