I love the minimal use of light, puts more emphasis on the piano as well as Jon. While I’ve never heard of this song you can definitely hear the optimism in the notes...despite what we are going through we can overcome.

It's like angelic notes resonating through a distant cloudland, yet so close and so warm... Listening, I realised how much I missed music like this, pure, clean, strong and genuine. A singing call to our most primitive dreamworlds.

  • @unwriten44

This song reminds me of all the good in my life because it uses intentional pauses to build to the next note and add emotion much like the Lord does. We may be in an intentional pause right now or in the middle of a chord but wherever we are in life He is with us as we wait for the next emotional note. But work is involved, the hammer must hit the string and the finger must touch the key. The work may hurt like the hammer or may be a gentle guide like a finger on the key but He is the musician and our song will be perfect if we trust Him.

Watching this from Nova Scotia Canada, after a horrible mass shooting last week. We are all feeling a little broken and fragile right now and not being able to gather together to grieve and support each other just makes things a little more bleak. This song brings tears, but also the reminder of how these roads lead us to where we need to be. And as a side note, your rendition of Fight Song/Amazing Grace has been circulating here as well. We are ‘New Scotland’ with strong ties to our Scottish roots. Thank you for being a beacon in a dark time.

This is what I needed today. Music is so healing. My mother sold our piano to make ends meet when I was 4 years old. At the time she didn't know how much I wanted to learn to play. I never got lessons or have had the chance to own another in all these years. I taught myself to read some music in high school but mostly learned a few songs by ear. Anytime there is a piano I have to sit and play a few chords with a melody I remember. It's like coming home but at the same time losing yourself in another world. There is just something about the piano that makes my soul warm and healed.

I’ll admit that has a long time fan of Jon Schmidt, I was ready to hear this completely disassembled (in a GOOD way) and rebuilt like his incredible arrangement of, “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” but nope...Jon completely stripped it down naked instead and let each note sing for itself. Once again, I’m blown away.

How amazing is it that something you need comes along right when you need it? I’ve been struggling for a while. Everything with this virus, my college courses getting moved online, being an essential worker-working on the front lines to care for the people who are sick, being told that a professor, who I was close to when I was obtaining my bachelors degree in music, was just placed in hospice care because of a quickly degenerative brain disease. It’s been a very tough couple of months. Thank you Jon for posting something so wonderful as a reminder that as hard as things can be, there is a reason for it and something good will come from it. I definitely needed this message today.

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
That every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like Northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
    Yes, He did
I think about the years I spent just passin' through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
    You've been there, you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like Northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
    Yeah
And now I'm just a-rollin' home
    Into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

There's just something about the sound of a piano being played with so much emotion. It's truly amazing!! This is truly beautiful and expresses so much emotion from you but also envokes so much emotion in the listener as well. I love how you have made each verse different based upon what the words say. It really and truly reflects the meaning of the song without words. Someone who didn't know the words would get the idea and feeling of the song without knowing what it was supposed to be about just through the feeling you put into it. It somehow makes you feel melancholy, reflective, but also hopeful all at once. You are truly amazing!! I hope to become half the musician and pianist you are one day!! Thank you for sharing!! I really look up to you. You're an inspiration!

It so simple, a piano and a dark room but it’s perfect. Thank you for giving this gift to us in the difficult times we are in.

Absolutely brought me to tears. This was supposed to be our first dance song, but due to the pandemic, we had a shortened wedding and had to skip on a lot of details. I can’t wait to dance to this song at a reception in the future. Love, love, love this rendition. It’s beautiful beyond words 💕

    Dear Jon & Team.
When I saw you playing in this Video... I felt somehow reminded of a Vision I once had for a friend and Mentor of mine... he taught me how to worship. With dedication. I am so sad... I and many other members of my church have hurt him very badly... I am so sorry Jochen... I know he carries a very Big annointing as a Pianist... even when he had a severe injury on his shoulder... he kept discipline with himself... his mind is Quiet and the BEAUTY of God and Heaven is displayed... never ever have I heard a Single assault coming out of his mouth... but still .... please. please. PLEASE I beg you in the mighty Name of Jesus. Please give one Piano to this guy. He has the potential to conquer sin and darkness with his praises....
The PRESENCE follows him... wherever je goes... we need your Help... I, myself have persecuted HIM and his wife... I feel ashamed and want to bow down... because I know... the Lord is living inside every believer.... even the barrabasses - someday the will see the treasures of Heaven...
    Christmas is about Jesus Birth
..... but we need his holy fire burning in our hearts... Forever...
I had to laugh when I heard the answering machine .... I also played the Bach ... with the Viola.... but I love my violin.... 😍
It Took me more than 20 years to realize it was really the calling of the Lord to worship.... I fell into cycles of rejection when I was young... felt empty and void... but the Lord Made his little light shine again... I am so happy if Jochen Tittelmaier could get one of the C7.... my mother is Pianist and she told me about this Piano years ago....
Now I am facing death & resurrection... I am a mother of two little Boys (1,5y and 4y) the little one just cant take his eyes off of you playing in Brazil.... tommorow our local violinmaker is showing us how he's making out of a Violin a cello for Samuel (😆 He is only 80cm big... hahaha) if I can find a email Adress online I will send you a picture of my little blond virtuoso... He is an angel sent from Heaven ❣
The Doctors told me a month ago I cannot live ...because the breast cancer spread to the bones and lymphatic System... even at my heart 3 tumours have grown... but I am standing on GODS PROMISE.. I know I will live and not die... because I am like a tree rooted at the living waters... refreshed by the sunshine of the Almighty... even when I Walked through the shadows of death & lies of the enemies... I know I am delivered... even till death
    ... like hiob.
Healing Power flows through your anointed playing... we ate from a different Kind of bread.
Nobody is special. Only one is special. JESUS.

I play bass guitar but I think the piano is my favorite instrument to listen to. Such a wide range of frequencies available from 1 instrument. From the low, almost thunderous, emotive notes, to the high, piercing notes. Just so many sounds & “feels” you can get from it.

After listening to this for over an hour on repeat I have noticed my favorite parts. 00:02:35 into 00:02:42. I unfortunately do not have musical vocabulary to describe what I am hearing, but the movement here is amazing. I feel as if these moments have a specific characteristic to them that I have noticed in other pieces and would make me be able to do a "Name that Pianist" accurately.
