hi! I love your videos! So helpful. I am starting my first clinical rotation this semester and SO nervous. Do you have any recommendations on resources? or a amazon list!?

Hi I am a new np. I recently started viewing your videos and really like them. Just learning a lot. What kind of OCP you would start on a teen for irregular bleeding.
Thank you so much! That's awesome. I would investigate the possible causes first (Up-toDate has a great algorithm), although HPA axis immaturity is the main culprit for irregular menses in the first 1-2 years after menarche. If other causes are excluded, you can really start with any of them-- I typically start with a lower dose progesterone and estrogen, or mid range, and then see how they tolerate it. Contraceptive Technology (book) breaks down the different types super well!
From a primary care standpoint it depends on the abnormality. Fibroids, masses, polycystic ovaries referring to gynecological services would be the appropriate next step. I recommend consulting your favorite medical resource like Up-to-Date and Epocrates and/or your supervisor for further guidance! Each case is unique. If you’re needing mentorship support we’re expanding our offerings soon, definitely join the waitlist at realworldnp.com/mentoring.

If the ultrasound comes back normal, but DUB continues what’s the next step??
