Good video. I have one of the older Coronado SM40 filters paired with a BF10 that I use on my Stellarvue SV85S refractor. It allows me to swap back and forth between H-Alpha and white light.

I missed out on one of these a couple of years ago at a star party as some guy there said he were going to buy it but never in the end, it only went for £400 to so dirt cheap. I do have a couple of PST's though an Ha doublestack & the discontinued CaK PST both of which have performed reasonably well just imaging can be tricky with the lack of inward focus. I also have the baby Lunt 35 which doesn't do a bad job either but I do remember looking at the sun with a Lunt 102 which made mine look like toys lol

Great video, thanks! Was wondering what mount you're using to track the sun? Is it a Celestron 4SE or similar? Just getting started so seeing what other people are using. Thanks!

Yes it’s a 4/5 SE mount. It’s solid for this. I also use an SLT mount which are more easily found and they work well too.

Great video. I learned a lot and I subscribed. I have the 70mm Coronado Solar Max lll. I love to use ASI Studio too. Thanks

I’m sure you can see a lot more in the 70 than my little 40, but it sure is fun isn’t it? The sun is fascinating!

    Can this be double stacked?

This seems to be a front-mounted etalon which must be very expensive at 80 mm or above. Surely in would be much cheaper to use a rear-mounted etalon like the Daystar Quark, with comparable performance.

51mm is 2 inches and has 60% more light gathering power than 40mm. pi x radius squared. I use an 18mm Baader Orthoscopic eyepiece for viewing at 20x to center the Sun in my 50mm then switch to 11mm TeleVue Plossl at 32x, nice closeup view.

Hi, there is something .... you said that a lager BF make the views brighter...I don't think that is correct... with a lager BF you will get more space around the sun. Talking about "brighter"... I also think that when your solar telescope is too bright, the fews would be uncomfortable and too washed out. Or am I wrong...? Thanks for the tip! Miertje. By the way... nice image with your scope with nice dark background!! 👍
