Your correct! You do as you see fit. I admire the Stanley perc. I just discovered imusa 6 demi. Cup stove top and it makes wonderful Bavarian licorice flat blacks. I do wish I had seen the Stanley first! So you got a decent percolator I think. Cheers! Enjoy in good health, thank you Sir!
Hi, I’m in the UK and have never experienced a Percolated cup of coffee… I have an Italian Mocha pot and a small espresso machine although I can’t drink black coffee as I find it either too bitter or slightly sour… may I ask what grind size do you buy for Percolated coffee? is it a coarse grind or fine ..? Also does percolating the coffee take away the bitterness? Thanks and great video 👍🏻🇺🇸🇬🇧
A coarser grind is usually better since a fine grind will easily fall through the holes in the basket. As for the bitterness, that is usually caused by using too hot of water. For me, I turn the heat down once it starts to perk to make sure there is not a rolling boil of super hot water going over the grounds. There is a trick to it, but I find it to be a great way to make coffee when camping. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Thanks for making this video! Thanks for the questions also. I percolate coffee daily I have found the keys are: good water, good coffee and LOW temp during the entire perc. I add a little more coffee, use a paper filter and perc for 5 min. If I am car camping like you are this trip, I take a snow peak percolator. Like you, I have several pots. I have the stanley. Don’t like it as much
It was disappointing to hear they have a plastic knob on top… Do you think it’s still worth purchasing it? It seems like the most companies, however, are going to plastic…
I would rather it had a glass top, but the plastic works fine and I believe it’s worth it if you are looking for a more compact percolator. I am trying to see if any of the glass tops from other percolators will work with it. I will post an update if I find a replacement that works. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Normally about 10 minutes depend on what beans I am using. Out of interest I normally just put the grounds in the basket, does it make a difference using a paper filter?
I usually use off the shelf Folgers Brand Coffee so it is not a coarse grind. I find the filter helps with the finer coffee dust that usually ends up in the bottoms of the percolator. If I am grinding my own beans and can make a coarser grind, I don’t use the filter. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Nice set up .. I'm not sure I've ever had Percolated coffee. Just pour over and the instant stuff.
Thanks for the video brother
I go 10 mins as that’s where my grandma would stop hers and it was always the best coffee I’ve ever drank.
nice one there
You’re right, nothing better! 10 minutes as I like it strong but can use less coffee.
