Brian Molko on the song:
“A lot of these songs were written during periods of insomnia and Sad White Reggae is one of them. It’s about three o'clock in the morning. Can’t sleep. And for some reason, I decided I was going to work out how to play Roxanne by the Police, and I couldn’t and I ended up writing this song instead. And because I was trying to copy the Police I called it, Sad White Reggae because that’s essentially what the first two Police albums are. It’s just Sad White Reggae, so it’s a little in-joke for me, a private joke, which kind of makes its way onto the album. That’s my song for Scotland. I think Dundee is going to give me the key to the city when this record comes out. I managed to get Jane Birkin, Lama Yeshe, and my mum into the same song and Dundee.”
I am glad it has become one of the secret faves of the album. Fabulous song top to bottom.

No song on the album shows Molko's trademark vulnerability and melancholy like this song. It's beautiful. Not only the lyrics but the music, how he sang it with such intent. I don't like choosing a favorite this early "listening" but this is a great Placebo song. 🎶 💜 🌿
Some songs take more then few listens to be your fav . Just keep listening
I find myself drawn to this one for repeated listens..Love the Samye Ling Lama Yeshe bit..evokes a whole other level to the song.

I didn’t know that Brian is vulnerable. My guess has always been that he is sovereign and resilient. In my opinion, his profound and critical lyrics in some songs are meant as a hint to the listener and not as a personal statement that he suffers.
That lyric “and every river flows, back to Dundee” hits really hard💔😭we all have our destination🙏
When we needed Placebo the most, we got an album. I love the album, Fix Yourself has quickly found a spot in my favorites
There is something scary with this album. There is something that doesn't feel right. Each and every song I listened to felt so beautiful. So amazing. This doesn't make sense. It has to take time to like some songs. I shouldn't fall in love with each and every one of them the second I hear the first few notes, tones. I think they found where my soul really is. It is not an algoritm to good songs. I think they broke into my soul.

@@BalboaBaggins they changed a lot their approach with this album. I think they swifted from their crazy, energetic, psychedelic style to a more British down to earth mixture of modern rock-punk-electronic. I can't say i am really pleased with the new work but it seems as an ok album so far.

This guys have made one of their best records without doubt. Not many veteran bands from the nineties can reach that achievement at this time of their careers. But I think this is mainly because Placebo never tries to be anything but themselves, and authenticity is something that ends up making great art. Total inspiration.
If that counts as a nineties band, I'd say Metric just did that too. But yeah, not many...
