Olympic Semi Rematch | Garozzo v Safin | Men's Foil Fencing | 2017 European Championships FINAL

FINAL bout of the 2017 Tbilisi Fencing European Championships Men's Foil Individual event between Daniele Garozzo of Italy and Timur Safin of Russia.
Garozzo was the reigning Olympic Champion and Safin was the reigning Olympic Bronze Medalist. Garozzo had defeated Safin in the semifinal at the Rio Olympics and this was their first rematch since then. Before Rio, Safin had defeated Garozzo at the 2012 Moscow Junior Fencing World Championships Final, then Garozzo would defeat Safin at the 2014 St Petersburg Grand Prix.
After this bout, Garozzo and Safin would fence only one more time - at the 2019 Bonn World Cup - where Garozzo would win 15-10. Garozzo announced his retirement from international competition in April 2024.
