Thanks Vinnie. Very interesting video. I think it was outside a pub called the Brown Bear, in Leman Street, that the fight between Ronnie Kray and George Cornell took place.
Good job/video 👏👏 unlike many other members of the "firm". you dont often hear much about Ian Barrie. He obviously kept a low profile in his later years, and good for him at that. Thanks
@@ronunculous The outside of the pub beyond where the gents is would be the beer garden you see at the end of the video, he would have had to enter through those gates in the fence to the right in the 1966 picture.
This was brilliant. I never knew about the straightener. Fascinating subtext. Ronnie couldn’t win with his fists so resorted to using a gun!! I could almost feel the ghost of GC standing behind you. God bless this deceased man and his family too. 🙏❤️.x
I used to walk past that everyday when I lived behind the Genesis Cinema on the Mile End Road back when I was a student. Drank in there plenty of times. We should colloboate sometime Vinny?

Not been in the Beggar for years since i last worked that way in London. packed, one Friday night and definatley still a locals pub, White working class. Unlike Whitechapel which is mainly asian now but decent beer garden and one still had to be on ones toes still an edgy feel that it might kick off at any moment. Think the magar was maybe Polish, definately eastern european which surprised me. Yeah decent boozer with a formidable history.
I'm sure that road, the A107 next to the pub wasn't there at 2:41 in the 1960's if you look at old photos. ... There wasn't a gap between it - and the White Hart ? ... I don't know why, as the road may have taken a slightly different route back then.
Cambridge Heath Road has been widened, those properties to the right were demolished to make space for a wider road. There was a road alongside the White Hart, but much narrower.
I went to the Blind Beggar whilst on a trip to London with my uncle a few weeks ago. It was interesting to stand/ sit at the spot where the shooting took place although I was disappointed as I didn't see the bullet holes in the wall as pictured in a Google review of the pub.
Please check your info, George wasnt stood, he was seated at rhe time. Also you're wrong saying Ronnie marched through the doors you pointed at. He came through what is now the Gents Toilet. Please get the facts right.
the Blind Beggar pub is fabulous and so is the new building we like both

NHS! a WOKE JOKE!
Great concept with the topic of this series, very enjoyable
I'm surprised the Blind Beggar isn't a Listed Building.
Didn’t know they had a straighter before the shooting, good show vin
Great video Vin,keep them coming👍🏻
Problem is the builds today are never meant to last.
Apparently Kray entered through the door of the gents toilets, back then it lead to a back alleyway but was later refurbed to a gents toilets
You might be right but I've heard this one told in a few ways.
@@vinniesullivan7977 my research indicates that access was gained via the side alley through what is now the gents
@@ronunculous I think you're right but stories differ

Wonderful old boozer. Revolting modern carbuncles.

Maybe check the ceiling next time?
What kinda person shoots a fellow human being over a council house that's not his. Interesting vid.

I hate modern so called architecture.
I've heard rumors about the fight but not sure it's true as v few villains have mentioned it n ones that did hate the kray twins
*Too much snooker!*
Lots of orbs in this video
Oh dear
