The disrespect on the NBL is insane!
Giannis didn't earn 62 million in the 2016/17 by the way, I think you meant the 2026/27 season
I really hope all the leagues outside of the NBA continue to grow exponentially and make basketball go even more global.
🤞
Euroleague should expand their league market to Asia… Asia has biggest market, Chinese and Filipinos are largest basketball fans
Yes , … but end of the day, tennis is better
Only makes sense. The earth is shaped like a basketball not the other way around
They are ..look at European leagues they are on a upswing the aussy league is ...even the G league is building at a rapid rate alot of bball players to feed these leagues will just keep growing... especially if streaming deals get made
The draw for the NBL in Australia/NZ isn’t just the money but the opportunity for young players to potentially get scouted for the NBA. The Next Stars program has played a significant role in this and it looks like another next star (Alex Sarr) will be a Top 5 pick in the upcoming draft.
probably because the competition isnt too good over there. i mean realistically the best competition outside of the US is the euroleague, but the risk of a talent not looking too good is high. so they choose a professional league that has decent players where a young talent can shine. still better preparation than college, dont get me wrong.
@@Max-me9ol the best competition outside of US is Spanish ACB league. They won EuroLeague the most and prepared many talents for the NBA.
If I was a proffesional player I would like to play in the Euroleague. It has great fans and good competition. Nice video!!
Thanks! Really cool seeing former pro players here, which leagues have you played in, if that’s not a secret? 😊
@@BasketNews_comhe said if he was one 😂
You cannot play in Euroleague automatically, only if your team is qualified to play for the euroleague. Euroleague consists of different top teams in every European country's domestic leagues (ex. liga endesa of spain having representatives like barcelona and real madrid).
@@BasketNews_comhe wasn’t a former pro, he said “if I was”
@@markdanlieabueva3718 Not exactly accurate as most teams in the Euroleague have long term contracts to play there regardless of their position in local leagues and have no need to go through preliminary rounds.
In other words: signing with teams such as Maccabi, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Efes Pilsen, Fener, Olympiacos or Panathiacos practically means you would have a chance to play in the Euroleague.
I don't wonder why the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) is not included, despite being the 2nd oldest league in the world. High-caliber imports are not too keen in getting paid in chump change compared to what they'll get from other leagues.
jeremy lin plays for the new taipei kings with his brother joseph lin in the P. league+ in Taiwan now, he stopped playing in china last year
B League of Japan has a lot of potential with many rich companies willing to invest
Edit: “lot of potential”
I feel that either the CBA is sliding down or others like Japan Taiwan and Auss are catching up rapidly so the allure to play there isnt what it used to be?
This is somewhat reflected in the struggle of China national team who isnt even the best in Asia now
CBA is not sliding down, it just B league, Taiwan league and NBL is now bigger
While the euroleague has the potential to provide the biggest amount of money, it's also the most difficult to not only be a star, but even a solid starter.
Europe in time will more than solidify its position as 2nd best in the World in terms of financilal prospects. Given that Euroleague plans to expand into big markets like Paris and London and offer them a place in the near future, this will be important step. Money and recognition will grow even further. Competitions like Eurocup and BCL raise their levels too and attract interesting prospects. Not to mention that Dubai is still in the talks and a possible spot for this team will increase even more the role of Europe and Euroleague given that inflow of investments will increase even more. Add to that the deepening relationship between NBA and Euroleague, this will further position Eurolegue on the global scale. Plus everyone in time will associate even more Euroleague in US as a very legit competition as we see a successful season can secure you a roster spot. Something which I cant say for any league outside Euroleague. Europe is much further in its overall system than any other place in temrs of marketability, financial prospects and most importantly talent-wise.
Even those Euroleague teams in big markets lose a ton of money. They only survive thanks to massive direct or indirect public subsidies, football money in the case of multisport clubs, or a billionaire patron willing to pour millions a year into it just as a flex.
Really enjoy this channel, congratulations on 100k
I would love a top 100 teams in the world video, including nba teams. It would be cool to see where the best euro teams would stack up
theres 30 nba teams, thats your top 30. best euro team would be around top 30-40 because theres cba, gleague and nbl that also have former nba players. Not to mention that the worst nba team and the best of any league has a big gap.
@@breadtv8146the best Euroleague team is definitely better than CBA or G league. It might even snuck in in front of a couple of NBA teams.
Got the year wrong on Giannis earning $62 M its not 2016/2017
Yeah, was supposed to be 2026-27 🤦
Bryce Cotton is the highest paid player in Australia (NBL) and he's supposedly on just under $700k a year
Great video as always.
I'd love to see the top African league (BAL) in that graph too.
Salary is a crate of grenades per week.
@@Drunken_Masterdud
When Saudi Arabia opens up a league the prices will decimate the other leagues.
I wish you added what bball players in the Middle East could earn
What about BSN in Puerto Rico? If I'm not mistaken a few former NBA players are playing or played there.
Puerto Rico = Beautiful woman, great weather, American territory.
This video makes no sense. How does the highest paid player in euro league make $5mil while their average is $3? And Giannis was never paid anywhere near $60mil in 2016, he signed a 4 year $100mil contract then. Not a credible video
Just looked it up and the euro league average is around 600k, which makes way more sense
Highest paid player in Euroleague is Willy Hernangomez with 4.5 mln a year, this info was published in Israeli magazine.
As for overall approach to the video, it's more important not how much players get, more important is salary cap regulations, taxation and broadcasting deals, - which all directly influence the salaries.
As for Japanese league, for example, it's growth not only explained by endorsement of high-profile sponsors, mostly it's related to interesting broadcasting rights deal...
I would prefer to see in depth analysis, rather that simple chart with mostly no basis to it, as all the info is based on non-disclosed info...
Thx
They talked about net wages, so you don't have to be worried about taxes. Willy probably earns 4,5m in gross, so he isn't the highest paid one.
As for the salary cap, there isn't one in Europe.
What about getting sponsorships are they big anywhere like will Toyota pay a player to do ads or is that not as big over there ...and if it is do they just go for locals
I thought basketball was really big in Turkey and Israel but you didn't mention the salaries in either place.
Tavares and Hezonia salary package will soon be the highest outside NBA…loading ☘️☘️☘️
Saudi Arabia is about to get into the basketball business and pay guys big bucks to play over there
pba is still the best foreign player.😅😅
U guys must stop in Wikipedia while searching for Jeremy Lin to not know he plays in Taiwan now (he has been here for a while) 😅 I think you should be more careful with the fact check. Anw your contents are still top of my list, plz keep up the good work.
Pba where bro
My interest for Nba has pretty much died out, its a show, a platform to biuld a brand for guys moving on to other things later on.
I rather watch a Euroleague game between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos for instance, team ball insane atmosphere on top of that
Football by far is the best sports in the world where 5'6 player can earned 600m per year. And football is 1 sports in the world. Many leagues can offer who 100m to play in just 1 year
Wow those CBA rules are ridiculous - 😮
That davis clip 😂
Does Euroleague pay Teams since euroleague is a tournament for top teams from different countries in europe?
not sure how much, but some of the money from the sponsors or tv contracts euroleague signs must be going back to the teams. now how much tax each team pays depends from the country. and the same goes with the players salaries..
I don't know. I think comparisons would be better if every salary were set in gross terms. Comparing net to gross salaries make NBA look even more far away.
My man Luka Magic
I bet those "part time plumbers" would smoke your arse all day.
We aint got any place to be trash talking any pros, you can only wish to be half as good as them
I agree
I'd play anywhere but Europe would be my top choice.
if you like to work under pressure go to Europe. If not, go anywhere else
If i win, instead of Bucks jersey, can i have Monaco's One?😂
You got it bud, deal 🤝 only if the random generator shows you love haha
@@BasketNews_com if i am lucky 😂🫶
Wouldn’t be surprising if Saudi Arabia or Qatar join the market for big ex-NBA players soon.

Hahaha great Jimmer burn...
Jimmer was the epitome of a cone in defense while playing in Greece
2026-2027 season not 2016

If I could go back 25 years. I would've taken my chances in Japan instead of heading to Brazil to play.
video says japan's league was established just few years ago
@@basedpatriotLT Japan had two leagues before, which then merged and became the B-League in 2016.
47th view 10th like!
Wait for the Saudis bruh
Ridiculous woke owners. Owners of NBA should come together and decide that max contract for a player could be lets say 10 million.
It is way more than enough to still be able to sign all the stars (no other league would offer that, not mentioning10-50 million they would earn from sponsors etc.
Owners hold ALL the cards, yet they kneel down to players. It is a disgrace.
It is worth pointing out China has a far shorter season and Australia in reverse, so players will often go back to Europe or come to Europe. In case of NBL Keanu Pinder (Fuenlabrada) or Cleveland now at Maccabi. So Europe is a hot spot however China in years gone by has enabled players to rejoin the NBA and effectively get two salaries and the NBL has always been open to guys going and get 2-3 months more money in Europe.
This is relevant as European sides are veet resistant to ever releasing players with buyouts, so someone like Brycr Cotton were he to want to go NBA has a far easier pathway playing down under. Having said all this thwse caveats only apply to a small handful of talent in China and Australia but it is the top talent so it is worth nothing.
Equally NBL gave Bogut his last year a far larger salary and stake in Sydney if I recall correctly jusr as a fun fact albeit again a one off case
Japan league is also rising and pays big too… maybe next destination for ballers overseas
Jeremy Lin no longer plays in the CBA. He already made the jump to the Taiwanese league last season
Yeah… he’s now in Taiwan… Tacko Fall is the biggest signing CBA has as of now
What about the League in Puerto Rico?
A lot of former Nba stars there too
I’d kill to be a Real Madrid player. But Japan’s B league doesn’t sound half bad.
As of now nothing beats the Euroleague. they have the best coaches outside of the NBA and it's a very attractive and competitive league to play in.
Yessir 🙌
Best coaches outside of the NBA? Lol Euroleague coaches are miles ahead
@@truthhearer6323 Spo clears all those frauds
But money is in China… next big league in terms of salary is in China… maybe Saudi Arabia will pay big in the terms of salary if they invest too in basketball
Nba coaches ?? beside Spo,Kerr,Malone and Nick Nurse who is there a coach ?
I wish it was easier to watch Euroleague games, and other leagues. Love their style of play.
you can watch easily by making subscription in Euroleague TV. its really not a big price.
for me, as a person who can't watch NBA basketball, the Euroleague is the only basketball.
Espn plus or euroleague tv in the US
NBA, Euroleague, EuroCup, BCL, FIba Europe Cup, ABA Liga, Puerto Rico, NBA G-League, NBL, CBA, B League, KBL, PBA, T1 League it does NOT matter for as long as you play Professionally in a place where it's "safe" and can provide for the needs of your family. That's a BIG WIN-WIN for me. Don't mind what the imbeciles.
I guarantee Baynes isn't the highest paid player here is AUS, i bet it's like Bruce Cotton or Jaylen Adams
Definitely Bryce Cotton. JA & Baynes wouldn’t be too far behind though
I heard Dwight signed because he confused Taiwan and Thailand
Euroleague is atournament not a league

Jeremy Lin plays in Taiwan now not CBA
I would love to see an NBA exhibition similar to the preseason going up against Euro teams but having NBA squads go to Europe and play with Euro rules
That be good... They did a have a Euro league team play a preseason game but was NBA rules
They used to do NBA champs vs Euro League champs until the NBA champs lost 😂
@@BigsmokeATLthey did it three times, so it was not common and then the NBA just stopped.
@@Unqualifiedtake cause nba lost twice
@basketnews you missed a big factor which are benefits. A lot of Euro leagues will pay for your housing, food, phone, rental car, clothes ect equalling hundreds of thousands worth of savings. Taxes also in other counties are different than the US and exchange rates are different.
$100m annual salaries
Seriously, why? So much money that could be spent more intelligently
LOL. This channel is trying hard comparing the nba to the euroleague. Can you show us a contract in the euroleague worth 300 million dollars in 5 years which is the highest in the NBA
The thumbnail is fakenews. CBA pay more than europe. This is a european basketball page not a basketball page.
Why you didn't mentioned the world champions in Brasil's NBB??
You left out The BAL (The Basketball Africa League).
I see potential in Japan. Americans cukturally already have a bit of a love affair with Japan. They also have also already have Toyota on board as a sponsor. If they bring in other major brands like Honda, Nissan and SONY, they can really start challenging the NBA for where top talent will want to play.
Yes it`s got a lot of potential. Fujitsu and softbank ( richer than honda and nissan ) are major sponsors of japan`s basketball league. AEON malls/family mart and 7-eleven also own some teams if I`m not mistaken. Baseball and football leagues in japan earns billions of dollars a year so basketball there needs a lot of catching up.
Most imports in japan nowadays were former MVPs of NBL australia. Former national coaches of australia and new zealand are coaching in japan also.
Japan is now ranked #26 in the world making it the no. 1 team in asia ( excluding australia and new zealand ). Japanese teens are also getting taller and athletic so in about 5 years the japanese national team will probably have 10 players that have an average height of 6`8".
Knowing nothing about basketball outside the NBA (though Maccabi Anthony Parker is my favourite player, weirdly) my impression is that the most fun to watch players come from either Spain or Lithuania, Latvia. Something about the fans, their brand, how hype they get.. pay them.
Forgot about Shane Larkin he nice
you forgot the Philippines
What about the Philippines?
jeremy lin now plays in taiwan.
Japan B. League 🇯🇵🤲🏽🤑🇵🇭
As always Great content. Been watching since the FIBA World Cup ❣❣❣
This one is easy partizaji is paying $1000000 for bench warmers like Vukcevic,Trifunovic and Andjusic
International players are taking up more and more of the NBA money these days. Leagues outside of the states have limitations on how many imports they can bring in. That is creating a tough spot for certain players who dont have a featuring role on an NBA team going forward.
as someone who has a cousin in the NBA on Denver, I am going to tell you that NBA fringe players make more than what you listed....you forget depending on their veteran status and other items, most fringe players are making over $1million to $15 million. The ones not making that are those that play in the nba minor league which is called the G-league...
Still the most pertinent channel to talk about basket in english.
S/o from france
Although the Philippine basketball association or PBA doesnt pay as big as china/japan, former nba players also prefer to play there due to ease of communication & lifestyle adapting. Pay is probably around 30-50k usd/month and the likes of Rondae Hollis, terrence jones, thomas robinson, shabazz muhammad & more have already played
lul
If you think going to college and not being able to handle the academics will hurt your nba chances...the NBL seems like an ideal 1-2 year jump especially if you could be drafted.
taxes they not working the united states
In the next 5 years, Saudi basketball league will out pay the NBA...idk how many American athletes will go, but this will be a test to see who will kneel to mighty money! 😅
Saudis dont give a f*ck about basketball
Europe is not a continent
no matter what anyone says I know the talent pool in the NBA is way better than everywhere that being the Euro league is the most entertaining
seems like the league pushes some old dogs out of the league when they dont like their personalities.
saudi league!

The PIF (Saudi Arabia) should consider starting its own basketball league. Target fringe NBA/NCAA players 1-10Mll. No state tax is another benefit they could offer.
nba is still the ultimate goal but if given the chance to play id go ANYWHERE willing to pay.. lol 400 -500k a year is a win in ANY country, it just depends on financial literacy
How is the Euroleague average salary from 2-4 mil?
Its not the average top players can make 2-4 mil
Not average, top range 🤑
@@BasketNews_com Then why not show the top range salary for NBA?
Question.....for most NBA players, are travel and meals included in the contract, or do the players have to pay for this out of pocket?
It's wild that this channel doesn't have 1mil subs. If you're watching without following change that.
EuroLeague is the best basketball League in the world because you watch basketball not individual talent
200k to be an elite basketball player that has no assurance of how many years of employment is actually very little.
