Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful footage Dave. Guy Clark has been my hero since I first saw him play live in 1990. He was an amazing songwriter and singer.
This was a turning point for me in Guy's career. When I saw him between 1975 and the Dublin Blues tour, he'd always sing a few new songs and nearly the entire Old No 1 album. It was as if he didn't think he'd done anything great after that album, or that the new work was lesser. I didn't get to see him later in life except once about 15 years ago, due to my moving away from Nashville, and he was getting sick and having a bad night, the only weak performance I'd ever witnessed. But I gather he later started to take pride in his other work, play it more, and now I can't begin to count the number of people who cover and revere Dublin Blues, the title song from that album he mostly didn't play while touring to support it. I miss him. I didn't think the albums after this time were as strong as the ones from the 20th century, but they all got lots of listens and he wrote some great songs to the very end. Being back in Nashville, it's good to see him in Nashville while he was still in his prime. Which is a long way of saying, thanks for the video.
I only learned about Guy Clark after he died. I admire him because I grew up in a time that was in sync with him, but spending my earlier years in New Zealand, Guy was not known outside the USA and unknown to me. Listening to comments about him on his death, I found him through UA-cam. He was some songwriter and I hope much of his stuff turns up on UA-cam, so the legend may live on. RIP Guy, we are listening.

But FYI- if you have seen any of Yellowstone, the TV show, he has been involved in several seasons. For starters, look for Live at Gruene Hall (New Braunfels Texas). and look for a clip of him playing "Big River" with The North Mississippi Allstars at Peacemakerfest. Lots of talent on stage that afternoon. you will see Samantha Fish off to the left of the stage. She is an amazing Blues artist as well. Best of Luck on your music Journey! If you ever get to Mississippi, GO TO CLARKSDALE!

Drink with them in the taverns, on the back porches, and in pickin' parties in old barns and ham sheds. You'll find out where a lot songs come from. Not this imitation crap you are hearing today that the radio and Nashville execs would have you believe is "country", but the real stuff. If you are really a Guy Clark fan and love his music and lyrics, then hit the road and you'll find it all across the country. This town (Nashville) has puked up so much crap in the last few years that it's lost it's way. Country music is dying every day someone like Clark dies and it's almost gone because there are very few of them left. Didn't mean to be "hostile", but, son, you just need to get out more!
