I'm looking at buying one of these right now. I've compared it to all the others in the sub-compact SUV category and like it the most. The engineering works with my brain.
Currently have a 4 cyl Macan as a loaner vehicle from the dealership. It's awesome, and has plenty enough power. It feels like a Boxster mixed with an SUV....much different experience than driving a Cayenne.
The PDK is incredibly good... I would buy a Porsche just for the transmission. The four cylinder sounds really good for what it is as well. I love this car
I'm very picky about my cars and want a lot from them - I have two dogs, do a lot of fishing, want some economy, some performance, some utility and a bit of off-road (rough tracks). This has given me all that. It looks great, handles great and doesn't attract too many of those jerks just pushing to race.
I'd say 250hp is plenty unless you're planning on racing or tracking it (and why would you buy an SUV for tracking?) It sounds as if it has a reasonable soundtrack for a 4 pot, Porsche have obviously reworked the Audi engine to suit a Porsche car and they clearly know exactly what they're doing!!
Uh, who expects to lug a lot of people and take turns like a sports car.... macan is powerful enough to take care of your family and when you drive alone to floor it.
Macan, Q7, or Model S ? For not necessarily a daily driver but something spacious, able to drive for hours comfortably, and a good hint of luxury. Around 2015-2017 models
I wouldn’t gripe about the mechanical adjustment for the steering wheel. You obviously haven’t had the chance to maintain older water cooled Porsches like the Boxster and Cayenne like I have and would give up all the options for power accessories and opt for mechanical options like sport suspension and larger wheels.
I like the exterior look of the Macan as well as the interior. However, the manual adjustment of the steering column...ugh. If I buy another SUV, I will definitely consider the Macan. I hardly heard any road noise going into the cabin. Very good review!
I think memory package is a cost option isn't it? The standard S probably has the lever adjustment! I don't have a problem with a lever for the steering wheel, I adjust it when I buy the car and never have to touch or look at it again!!
Torque Junkies and Thanks for the review. The starting price is 72.0000 euro here. With a few options my macan costs 87.000 euro’s. sunroof, metallic 21 inch , stereo , xenon etc. . Realy high taxes here. And than you pay income taxes on the car. It’s terrible. (Netherlands europe) Porsche. Nl
There is a facelift coming this year. Apparently the rear lights will be joined as in the new panamera to create a seamless flow of lights. Also some say the interior will be upgraded to panamera’s design language and some say it won’t. I really hope they do as the existing interior while being super luxurious is just too dated and somewhat boring, especially the infotainment and central console with those buttons! 🤢
you can have the electronic steering wheel adjustment as an add on. It's actually nice that they have it as an option to save people money for those who this feature doesn't matter much to them. I gotta say though. I have the electronic and it is well worth the extra $.
I think it would be enough but then again is 4 cylinders right for a Porsche? It's like putting a V6 into a Bentley or Rolls-Royce. Enough but not representative of the brand is known for IMO.
Enough? you need to qualify that question, for a 4 cylinder that can do 0-60mph in 6 sec, that is very good compared to other 4 cylinder mini suv like a Honda CRV or a RAV 4. A 6 cylinder Macan S will be faster and can tow a small trailer better. For day to day driving just to get you places, 4 cylinder should be enough, heck a RAV 4 should be enough...
We went with a 2016 Macan S for 42k. I am telling you it is worth every bit of that. The power is unbelievable. The cabin is perfection. The sound it makes in Sports mode is heavenly.
Hi I'm basically looking to make a channel similar to yours. Mine is really new still. How do you get access to your cars? Do you know somebody at dealerships or do you just go out and ask?
+BriefCarBreakdown I used to work I. The car business so I have a lot of great connections. Once I started getting a good amount of views I started going to other car companies.
Is the 4 enough? For everyday driving YES. How much HP do we really NEED??? So much tech and extra HP is "marketing" for cash grabs. People buying Porsche SUV's won't EVER take them off-road. Due to cost of the SUV and lack of training. Add they aren't designed for "serious" off-roading any how. Same goes for the more capable Land Rovers. :) My only problem with MOST luxo-SUV's is that the rear window slopes FWD too much making the SUV less than practical cargo carrying wise. The Benz G-Wagons do it right still with a near vertical back door. :) Or MB GLE SUV's... Serious about off-roading? Buy a Jeep Wrangler. Modify to your hearts content.
Albany Fx yes, it is much quicker than it's specs would have you believe. I was very hard pressed to find a practical reason to upgrade to the S model when I drove the base last week. I would probably(?) get the S just for the sound and extra speed, but being 100% honest, it is definitely not a requirement, especially if the aftermarket gets a tune out for the 4cyl engine.
@@Kamukix true..had a '15 S and now a 2020 base CPO warranty til 11/26 and enjoying it as much...the new PCM and 10 inch screen is on par with BMW's iDrive...
Parts bin Porsche. It uses the same engine, transmission, and steering wheel as my MK7 GTI. Makes me feel good about my VW but if I spent all that money on that Porsche, I don't know if I'd be happy about that...
Your GTi has Porsche's PDK tranny!!!??? Oh and I've read that Porsche have reworked the Audi engine quite a lot for this car... I doubt they'd just install it in a Porsche 'as is'!!
Ethan Yeoh agreed! I've driven the Macan base quite a bit, and I also own the mk7 GTi (had 2 of them now!)....the steering wheel isn't even the same SHAPE let alone anywhere near the same. The engine isn't not the same, the PDK in the Macan base even is a lot better than the already excellent DSG in my first GTi. This is clearly a man that hasn't driven (or sat in?) the Macan lol. The GTi does absolutely feel way way above its class would have you believe. Both the manual and DSG are excellent. The base Macan had me really really thinking HARD about whether or not I'd want more. Maybe the S engine, but the 4cyl isn't slow for sure. Great CUV

thanks for testing base model and not the GTS like everyone else

250hp on 2tons car... Try with 2 ppl In the car
It's not a good idea to be flooring it with people in the car.... speed is only fun for the driver.
Your review is very simple and that’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
Try loading it with 4 passengers and their luggage then see how it handles merging, passing, and hill climbing.
lol

this seems to be enough power for me, it sounds amazing, couldn't tell its a 4! However for 2019 they reduced hp to 247/8
Very nice presentation. And you’re goofy funny without being annoying. I’m

I just got mine delivered. It's the S. Love it. Steering wheel is power adjusted. With memory package, everything can be stored on the respective key.
Congrats! Enjoy. I'm thinking of trading my Infiniti QX70 for either a Macan or Velar.

Thanks to your review of the Passat R Line I just bought a urano gray Passat r with LED package and the car is awesome!
Thanks so much for that, glad I can help!
Erick Dominguez can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or you are referring to another video review
Great detailed review, especially on how the handling compares to other car brands. Thanks! subbed.
And if you remap the ecu like i did, you get more power than you need. I have got 310 hp and 100nm extra torque. A lot of fun 🤗
Wow that's awesome!

Rumor has it that they've had some issues with the 4-cylinder engine. Anybody have any evidence of this?

I’m considering trading in my 3series for this. I would like to test drive, but I don’t want it if it drives like an A4 (which was my last vehicle).

Porsche needa to make their own engines
Does the 4 cylinder feel like enough power to pass people on the freeway and enough power climb hills?

Love the macan. However, $48,000 for a compact, 4 cylinder suv is not a great deal.
