Thanks for the great advice jeff! Sorry to put you on the spot like that. Theirs different areas of the island and different prices based on location. I needed a more dailed in price range per month. Got a better plan and out look after watching your video. I'll make sure I keep my bridges unburnt and 6 month lease to start with. lol Khei caught our eye this passed May when we visited. Happy to say we survived the road to hana. haha. Saw Honolulu last year but wasn't the biggest fan of the crowds. Much mahalo again jeff. Keep the videos coming. Aloha!
Great Vid... I lived on Maui, (in Kihei) and moved to Vegas last year because it got a bit on the expensive side compared to the mainland. BUT... As some people will find out, once you have lived on Maui and move off to the mainland, you'll miss it a lot.. Something about the island, sand and ocean that is calling me back. Missing all my friends too... So I'm returning to Kihei soon... I'll pay the price...
That is so funny you say that. I always thought if i couldnt find a job in Hawaii i would try vegas. Total 180° as far as culture and life style, but i do appreciate both
No matter what is said....MAUI IS THE BEST ! I love it there, my favourite place on the earth! You can have all of Europe and ever place else , just let me be on maui! Lucky you
Now in 2019 they can look at about $2200 a month for a 500 sq ft place with one bedroom and one bath. Prices have really skyrocketed. Gas is close to $4.00 a gallon for regular.
We pay about $1100 per week rent for 4 people full kitchen 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms living room lanai....dont need AC because of winds. Timeshare so no other bills
$1700 for housing for a couple, yep small unfurnished ohana (very basic, you are right)... renting in Kihei Maui is expensive ... for family with kids, minimum 2,300 ...
Great video. Thank you. I am moving to Maui. And if I see you I will buy you a cold one. Going to ship car over. I like your idea of the scooter. Going to buy oceanfront condo. Not sure what part of Maui. I also like your advice 6 months before I buy a place. This way I can get the feel of the neighborhood. MAHALO!!!
I love the video. I am considering taking a job for 45k on Maui in Keihei - minus taxes and insurance it will be much less, do you think it will be enough for a decent life for my son and I? How are the schools?
Willow Broaddus there a few good school here mostly there are about 3 good school from 1 to 5 grade in kahului and one junior high school that very good in town and high school Maui high school best
I think living in Maui is no different than living in any highly populated city. Prices are expensive but I lived in SF and Las Vegas (Henderson, NV) where prices are high. I think there is a difference being a local vs visiting.
Is it true that Medical is paid for no matter what job you have in Hawaii? How does it work? Thank you

Been here 4 months. Here is my advice and observation/thoughts: 1. Rent for 6 months. Do not buy straight away. You may change your mind. I bought straight away and regret it. I want to move back and am now stuck in a condo. It will cost a lot of money to reverse this now. 2. Living here is considerably hotter than vacation. It can be miserable. 3. Finding a job was no problem....but took 3 months. Hotels will likely only hire for temp/casual. Do not waste your time applying for PT or FT. 4. Scooters save $ but driving here is especially dangerous. 5. Get used to a very, very, very limited selection of everything. 6. Costco is crowded to the point of almost not being worth it
I want to move to Maui in the coming years, and 'm originally from South Florida, and Hawaii heat has nothing on Florida heat. But I agree with everything you said.
