I hardly make a stop. It doesn't feel natural to me. My casting was self taught. I also do not believe in this 10 o'clock 2 o'clock thing. I double haul. I assume I have my own style. What I did find is on my slow to med action rod, when dry flying, I do stop sometimes. I focus on accuracy and keeping my rod straight. My results are good. I have seen many coaches online giving classes but some also do not stop or 10-2o'clock thing. I do not believe there is a right or wrong way, just as long as you keep your rod in a straight line and your loops are good. My rod also travel from lower in the front to higher at the back. I have seen that Lefty Krek did the same. 3 of my rods are TFO's. What I did see today was if I stop, the wind had more effect on the line. I might be wrong but I had better results when not stopping. I got 3 more days to practice after a 4 year absence from fly Fishing, then I will be on the Tongariro and Tauranga-Taupo. NZ.
What is it that feels natural for you? I am exactly researching that. Where and how does the feel kick in? How do you not stop? Just some Q s for food for thought
@@coolcaster Depends on the length/distance of my cast and the line and rod I am using. Because I double hall, I feel I do not need to make this sudden stop. I take my rod backwards and forwards in an continuous motion ignoring this 10-2o'clock thing. There is a small pause at the front and back depends on the rod seize and line I use. Also the conditions. NZ can be very windy at times. I have different casting styles. Sometimes I cast right over my head. Up high at the back and lower at the front. When I false cast, I just slow down my motion. My double haul does the acceleration. Sorry If I can't make sense. I am not English. If you want to try, forget what the Gurus say and go with your own natural instincts and feeling. Give it time, you will find your natural rhythm and action. I do not believe that there is a right or wrong way. If you focus on the rod travelling in a straight line and good presentation, you are there. Sometimes, I deliberately do bigger loop, specifically when dry flying. There are no rules. EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS.

(Definition from Oxford Languages) 2) Why are you choosing to model fly casting as a double pendulum system which usually results in a chaotic motion? What are your justifications for that?
I don't model flycasting which is 3D and has never been tried to achieve. This model is to demonstrate influence of shocking a system unnecessary with results in exactly chaos. Look at 80 percent of the casting out there on the river....what does it look like to you?
@@coolcaster If you choose a system that produces chaotic motion to model another system without justification. Then, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy to claim how chaotic the modelled system is.
Is it possible to get a link to the surf Skagit video?

You realize Surf Skagit person designed a double pendulum, right?
Autotellic. Not self taught. Here we are self learned.
And? This to demonstrate factors influencing a system.
