We are all heartbroken, especially after a splendid first half. 1 big issue i saw was that Tau suffered from what i call "star player syndrome", where he felt the pressure to make things happen and then also felt like he needs to take the penalty since he is deemed as the main "star" from outside the country given that Lyle Forster is not around. Mokoena had the ball and was ready to take the penalty and Tau decided to take it instead. IF one decides to take a penalty after another player was ready to, one has to make sure they bury it, but Tau failed to do better. After that miss, he felt more pressure to make things happen and make amends for the miss at the expense of playing as part of the collective and that caused him not to pass the ball when he needed to and because of the subsequent misses, the team was demoralized and hence the dip in performance. And honestly, after Zwane sub, i really did think we will not come back because we seem not to have similar player in the bench for him and hence we lost the shape. I hope we do better for the remaining games....Aluta continua!!!
You're spot on! I also saw Teboho Mokoena waiting to take the penalty, I think the kicker was changed three times, I even thought they were trying to confuse Mali's goalkeeper, but wow!! I agree on Zwane as well, that sub was a reactive and emotional sub. What did you think about Sithole's performance though? It's over indeed, we have Namibia and Tunisia to overcome🇿🇦 let's gooo!!
