    Ha! It took me about 59 tries but I got it. The key to this is to 1. Have patience, but 2. To NOT TAKE YOUR TIME lol that will only cause the thread to build up on the fabric and eventually your needle will get stuck in the pile up or break. You have to slam on the foot peddle and allow it to go as fast as possible then BOOM... A buttonhole. Thanks for this awesome video❤️

    I've watched dozens of videos, checked the manual, and asked an online group of people and no one could help me. THIS video helped. My old singer was a little stuck and I tried testing it so many times without lifting the lever back up to reset the machine. Resetting and giving it a little nudge did the trick. Thank you for explaining that!!!!

      Yes! Also make sure your bobbin is full. This stitch uses a lot of thread, and I didn’t realize it until I ended up with one button hole only half way done, which meant I had to remove all the stitches and start all over. 😩

    For anyone whose machine is just making balls of thread in one place, pushing that little lever back will get you on track.

    I found that buttonhole foot so intimidating until I watched this video. Heck I forgot I had 4 dials! (Still a new user) I don’t use the manual. I’m a visual learner so a clear video is brilliant. This is the first buttonhole one I came across and it’s brilliant. Will give a like and a comment so it continues to be deservedly at the top! Thank you!

    even the official singer buttonhole tutorial did not mention that you had to push the buttonhole lever BACK as well as down, nor did it mention that you had to pull the lever down all the way, nor did it mention to put it on the buttonhole setting on the wheel or what width to put it at. i kept trying to make it work but, until i watched your video where i found that I didn't push the lever back, it didn't work. thank you so much!

    • @danatran6225
      @danatran6225 3 роки тому +1

      @@dannim6269 I had the same issue, then I noticed in the manual that the "length" was supposed to be somewhere BETWEEN 0 and 1 (I had it at 0) and moved it to halfway between 0 and 1. But I also figured out that I needed to pull the lever farther down before pushing it back - it sticks at a point not quite all the way down to the buttonhole foot - so I'm not sure which adjustment made it work for me.

    Sometimes at the end of step 4 I hit the reverse button and go back to the top for a thicker button hole on the right side. It's easier than adjusting the button on the right side of the machine. I will try adjusting the tension to 3. That would be easier then either of the options I've tried!

    This buttonholer NEVER makes the holes big enough for the buttons.

I imagine a knife of some sort would work, but then don't you have to worry about cutting the thread of the outline you've just constructed and fraying of the fabric which has been cut? Some of us are sewers newer than your machine!
