Can you answer a question for me. My hand naturally feels comfortable with thumb on 6 and 5th string and all my other fingers on 4 3 2 1. So my pinky is on 1st. My thumb does not naturally want to hit the 4th string. I should mention I am brand new at quitar as in jan 2024. I have great ability and coordination. I am strictly interested in learning finger picking and a little strumming of course. Do I leave my fingers as they naturally feel good or do I train to use thumb on all 3 bass and no pinky. Thanks cheers
Most people don't use their pinky to fingerpick. With practice you'll be able to train your thumb to hit all the possible bass notes -- the 4th, 5th, and 6th strings.
