Hi there, I see this innocent festival day has been turned into a negative inference and the destruction of Malay cuture. Quote "Murad blamed the National Department of Culture and Arts as well as Malay groups in Penang for failing to intervene, adding that they had allowed "memorycide" and "ethnocide" to take place". Here is my take on Festivals in general, whether it be a cutural festival, rock/pop/classical music festival, camping festival or a boat festival. The general public have a choice, choice to take part or have the right to enjoy doing something else. It is not like securing a National ID card, ie compulsory. For me, Penang is still a very peaceful place to visit. The word "memorycide" and "ethnocide" are emotive in nature and it does not reflect a fair thoughful debate or critism.

@dehgovan, we appreciate your perspective on festivals and the importance of choice in participating in them. Penang remains a peaceful and welcoming place to visit. Terms like "memorycide" and "ethnocide" can be emotive and provoke strong reactions but may not contribute to a balanced discussion. It's essential to approach such debates with fairness and understanding, considering multiple viewpoints. Unfortunately, in our country, we have people who constantly feel threatened, often try to provoke fear. Our channel promotes inclusivity and celebrates differences, countering such divisive mentalities. Thank you.

@@mindfultrek Well said. I used to live about an hour away from a place call Glastonbury. Glastonbury Festival is world famous now but the festival itself does not takes place in Glastonbury. It takes place in Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset and no one is upset in similar manner. Have anice day.
