2023 UPDATE: Monti Kids stopped manufacturing and selling toys as of July 2023, and Kiwico switched up their crates a bit, so now Panda Crate encompasses 0 to 36 months, while the Koala Crate is intended for 3 to 4 year olds.
@@Schuyler102 I would start with the Lovevery Charmer Play kit personally! (the looker is great too but you can buy a wooden board book from their target line, and we never used a mobile), you can use code TCM for a discount on new subscriptions too! I'd say my first year would look something like this currently (KiwiCo's I'm specifically referring to their PLUS line and you can also use code TCM for a discount on new subscriptions): Lovevery The Charmer KiwiCo Let’s Discover KiwiCo Lets Listen Lovevery The Inspector KiwiCo Let’s Explore And torn between the last two kits from each line the first year because they're both great for different reasons!
Just a quick update on QUALITY: In this video I said that Lovevery and Monti Kids quality was about the same, but I will say in the last few months I've had 4 toys from Monti Kids (wooden interlocking discs, kicking ball, 1 mobile, and the gym) have some sort of defect or break versus my Lovevery toys which have sustained 2 kids and 3 years with no issues.
@@kelsey30 Yeah one of the legs wasn't cut right, so we couldn't slide it in to lock it into place. Honestly it just needed to be shaved an extra mm and if we had tools we could've easily fixed it ourselves but we didn't. They did send me a new one right away, and that's the only one I asked for a replacement for.
I have had the same issue with Monti kids and cancelled my subscription partly because of that. It was so disappointing😢. I was able to glue them back myself but that’s not what I expect to have to do every time I get a box from that.
Thank you for the video! I am first time Grandma and caring for our grandbaby a couple times a week. I bought the Lovevery and I agree I love these toy crates! We use every toy and the box is sent at age appropriate time. I started with box for 3-4 month old (first month I watched her) and just received the 5-6 month box. I LOVE the quality of the toys and that included in box is a nice booklet for the adult to learn and read about their baby and the stage of development. Very well done!! :D. I will get one more box in my subscription (7-8 months) and then I will re-evaluate what to do next. Thanks again!
Need it this kind of review, my daughter is 10 months and I wanted to challenge her a little bit. Was going crazy trying to decide what to get for her. Thank you!!
Thank you for this! A friend just sent me a link for kiwico, but I have been using lovevery from the very beginning with my daughter. I think we will stick with lovevery!
Thanks! Having an internal conflict with Kiwico… it’s becoming a love-hate relationship. Many of their toys are similar to Lovevery, and I even prefer some of them (like the beads and string - no plastic!), but the crate that just shipped seems…. Meh. And I just don’t see the value. We talk about feelings and acknowledge them as they come up. I don’t need 5-7 toys to teach them feelings, let alone when she’s above the age range they recommend. 🙄 I love the crates for the BIG kids (10+), where they do science experiments and make real practical items, but I’m probably going to call it quits on renewing for my tots. I got the subscriptions for their birthdays this year. Lovevery wins for me!
Monti Kids has stopped all discount codes with the price drop, but it's worth trying code TCM if they turn it back on (would only work on program, not stand alone products or kits) www.theconfusedmillennial.com/montikids +++ I definitely meant to say "WHAT" not why! Haha "WHAT" are you looking for most!
Right? 😂Every "aesthetic Montessori playroom" I see is mainly Waldorf. Which is totally fine but let's give credit to Waldorf if that's your real inspiration!
Haha yep! I'm guilty of it, but it's just because I know people are searching for Montessori and not waldorf haha! I think a lot of homeschooling IG moms really made montessori popular in social media times, but due to religious conflicts don't promo Waldorf... just my guess!
My only experience with KiwiCo was trying to get a box for a friend...and I could NOT figure out what I was about to send her son! Gave up and put together my own "kit" for her 🤣 Totally spot on comparison of all 3 👌
lol thank you! I'm sure your DIY kit was just as good! That's part of the reason I couldn't get behind Koala Crate! I'm pretty handy and some of the crates just seemed like I could DIY or recreate for less
My son is 8 months old and gets hurt sometimes while moving, pulling a toy and getting his head hit etc and starts crying badly. How do I handle him in this case? I usually carry him out and cool him down.
Oh gosh that's a really big question! I don't think there's one specific answer for each situation other than to just hold him and comfort him until he's calm! If it's related to a toy, I'd probably observe what's happening with that toy and see if I either need to put it away until and reintroduce in a few weeks to see if he's more capable or I need to model something for him where things are going wrong. If it's related to movement, we just always had our home be a yes zone, and were always conscious to not react or just smile until baby actually signaled needing us in a bigger way (pouting in that about to cry way or crying). E.g. a lot of adults gasp if baby falls so baby ends up crying as learned behavior from the adults (falling is nerve racking/scary).
Kiwico's products are not worth the price, their service is very bad, no phone support, only email for problems and often no reply, cancelled subscriptions will always be charged to your credit card, very scary
I have both they supplement each other and I think there is a big difference in quality between lovevery and monti kids, monti kids is better quality. I recommend both.

So since montikids is gone… which would you suggest for a newborn? My son was born last week and I’m looking to get him some goods!

@@nialeightly5645 They turned off all discount codes for now with the price drop :(
Can you share what the defect/break was on the monti kids gym?

You legit just described my EXACT experience/thoughts!
I'm doing one offs from their shop rn, and excited to go back to them when she's older.
Thank you I have an 8 year but about to give birth to my 2nd and wanted something easier this time.

SO true about most people wanting a Waldorf play room. 😆 Looking forward to your video about Montessori vs. Waldorf.

Thank you! Monti Kids has actually gone out of business as of a month or so ago!

I can totally see how they supplement for sure! What do you see as the difference in quality?
Did you get Monti kids and Lovevery did you find overlap. What age did you do both for.
