    At last, someone with a pair, people should follow this man's example and stand up for themselves, fair play to him. Nothing illegal done there.

      ***** Sorry but with a clamping company if you can take off the clamp without damaging it in anyway you haven't done anything "illegal" so as long as he hasn't damaged or stolen the equipment he hasn't done anything illegal.

    • @michaelfitzpatrick4027
      @michaelfitzpatrick4027 10 років тому +1

      But if you did that you would be talking it from where I had it which is stealing! And did he agree to have it installed on his property in the first place no, so if i came to your house without your permission and put up a new light outside your window youd be quick enough to want rid of it, just some people actually take action!

    • @michaelfitzpatrick4027
      @michaelfitzpatrick4027 10 років тому

      So its not connected to his property in anyway no?

    • @michaelfitzpatrick4027
      @michaelfitzpatrick4027 10 років тому +2

      Its like if they did put a new light in outside your house but directly used your power and billed you for it, im sure you would be delighted with that!

    I completly agree with Alan, he is right, it is obscene to be charging for water (twice - we have been paying for many years through general taxes) in Ireland. We have no water shortage problems.

    everbody do exactly everything alan does up to 3.20. take the water meter and blow hard into the bottom part and the numbers on the dial will go backwards. this is not a joke or get a pump for an airbed or bouncy castle and attach it to the bottom the black part of the meter and the dial will go backwards. blow it back to 1000 litres every week and it will appear you are using not as much water as you realy are. this is not a joke

    I’m from the USA I’m surprised you have just got water meters in Ireland. I am a contractor that works for municipalities here in the US and meters are a lot more difficult for a homeowner to remove but not impossible it rarely happens. Meters are really good for finding leaks on a homeowners pipe unfortunately we don’t have a way to do it on the city’s side but hope it bubbles up. Water is inexpensive here the biggest expense is natural gas if you live in cold climate and electric if you live in hot climate. If you have free water in Ireland in 2020 fight to keep as long as possible because once you have those meters in every house that’s it.

    They're also adding fluoride to the drinking water without our consent.

    • @CuchuIainn
      @CuchuIainn 10 років тому +5

      ***** Sanitation isn't comparable to medication. Get your tinfoil hat on.

    • @CuchuIainn
      @CuchuIainn 10 років тому +2

      ***** It isn't healthy to randomly consume unnecessary medication. On the back of a tube of toothpaste it says 'contact a doctor if ingested' & 'keep out of the reach of children'. Fluoridation is banned in the Netherlands. Tinfoil helps to repel electromagnetic frequencies aimed at us by "smart" meters.

    • @CuchuIainn
      @CuchuIainn 10 років тому +2

      ***** How much water we drink is random. How long we prepare food in the fluoride is random. The fluoride we absorb through bathing & showering is random. Children being exposed to the same level of fluoride as an adult isn't healthy. It isn't done in a controlled fashion.

    • @CuchuIainn
      @CuchuIainn 10 років тому +2

      ***** It is random, how much water we drink isn't a set amount. Fluoride is absorbed through the skin like a nicotine patch and it's absorbed into food during boiling, steaming & soaking. You want proof that fluoride is "anything but beneficial to dental health" - it's called *fluorosis.* Stop arguing out of ignorance, this is a very serious matter.

    • @CuchuIainn
      @CuchuIainn 10 років тому +2

      ***** We have to drink a minimum amount, not a set amount. There are many factors that influence how much a person needs to drink; physical exercise, environment temperature, general health, diet. You are making erroneous claims. The use of fluoridated water to hydrate farm animals & water crops also adds to the amount ingested. If you like clean teeth, then brush your teeth. Don't support the villainous tampering of the public's water supply.

    Well done, Alan. It's outrageous to introduce water charges in Ireland. I'd say, though, that even though that procedure might seem simple to you, it will be beyond the skills of most people (especially the specs of those improvised tools made by your friend). If somebody offered to remove these meters for a few quid...? Also, it isn't possible to actually see what you're doing down there, so a diagram might make things clearer.

One of the most important lessons I have learnt in life is when bullied and abused ALWAYS fight back!!! ALWAYS! It really is better to risk retaliation than allow oneself to be subjugated and treated like dirt

      My question is, does "taken in charge" give them the right to impose a private company;s water meter on the residents of each house.
      Does anybody know the legal definition and the "rights" which the council acquires when it "takes in charge" the public paths and roadways which were the property of the developer in the first place.?

    Ok where to start with this one. You are not owed anything. If you want to remove the water meter you can do so, but you should not expect free clean running water. It is 100% reasonable to pay for things provided to you. If you don't want to pay, grand, go collect your own rain water or something.

    • @daithihanuman
      @daithihanuman 9 років тому +3

      actually the government made it illegal to harvest rainwater so that's out too. I guess ill be sending trocaire boxes to Africa so they can collect money because we need clean water too..

    • @NT-fb6ow
      @NT-fb6ow 9 років тому

      Daithi Joyce It is 100% not illegal to harvest rainwater. Maybe it's illegal to sell it or something but absolutely not illegal that is just false.

    • @brianedaly
      @brianedaly 9 років тому

      Daithi Joyce That's completely false. No such thing has happened. In fact there are moves to make rain water harvesting mandatory on all new builds. Check your facts in future.

    • @josephtravers4160
      @josephtravers4160 9 років тому

      Do you not know that water is a human right.

    • @brianedaly
      @brianedaly 9 років тому

      joseph travers Sure and you'd do well to read how it's defined by the UN
      "The human right to water entitles everyone to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible and affordable water for personal and domestic uses", UN CESC - General Comment 15, para.2
      Note the reference to affordable which means that water can be charged for and so it should be. This is why the folks at the Right2Water seem to be a bit shy on quoting the UN definition. The UN says the right to water does not exclude being charged for it. Water is affordable for most people in this country.
      There is no human rights issue with Irish Water charging for water or indeed is there in just about any other developed country that charges for domestic water either. The other thing is that we've gone well beyond water as a human rights issue when it's on demand from a tap in your home and you can urinate in it and flush it down the loo. That's a privilege that you should pay for.

    Ok so a lot of people giving out about irish water so here,a service is what you pay for if you want free water go down to the local pond or river with a bucket and get you're free water, if you want water that is clean and safe to drink you gotta pay for it, the water pipes in this country are fucked leaking and contaminating water, As a country we do not have enough money to fix the pipes its to late for that, our tax is not enough for the expenses of cleaning our water clean drinking water do not fall from the sky

      pullthebollockoff You are an idiot if you don't know that the water infrastructure in this country ( such as it is) isn't already paid for by us through taxes such as Motor Tax, and if you do know, you are a gombeen for trying to make US out to be the sorts of people who expect things for nothing! You are obviously not intelligent enough for what you are attempting to do! Go away!
