short game? im like 100 hours in and have done maybe 4 main story quests. I never understand why people would want to speed run and open world game. I do literally all the side quests and make sure I get every little thing from every single area and explore everything
I do the same thing. I've been playing it for two weeks, and I have it on two different consoles at the same time. It's hours of gameplay for me, doing all of the main and side quests.
So far ive spent 5 hours in edgewater trying to complete side quests, for the 3 books before meeting thomas so that felt rewarding, just got the game since it was on sale :)
... i did all the side quests and explored everywhere and it took me like... 4 days. I would explore every house, talk to every person that didnt have a generic name, like i wouldn't talk to every Corporate Guard or whatever just ones with actual names unless of course you need to, did all the follower quests also. Im sure theres more for me to do but sadly due to the piece of junk the xbox beta thing on PC is, none of my progress was tracked achievement wise so i have no way of checking.
By not being tracked i mean that when i load the game it gave me the option to connect to my xbox account and track my game, I had to click no dont connect because if i said yes do connect, the game would get stuck on the main menu screen ans never load
Unlike Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, you can fast travel even inside buildings, directly from the interior of your ship, basically anywhere, as long as the "no enemies nearby" rule is met. This saves so much time when you've run by the whole area.
@DraakoThe(Game-Breaking)Dragon That's also not true. You can fast travel directly from the interior of the Unreliable and there is a load barrier. I've fast travelled from other areas too.
The thing I also like is that you can fast travel even though you exceeded your weight limit. I always hated that you couldn't fast travel due to that in Skyrim.
He was talking about rushing through the main quest line. You can bum-rush the main quest in a few hours. Heck, there are speed runners beating this thing in under 15 mins; but a "normal" play-through where you explore all the side missions and companion quests will take considerably longer.
@@bl3umoon I saw a speed run of this, the guy then took 12.7 min , with the devs watching also , and was level 7 at the end , and did the ship into the sun ending ...
Definitely a refreshing single-player experience in a sea of micro-transactions and corporate greed. What’s ironic is that the Outer Worlds is a satirical piece which pokes fun at this aforementioned corporate America. It is fun, very cheap during sales, and an overall well-rounded, polished experience. It’s most definitely my favorite pickup in the space-dystopian-esque genre this year.
Id say get lockpicking up high fast, there are a lot of chest to open everywhere and there is a lot less hacking around plus you mostly can hack things or lockpick them instead.
Easy: Go on hack and Lockpick on 50 then have to different sets of armor. One for Lockpicking the other for hacking. Felix gives you 10+ Lockpicking, Vikar Max gives you 10+ hacking. This is how I had in early game hack and Lockpicking, but also didn't had to skill it too hard
@@genericname110 I am currently playing the game right now...just finished the first planet you start on. I unlocked every single thing on the planet, and my lockpicking skill is only a 20. I think I still have around 15-18 Maglocks(picks) left.
I honestly found that I could unlock basically anything at 60ish lockpicking as long as I had the Safecracker jacket and bonus stats from my companions. The Armor Master perk also doubles all bonuses from equipment, so putting on the SCJ gives me +20. I easily had 107 when I put on the right gear and had Parvati with me.
Just a note on stealing: If you walk into a room that has a sliding door, close it behind you before you start stealing. Even if 20 corporate guards are on the other side they won’t see you. If the door is open, they can sometimes see you from 5-6 screens away. Also make sure your crouching when you steal, because it makes your character much harder for enemies to detect. General rule of thumb, if the enemies don’t have a line of site on you, you can steal stuff without issue.
@noneofyourbusiness4616 That is why I do lure them inside the room by moving to far side of the room opposite of the door before shutting the doors. Fair warning is NPC who can stroll into rooms can reopen the shut doors too. Base your steal timing from observing NPC walking patterns to know how much time you have to steal , stop and finish off stealing in the room in-between NPC walking pattern of say location. First one happens at Edgewater's actual main landing pad with building nearby Edgewater entrance big door side of landing pad that has workbench and you get side quest from say NPC who strolls into building and backout awhile reopening shut door if you shut it. That was first time that I had learned NPC can reopen shut door during their walking patterns and you are stealing. Luckily, he didn't see me crouch behind table and chairs awhile stealing from big floor container. So , no reproach comment from NPC nor loss of reputation for my first character named Josie Pussycat. If you had watched old cartoon show , you will know my quirky character name and her personality. She is still one of my top favorite characters that I had played as charming intelligent rogue scientist build. My current one is stupid charmer strength build for one/two handed weapons named Jethro Bodine from old TV sitcom Beverly Hillbillies. This is actually hilarious playthrough with Jethro's stupid charmer antics that tries to do good yet goes sideways into waste basket at times just like his namesake from Beverly Hillbillies.
Dialogue and hacking/lockpicking were the useful skills for me. Like stealing the Byzantium pass from Gladys' safe in front of everyone and using bribe for 80 bits to get away with it
@@RantRadio Never had that problem but I think that's because my groundbreaker reputation was good. Also I ducked down on the side of the safe when I picked the lock. And once you get the pass and land at Byzantium go back to Groundbreaker and give the Board seal back to Udom Bedford for a load of XP and some bits
Just picked up the game and I'm really enjoying the dialogue - lots of funny moments without the being usual, cliched I'm-a-wacky-character. The deliberate dumbness and unquestioning company loyalty - or fake loyalty in some cases - of the characters in the first area makes this the most laughter a video game has given me in a long, long time.
I can agree with that. One of the most memorable moments early on for me was the definition of "Closest Living Relative." That was simultaneously HILARIOUS and HORRIFYING from an ethics standpoint, and perfectly encapsulates this game.
I’ve done that and I know I’ll do it again because I haven’t even finished the game yet. Discovered an area and was just planning to use to fast travel to the nearest objective if I needed to
This is the only game that made me cry of happiness when it showed what happened to companions making them best friends instead of dating was the best idea ever
One thing I noticed at the end of my play through is that when you don’t have enough points spent in lock picking you can consume items for temporary attributes to open the door or chest.
you can also change your equipment and allies for boosts too - having two allies with lockpicking skills boosts yours - especially with all three of you tricked out in lockpicking stuff - it's iirc like 30+ bonus points fairly easily
While robophobia is a challenging flaw, I enjoyed the game even after taking the flaw. It kept some of the later encounters with enemies challenging even after I had upgraded my weapons to blow non-robot enemies away. The flaw I most regretted taking was concussion.
Honestly the dmg flaws aren't terrible to take either, besides physical. After you get the ball rolling from esrly game getting two shotted by like level 4 maruders, you should be fine ,- i'd rather not lose regen or 15% crit dmg because a certain kind of foe is nearby. Tbh outside of the low hp, no ally hardcore build or melee expert, you kinda don't need flaws anyway, aside for earlier tier 2/3 skills.
Upgrading weapons a couple levels is cheap and effective. Don't forget you can do this to armor pieces for extra def. I also found its worth keeping a couple pieces that boost certain skills like hack/lockpicking/dialogue. This way you can put on the certain items if your a few skill points off a check
Attention to detail, lore, being immersed in surroundings, utility and getting your money's worth out of the game is way more important than travel speed in any game for me!
I'd suggest not tinker & level up weapons too much early on. It gets insanely expensive just to keep them up to same level. After a while you'll find same weapons starting out at much higher levels with better damage as default...But the key thing is that the tinkering price for these higher level weapons starts at low cost of just a few bits. Far cheaper.
This is pretty much the Firefly game I always wanted. May not have the specific "in-universe" references and stuff, but the corporations are basically the Alliance, it's got a dirty, space western feel and Parvati reminds me a lot of Kaylee. Just missing Nathan Fillion in my opinion XD
There is a Firefly Easter egg tho. Sometimes when you go back to your ship ADA will say something about shipments of fertilizer. If you look in the bay (room with the workshop) there will be some wooly cows. This is a reference to the episodes where the crew of Serenity delivered the space cows. I don't remember which episode it was but they took the job at the end of one episode and were delivering them at the start of the next episode.
i mean, you make your own character, just make him. fell for some reason i made geralt in fallout 4. i have no idea why. i didn't even intentionally do it, or notice till i got to father and went "heh he looks like geralt" then cuts to my character with the sort of manbun, white hair, facial scars, etc and i went "oh. that's why." proceed to spec into melee and chem usage.
i like it that way because if you have aquire duplicate of your weapon you will know if that one is stronger that the one you are using right now, wheter as if you change the stat your old weapon will most likely be shown as the one with the highest damage since you can upgrade it, but in reality the duplicate is the better weapon if you upgrade it to the same level
:O that's my biggest problem with the quests. It takes me forever to sort through them all and check my map constantly to keep me from running back and forth across the maps. Thank you!!!
Know this video is old, but I feel some tips should be brought in, specially since the last DLC just came. 1. DONT sell to vending machines on planets that's still neutral. It's a giant leap in price between positive and neutral. 2. Get the snake oil perk for the same reason, cause tinkering is insanly expensive. 3. Check your companions preffered weapons, and give them uniforms that buff they're core stats. 4. Get the perk that gives you 100 % of the companions perk. It's probably the most important perk if you don't go solo. 5. Get block to 20 fast. You'll unlock the leap, which is nice fetching loot
Also, use your ships storage containers to save items. That helped me collect everything I could and treat the items like assets. Sell them when I need money, bank specialized helmets and outfits that I only need occasionally, store loadouts for companions etc...
Disabling the Adreno-shot is a good tip, especially since I will often accidentally hit the inhaler button when I meant to hit the time dilation button. As for the perks, I still contend that the best Tier 1 perk is the one that lets you fast-travel even when encumbered. In most games if you get encumbered you can drop item(s) and maybe come back for it later. Whereas in this game, your options are 1.) Find a vendor, 2.) Find a container, or 3.) Destroy the item. This is also a good reason to unlock the ability to sell items to vending kiosks, as there are more of them than there are human vendors.
I just want to thank you as a UA-camr for being straight to the point and not taking forever to explain everything and not rambling about subscribing and liking and giveaways and blah blah blah at the beginning of your video. Thank you. Also this video was very helpful
Another tip! The quest in the beginning where you need to buy the Navkey for 10k bits, you actually dont have to buy it. Just obtain the bits, then fly to monarch and sprint to stellar bay bypassing all enemies. super easy and its nice to have those extra bits in the early game. :)
I swear I'm slow sometimes. Finneas literally tells you this pretty early on, and I didn't realize I could do this till my third play through. Saved me about an hour of scavenging around the groundbreaker, and robbing my poor boy Martin blind.
"Don't spend your skill points until you need them." I always found these sorts of players kind of weird and somewhat unimaginative. Choosing skills based on your immediate needs is good for players who are being more pragmatic and focused more on achieving, but I like to do builds, especially as they work for roleplay. My characters' weaknesses and flaws define them just as much as their strengths. Oh, I can't talk that guy into not fighting me? Well that's cause the character I'm playing is used to letting his weapons do the talking so he has the charm of an old boot. I can't take a punch to the face and shrug it off? Well that's cause my character is a geeky nerd who prefers to use the power of SCIENCE! Playing the game just to win, in my experience, makes it kind of tiring - it's when you apply fun ideas that it really shines. In a similar vain, not all my characters have skills in science or engineering, because they're not the brainy sorts who can wrap their heads around that stuff. Sure, this often results in buying new weapons to replace old ones, but again it's part of the experience.
@@kingcollie I do hope you enjoy playing it like this! The thing to remember is "who is this character I am trying to build?" What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses? Plan the basic idea and build upon it. I find it helps add to replay value of a game, running through and making different characters for each playthrough. Hopefully with the introduction of DLC we'll get more potential.e
I always saved just enough points just incase I need them. And they were 90% of the time on dialogue skills. I waited till i had a speech check then i put in points. I eventually decided to max out speech because I noticed I preferred talking my way out of (sometimes into) situations. Next playthrough will be a dumb melee wielding masochists
i can tell you're younger than i am simply by taking the faster speed over more carrying capacity. lol...this world is awesome to explore, i have no desire to get through it faster!
And ultimately your exploration and thorough treasure hunting will result in....nothing! Seriously, I like this game but as someone who spent over 60 hours in my first playthrough, all that item collecting was entirely pointless.
@@IonSquared Yeah, that was a huge disappointment. Collected 100k bits, which turned out to be useless (hoped to see some overpriced and overpowered items...). It's funny that I still couldn't afford tinkering, which is why I consider it to be extremely flawed: in all/most games such ability makes upgrading cheaper than buying existing high-level items (apart from "named"/special/pre-upgraded items), which is even supported by the idea of overpriced items sold by corporations (I may be wrong, but I think this was the case with SWKOTOR 2).
@@KJ_Jizzle No. You _need_ to explore, and even do re-runs of Monarch from end to end, because you'll keep collecting bits & ammo from the marauders you come across. How can you say exploring is a waste of time???
I wish you could just level up the existing companion armor, since it is part of their personality. Still "equip" new armor, but have the choice to keep it looking like their original outfits. Max should be allowed to run around in his religious skirt, but still deserves armor. The artists spent a lot of time making the companions have distinctive appearances and they should be able to keep them. I love the fact that in AC:Odd you can pick models and skins for your items. Some are absolutely beautiful while others are just plain butt fucking ugly.
This game feels like a spiritual successor to the SWKOTOR series from back in the day. It evoked such a sense of nostalgia in me for that game and also for the best parts of Fallout New Vegas, which it seems only Obsidian has the special sauce to make. Whoever is in charge of dialogue at obsidian should be protected at all costs
I found it useful later in the game when I had explored everywhere and the fetch quests started laying on thick. "Sorry manti queen, but I gotta find this beacon and I've killed you 30 times already"
eh not really - are you 'enjoying' walking for like 50 hours instead of 40 hours? cause that's all it is. there aren't a shit ton of good perks to begin with, really - might as well get one that helps mitigate one of the more boring parts of video games - just getting from point a to point b with fuck all to do in between.
I for one like it for combat, because my character enjoys and excels in melee combat. It and the jump dodging thing helps with closing distance, and retreating if I have to.
Don't forget that when you max out a perv category to an average of 50 you can manually level up each sub category with your perc points. (ie lock pick skill higher than 50)
What I like about this game most is that while like in any RPG, stats do matter to a certain extent - it isn't super important to have an absolutely "optimal," build unless you are playing on Supernova. It does what an RPG should do first and foremost - be an RPG, and tells stories. You can play around with your stats and skills a lot, and not get too bogged down in the fine details. Which I feel a lot of modern day RPGs just focus too much on the grind, and raw stats, and math. They forget about literally the most important part of an RPG. To ROLE PLAY. Which this game does brilliantly. While also maintaining a degree of complexity in character building without getting too mind boggling, and not punishing you harshly for not having a perfect perk/skill distribution.
@@CylinderHeadE60 i did that and managed pretty fine. But only because i had the right companions/clothes for any given speech option (accidentally i didnt check before hand.) And i always got the keycards.
eh not all of them - the 'smarts' stuff, sure, most other stuff, eh, depends: you don't need the intimidate ish skills that high, stealth skills that high, that fast, and you don't need the personality stuff high either. mind stuff's pretty good, it's definitely a close second however focusing early points on tech is fantastic: better healing and more slots is great from medical, engineering is better repair and modding gear, and science is like the gold tier skill in the game: plasma and shock damage, tinkering equipment to give some nice modded weapon you like a little bit more longevity till the next tier weapon equivalent is found, tinkering cost down, and even a bonus of 25% damage for the other two 'elemental' types: with the added perk of the science weapons which are a category of their own, are buffed: even if you're a pistol user with high science you've got access to decent other options thanks to science weapons. more so than just 'non combat stuff', worry about break points on stuff you give a shit about: terrify having a bigger AOE isn't a big deal: tinkering cost halved, extra drug slots is nice, 1 lockpic locks are free is pretty big (25% more bits in containers give or take - lot of the income i feel is selling stuff you've looted), sell anything to vending machines and restricted inventory's nice (see above: lots of interiors have vending machines not so much salesman), and i'd say get either melee or guns to 20 for their effects if they're not at 20 thanks to skills and that's a fairly good start
The running perk can be useful early on with Queen mantisaurs on Supernova diff. Especially when ammo is more scarce. However, you do get too OP too quickly.
I wish even the updated Outer Worlds port for Switch looked a fraction as good as this. There are so many pixelated textures that just won't even load and I don't think it was programmed to have some of them load. In other areas it looks brilliant and its just this inconsistency that makes the very low res textures stand out when there are parts of the game that look great. Combined with the lower details on...everything...from missing foliage to weapons and armor detail it makes me want to play this on the Series X when it launches. I'm also hoping a possible next generation 'Switch Pro' or upgraded model will be able to run this game and other at a higher fidelity and performance. The frame rate is playable and the game itself is playable but there is some hitching and pop in along with a strange FOV that feels a bit claustrophibic like you can't see as much as you should at one time in your view because the system limitations. I'm glad they have ported it and upgraded it but its a shame it can't be a bit better. I didn't notice very much of a difference from the day one patch to the patch that came out a few weeks back. Either way I'm still enjoying the game because of the great story, gameplay loops and looting, dark humor and characters, and large world to explore. The writing and story parts really stand out in this. On the other hand the Borderlands ports look fantastic compared to this and have a similar tone of humor though not quite as dark and the Borderlands games don't have that Fallout style and feel I really enjoy. That being said I got the Borderlands games and am enjoying them on Switch as well. There's an impressive number of AAA open world games on Switch from third party and with the Switch breaking records for sales on track for possibly 100 million by the end it's looking good for Switch owners. Nintendo just really needs to step up and offer an upgraded model that allows for more games and better experiences on current games without fracturing the player base so much.
Determination 60 is a "MUST". A 100% increase in bonus skill boost from companions means having a really high skill in almost any skill you need with just a swap of followers as needed. EDIT: Inspiration, not Determination. The other leadership skill. Determination is good also but not as awesome as Inspiration at 60.
Wish I knew earlier: raptidon meat heavy! I was just assuming that the stuff I was getting from dead creatures was going into junk and being cleared out at stores, but while canid meat is considered junk, raptidon meat isn't and weighs 1 each rather than the small fraction of most consumables. Once I realized that I freed back up a lot of carrying capacity being wasted.
I took robophobia and completed last night. Don't know why he says not to take it. Presumably it's to do with a late battle which I found easy on hard mode anyway.
it doesn't really matter how high the level of your weapon is. the cost doesn't really increase. it only matters HOW OFTEN you upgrade it. the more you upgrade it the more expensive it gets. so upgrading a higher level weapon instead of your old but lover level weapon is a LOT cheaper. lil' weapon tip: i played the game through on highest difficulty as my first playthrough and instantly found out that the machine guns are your best choice against robots. personally i like the light machine gun even more than the heavy one. either way, give that gun mag-2-zap and sure 'n straight barrel. you will shred through every robot (and other creatures) that way.
Wish I knew how short it was, by the time I got cool weapons and armor and upgraded my character the game was over. Didn't have time to use all the good stuff
Lmao same I was disappointed but I’m addicted to this game and made another character this time I’m doin every side quest and getting every achievement
@@Whiteysteward I was considering playing it again but didn't wana start all over already. There's 3 planets you can't goto so hopefully it's free dlc since the game was so short
@@geordiejones5618 cause everything can be done in 25 hours, every mission, every side mission. It's an open world rpg and there's not nearly enough quests, it was great just not enough content
My comment is to pay attention to the buying and selling discount percentage when dealing with vendors. Some vendors will pay more than the item’s worth because you have a better standing/reputation with their certain faction.
I told myself I was gonna take any flaw they gave me on my first playthrough. I had a fight with some robots where we handled them with no casualties. It tried to give me the robophobia flaw. It seemed off. Like, I just beat them and you're saying I suck vs. them. So, I didn't take it. Good to know I made a wise decision.
There were quite a bit tips that were either not that great or flat out wrong: 1) Companions are viable for most/all of supernova just crank up your leaderships skills early. It doesn't even hurt you in other skills since you unlock the 100% increase in companion skills that transfer to you. 2) Areas are not that large an you can fast travel mostly anywhere so faster run speed is definitely not that important as stated, maybe on supernova, but you can still fast travel to your ship. 3) Adreno shot can't be unequipped anymore, but it was right at the time. 4) Companions do not have there helmets on then spoken to, no matter which option is on. 5) Any difficulty can lower their intelligence to below average, just take three Adrena-time drugs, each crash give you -1 to all attributes. 6) Robotphobia has some situational uses. It doesn't hurt melee players that much, compared to ranged and you can have the revenge perk always on, if you bring SAM with you.
Can somebody tell me exactly what is the art style used in this game? As seen in loading screens, fictional space products, and some fashion choices. Is it late 19th century or late 20th century? Whatever it is. I find it as a breath of fresh air away from the retro-future 1950's look of all the Fallout games.
I started in Super Nova, but companion death was a pain in the ass, as many enemies focus your companions and kill them instantly if you're not playing a tank build that draws aggro.
I’m playing on hard (26 hours), taking my time and doing every sidequests and my companions die almost in every fight. If I play Supernova I will do it lone wolf mode. There’s even perks to have better stats when playing solo.
Set to ranged and defensive, hold down on d pad to call them back if they stray, heavy armor for everyone, ttd stand still and spam inhaler if they get low.
Level up your leadership, it helps a ton in supernova. also since they have infinite ammo, u can let them use your strongest weapons and they will melt everything that run into their faces
Speaking pf supernova and companions, there is no reason to not take them until you get 20-ish level as their special abilities make the game significantly easier. Just make sure that you go the companions' settings and set their behavior to defensive and weapons to ranged and it's gonna be alright, well, mostly
I'm having a regret about getting rid of my companions weapons and giving them stuff picked up or bought. I never noticed it until I recruited Ellie and seen her Revolver is the best gun for her, even if I give her weapons far greater in dps. Wondering if I made a mistake to get rid of for example Pravadis hammer for example 🤔
If you do have Robo phobia have a hard save before the encounter at the end of the game. When you enter the room immediately crouch down and make your way to the terminals. As long as your character does not see the robot the phobia will not kick in. I noticed they had a new patch but on my first play through it worked.
The thing I just realized is unique gun aren’t stronger then there base versions as a matter of fact the base guns seem to be much stronger seeing how you can’t mode unique weapons.
ya I just accepted any flaws that popped up and now super regret getting robophobia and permanent concussion. Definitely not worth the 2 perks, especially when you get them so easily through leveling up anyways, and after a while you dont really need anymore. Robophobia has an obvious reason once you get to that part, but permanent concussion just permanently screws your skills tree, basically every important stat gets knocked down
You can land on Monarch - Cascadia for free. Travel to Stellar Bay on Foot and enable the Fanding Pad, without paying 8.000 Bits. Instead, use the Money to sell out Phineas. Hear me out. Play a Double Agent, you can sabotage the Board from within and tell Phineas about it. You get Tons more XP and Money. Skills you want to raise first: Sneak 40 for Pickpocketing Science: 100 if you heavily use Science Weapons, also to reduce tinker Cost by 90% (!) Tech 40 for Chance of Mods when scrapping
Cascademenace don’t forget to carry robbery gear. There’s a +5 Lockpick helmet you can get right in the beginning, and a mining outfit that increased stealth skills that dropped for me in the first encounter. If you’re not going to invest in those skills, they can bring the cost of the pick down by one or more mag-picks, which will add up. High enough skill and you don’t have to spend ANY picks, which is why I prioritize it over combat skills. I know I can get headshots, but lockpicks are finite resources.
Raptodon meat is the only animal loot that isn't junk. It's meat, and it's way heavier than other meat. If your inventory is mysteriously full like mine was, check your health items for raptodon meat. Related, there are only a limited number of *types* of health items, but many different brands. Some brands last longer than others, and a lot are even identical. I couldn't find a decent way to sort through the dozens of duplicates I had, it's just kinda a pain.
please do not upgrade run speed, you have toons of points for travel, you going to be seing a load screen much more than you going to be running, unless you using a melee character, then is a must have ability
@@leeroyclarkson maybe, on supernova most people are going to use stealth or take much care on how they go from place to place, even if you go faster you still are going to be running from fight to fight and enemies are not very far apart in this game
leeroyclarkson I’m playing supernova and restart anytime a crew member dies and not gonna lie I started game on normal seemed easy and went straight for the hardest difficulty on a restart but I defiantly rather do the normal walk speed then restart a lot for running into enemies without stealth
Yes I know what you mean about the robot phobia; however with a 100 percent in lockpick and hack you can really save your self some trouble at the end.
Main thing I want is a third person view option for this game, I love the game and have enjoyed playing it alot but damn it all I want that third person camera lol.
If you want to get as much of the content as possible from the game per playthrough then do side quests first. If anything is asking for you to choose between factions put that quest to the side so you can have good relations with everyone and do all the quests possible
The other thing they don’t tell you is that the game will automatically replace any exhausted items with items that do the same thing. Kind of frustrating, honestly.
Temp boost your dialog skills imp faction rep for best prices in shops. Carry and swap hats and clothes (0.0 or 1.0 weight) for situational skill boosts.
You can lower your intelligence with the permanent concussion flaw. Step on enough landmines and dumb dialogue can be unlocked for a character who started with average intelligence.
Pertaining to that "don't spend your skill points" thing, isn't this a shorter game? It's not like Skyrim where your going to be stuck with a character for awhile, I've heard it more of a replay kind of game so your not too stuck with a bad decision.

First tip: take the perk that makes you run and walk faster.
Last tip: do no rush the game.
He was talking about rushing through the main quest line. You can bum-rush the main quest in a few hours. Heck, there are speed runners beating this thing in under 15 mins; but a "normal" play-through where you explore all the side missions and companion quests will take considerably longer.
Enjoy everything but with faster running in between
@@bl3umoon I saw a speed run of this, the guy then took 12.7 min , with the devs watching also , and was level 7 at the end , and did the ship into the sun ending ...

Capitalist dystopia space Western is how I've been describing it. I love this game so so much.

Id say get lockpicking up high fast, there are a lot of chest to open everywhere and there is a lot less hacking around plus you mostly can hack things or lockpick them instead.
Yes, I agree very much with this. Lockpicking always has to prioritized
Easy: Go on hack and Lockpick on 50 then have to different sets of armor. One for Lockpicking the other for hacking. Felix gives you 10+ Lockpicking, Vikar Max gives you 10+ hacking. This is how I had in early game hack and Lockpicking, but also didn't had to skill it too hard
there's not nearly enough resources to open the locks even if your lockpicking is really high early on
@@genericname110 I am currently playing the game right now...just finished the first planet you start on.
Making my character dumb has been the greatest decision I have ever made. So hilarious.
Just a note on stealing:
If you walk into a room that has a sliding door, close it behind you before you start stealing.
Just like real life!
But beware, your companions will open the door behind you and expose your stealing to everyone.

Holy crap. I was wondering about this. THANKS!

My mistake is usually clearing enemies without knowing the area is for a sidequest.
I killed every enemy on my way in the game and had no problems later on for quests? Is there a specific quest you have problem with?
I’ve done that and I know I’ll do it again because I haven’t even finished the game yet. Discovered an area and was just planning to use to fast travel to the nearest objective if I needed to
I love to do that actually... I clear a place and then the side quest happens. The game refills the place with enemies :D
I did that with monarch landed on the farside and fought my way all around the map then did side quests

AGREE on concussion! I ended up just restarting my game, I was only 3 hours in on my second run.
Found that out the hard way. Life as a broke space hobo ain't easy.
Amazing tip! Will def bear this in mind for my next run through, cheers 😊

exert2020 I like that they have a way to spend your bits if you just end up with a crap load extra as I usually do in games like this.
@@kylep8183 Yes. I've been leaving special weapons, the ones with orange swirls, untouched. Something to spend bits on nearer the end.

The energy cells are also called Firefly. Parvati was kind of Kaylee but also Rikku from FFX, and the marauders looked like the Al Behd from FFX too

Persuasion is probably the most helpful skill you can have and if you max out lock pick you can skip the final boss fight altogether if you so wish

I didnt know that about the consumables, wow, all this time playing, I thought the open slots were just for shortcuts.
There is option 4: eat/drink a consumable that increases body attributes which will increase your carry capacity.
i cant find the option button on pc for taking out the adreno-shot
I just want to thank you as a UA-camr for being straight to the point and not taking forever to explain everything and not rambling about subscribing and liking and giveaways and blah blah blah at the beginning of your video. Thank you. Also this video was very helpful
Another tip! The quest in the beginning where you need to buy the Navkey for 10k bits, you actually dont have to buy it. Just obtain the bits, then fly to monarch and sprint to stellar bay bypassing all enemies. super easy and its nice to have those extra bits in the early game. :)

"Don't spend your skill points until you need them."
I always found these sorts of players kind of weird and somewhat unimaginative.
I really enjoy this explanation and idea of your approach. I'm going to apply it to my own experience! Cheers!
@@kingcollie I do hope you enjoy playing it like this! The thing to remember is "who is this character I am trying to build?" What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses? Hopefully with the introduction of DLC we'll get more potential.e

I always saved just enough points just incase I need them. And they were 90% of the time on dialogue skills. I waited till i had a speech check then i put in points. i can tell you're younger than i am simply by taking the faster speed over more carrying capacity. lol...this world is awesome to explore, i have no desire to get through it faster!
Hell yeah
And ultimately your exploration and thorough treasure hunting will result in....nothing! Seriously, I like this game but as someone who spent over 60 hours in my first playthrough, all that item collecting was entirely pointless.
@@IonSquared after obtaining the same armor & weapons I gave up on extra exploration.

While also maintaining a degree of complexity in character building without getting too mind boggling, and not punishing you harshly for not having a perfect perk/skill distribution.
things i wish i knew: this is a game about spending 90% your play time picking stuff up.
True, so many consumables you dont get to use.

@@CylinderHeadE60 i did that and managed pretty fine. But only because i had the right companions/clothes for any given speech option (accidentally i didnt check before hand.) And i always got the keycards.
eh not all of them - the 'smarts' stuff, sure, most other stuff, eh, depends: you don't need the intimidate ish skills that high, stealth skills that high, that fast, and you don't need the personality stuff high either. mind stuff's pretty good, it's definitely a close second
however focusing early points on tech is fantastic: better healing and more slots is great from medical, engineering is better repair and modding gear, and science is like the gold tier skill in the game: plasma and shock damage, tinkering equipment to give some nice modded weapon you like a little bit more longevity till the next tier weapon equivalent is found, tinkering cost down, and even a bonus of 25% damage for the other two 'elemental' types: with the added perk of the science weapons which are a category of their own, are buffed: even if you're a pistol user with high science you've got access to decent other options thanks to science weapons.
more so than just 'non combat stuff', worry about break points on stuff you give a shit about: terrify having a bigger AOE isn't a big deal: tinkering cost halved, extra drug slots is nice, 1 lockpic locks are free is pretty big (25% more bits in containers give or take - lot of the income i feel is selling stuff you've looted), sell anything to vending machines and restricted inventory's nice (see above: lots of interiors have vending machines not so much salesman), and i'd say get either melee or guns to 20 for their effects if they're not at 20 thanks to skills and that's a fairly good start

There were quite a bit tips that were either not that great or flat out wrong:
1) Companions are viable for most/all of supernova just crank up your leaderships skills early.
Love the tips! Thank you for taking time to make this video. I just started and these really helped. Also can't wait to see what this robophobia is.
Just make sure that you go the companions' settings and set their behavior to defensive and weapons to ranged and it's gonna be alright, well, mostly
remember, you can kill any npc
Thank you for this most invaluable information
My companions killed Gladys, I was pretty sad about that one
Probably one of the better tips videos I’ve seen for this that isn’t just something like “if you use your weapons you can kill things”
Robophobia has an obvious reason once you get to that part, but permanent concussion just permanently screws your skills tree, basically every important stat gets knocked down
I don't like having companions around - im the lone wanderer

You can land on Monarch - Cascadia for free. Travel to Stellar Bay on Foot and enable the Fanding Pad, without paying 8.000 Bits.
Instead, use the Money to sell out Phineas.
Hear me out.
Play a Double Agent, you can sabotage the Board from within and tell Phineas about it.
You get Tons more XP and Money.
Skills you want to raise first:
Sneak 40 for Pickpocketing
Science: 100 if you heavily use Science Weapons, also to reduce tinker Cost by 90% (!)
Tech 40 for Chance of Mods when scrapping
Just started playing today and my gosh it’s great! Thanks for the tips ✌️
0:48 whoa...! Now that makes sense!
Only complaint - there are too few of the lockpick thingys. I can only pick about 1 in 3 locks I come across because I can't find enough of them.
Most vendors have 3-5 and they're cheap (imo), I just buy them to keep my stock up.
If you aren't against stealing I had 100 of them by time I left the groundbreaker. I even pick every lock I see.
Thanks for the feedback. My career in larceny is revived.
If you remember to look in every corner in every room and you'll have no problem
Wish there was a new game plus,
Why..
It's a simple enough game to go Thur, no need to be too overpowered
@@mikeredline27 because of some people like that feature.
@@dobelEXP, couldn't have said it better myself.
Wish in one hand and shit in another
If you play on PC, you can always open the console and make any cheat adjustments that you like.
Get inspiration to 60 ASAP for that sweet companion skill boost.
please do not upgrade run speed, you have toons of points for travel, you going to be seing a load screen much more than you going to be running, unless you using a melee character, then is a must have ability
Guillermo Troisi unless you’re on Supernova. Then it’s a must. No fast travel points except to your ship
Paxton Freeman unless your speed running supernova then there’s no point since there’s fast travel points everywhere if your not on nova
Yes I know what you mean about the robot phobia; however with a 100 percent in lockpick and hack you can really save your self some trouble at the end.
Main thing I want is a third person view option for this game, I love the game and have enjoyed playing it alot but damn it all I want that third person camera lol.
Third person is so 1990's
If you want to get as much of the content as possible from the game per playthrough then do side quests first. If anything is asking for you to choose between factions put that quest to the side so you can have good relations with everyone and do all the quests possible
04:30 I had no idea what those other slots were for, I thought there was some way to select them in combat that I didn't know about
The other thing they don’t tell you is that the game will automatically replace any exhausted items with items that do the same thing. Kind of frustrating, honestly.
Temp boost your dialog skills imp faction rep for best prices in shops.
Carry and swap hats and clothes (0.0 or 1.0 weight) for situational skill boosts.
Protip : Have companions that rise your engineering lowers the tinkering cost.
Kuroganemk2 Another pro tip: get the perk where if you repair an item theres a chance that it will become pristine. Increasing its value to sell.
that moment i realized i had enough ammo to shoot my way into and out of the capital on terra 2... no companion quests left incomplete.
How do i hydrate ..? Where do i find water?
Thankyou for the tips! I really appreciate knowing about the sorting and companions' helmet!
Just got the game and it’s amazing. I love how much it reminds me of Fallout.
Its way better than fallout
@@LincolnClay98 ehhh Idk about that , def has a better feel to it, imagine fallout with the same design as this
The dialogue choices and rebuttal are fucking hilarious! 😂
