Mariah is called the queen of riffs and runs for a reason. She can use it perfectly fit with the melody. There are so many singers that can do riffs and runs but it sounded different, like when Mariah does it, you barely notice it until you try singing it yourself, while others, ypu can clearly hear them doing it. This can cause them to do it too much that can also leads to oversinging. I'm not saying that they're not good, bcs compared to Mariah, she has done them masterfully😅. She used it as the song itself, not only as a flavour like other singers. Clear example will be "My All".
