He downplayed the involvement of the other governments. Iran and the houthis are not the same Shia, they've had established connections way back in the 90s, the south has constantly been occupied british/soviets.
Apparently they move in areas where there is no presence of Houthis, South Transitional Government or Yemeni Government and they effectively take the responsibility of governance. A few years back, there were videos of Al-Qaeda in Yemen fixing pipes, roofs and other infrastructure while everyone was busy fighting each other. They themselves apparently are content to avoid fighting if they can.
Well, look at the terrain.... The country is almost as mountainous as Afghanistan, so it should be no surprise that the terrorists would make it their salvation.

The determining factors for the current “mess” in this particular region are European colonialism, Western imperialism, interventionism, the Cold War and US global hegemony. These factors are NOT thousands of years old, only a couple of centuries since the 1800s.

I didn't understand why there were so few international attempts to solve the Yemen problem. Now I see Yemen as very complex and diverse. And when there is no other religion they fight among themselves. If middle east needs peace people should either leave islam or at least follow only good things and reject the violence part. But the problem with islam is it does not allow to rectify any unwanted things in quran.

I am British and having lived in the country, its people mean a lot to me, even decades after my time there. Yemen’s rich culture, history, and the warmth of its people have left a profound impression on me and so many who have had the privilege of experiencing it firsthand. The current situation is heartbreaking, especially knowing how much potential and beauty the nation holds. My prayers and wishes for peace resonate with those of countless others who long to see Yemen restored to stability and prosperity. This is an excellent, unbiased synopsis of the situation and spreading awareness and compassion can inspire others to care and act. best explanation ive seen yet in yemen its really hard for people to understand whats going on when each mainstream media outlet puts there own spin on it and leaves out alot i didnt even know about the southern tribe people being different from the recognized government forces and ive spent a few hours reading articles watching videos and looking at maps ect so crazy smh...thank you for always putting out great informative content

Love or hate saleh, he said In the the 90s he suspects he will die killed in his country, he could have stayed in Saudia but came back knowing his life will end. One of his most famous statements is that "politics in yemen is like dancing on the head of snakes". No one in the near future will come who all the tribes will agree on like him so yemen is gone to shit for now unless they unify again.

The irony of Saleh is so strong that one must wonder how the Zaydis even accepted him to fight on their side despite all the suffering that he committed when he was in power
@@yin6287 because he’s a Zaydi himself and controlled half the Zaydi tribes. Houthis don’t represent all Zaydis, they made up less than 2% of Zaydis in Yemen and only after Saleh died did some Zaydis change sides to side with Houthi militias.
That’s how Houthis became powerful, after Saleh allied with them, some Zaydis became automatic Allies with Houthis and stayed allied to Houthis after Iran had Houthis kill Saleh when he was no longer useful.

You forgot to mention an important detail , the Houthi Rebels have attacked Saudi boarders many time including in 2009 were they broke in the Saudi territory , which caused a conflict bath then, which the Saudis ended but the Houthi's threat wasn't demolished.
And another point , The Irani program if exporting their revolution to Shia's around the middle east started from 1980's , and The Hothi's benefited from there support in 2009 & 2014 , Which explains why Saleh Allied with them , and explain their Quick expansion & also thats why Saudi Arabia Intervened , because of Iran.

Thank you for this video. Following global conflicts I often wondered who the Houthis were until I came across your video. Thank you for this short but educational video. It has helped me better understand Yemeni affairs.
The only solution to the civil war in Yemen and for the sake of peace is to go back to 2 separate states as was the case before unification in 1990. The issue was a poor unification process between North & South Yemen, that was rushed by the so called leaders at the time without due diligence. They did not bother to study the unification process, the cultural difference between the 2 countries. North was running on tribal law where as the South was running on civil law. Completely opposite sides of the same coin. Any one who thinks otherwise is miffed. The Southerners are awaiting a referendum to choose whether to remain united or to cease from the North.
"Unification" was possibly the worst thing to ever happen to Yemen. Just because two former colonies shared a name doesn't mean they're a nation that should be lumped together into a "unified" state. After all, "Yemen" didn't identify a cultural group, it just means "South".

You should do a video on the Battle of Aden. It was a huge battle that kept the Houthis from taking the entire country in the early stages of the war, and it was not adequately covered in this video.

By attacking shipping, the Houthi are sending a signal to other factions, and to all Yemenis, that the Houthi are the most legitimate faction now fighting for dominance in Yemen, IMHO. Also their cause now has worldwide attention and renewed respect within the Muslim world, I imagine. This terrific video by Kings and Generals has put the shipping attacks in perspective. The Houthi are in the middle of a protracted civil war and they've seized the situation in Gaza as an opportunity. Disrupting global trade is a side effect of what they really want, and they'll continue to attack shipping until the costs of this strategy outweigh the benefits.
Sending a signal to their own people in the north that they are legitimate, the southern Yemenis knows their games and their media is working on it, as for the Muslim world, the Houthies are trying to clean their names after all the deaths they caused and still cause in Yemen (look at the blockade on Taizz) the southerners will never forget nor forgive, only fools who love the talks of the houthies ofc they will see them as braves even tho they are fools and everyone knows about their charades. They are ruining Egypt and the Suez canal meanwhile not harming Israel not even a little bit as their port on the Mediterranean where their imports come in from Turkey and European countries. The more harm they do to the shipping lanes the expensive material become and the more harm they cause to Muslim countries. Smart people will realise this, only fools will love it.

Ali Salem AlBeid lost the battle because Ali Saleh and his Northern entourage included Southerners who were in Key government posts. Like AbduRabu Mansour Hadi who was an Army General at the time. The reason some of the Southerners helped Ali Saleh was because of the 1986 civil war in South Yemen (before unification) and, there was deep animosity between the Southerners. So, it was pay back time.

When I was working at Sam’s club in Robinson PA over the summer, every week a guy in a white van with the Southern Transitional Council emblem on his hood would buy large quantities of food and drink from our loading area. Surprisingly enough it made me more aware of the ongoing conflict.
The work that goes into these videos is immense but I'm surprised more people don't talk about how dense the information given is. At times it's just an overwhelming amount of information told at a breakneck speed and I think it would really benefit to try summarise events a bit sharper. Is it particularly necessary to indulge in the minutia of every single event leading up to the focus of a conflict? Generally it doesn't seem to aid in helping contextualise the overarching topic. It feels a lot like a wikipedia sprawl at times more than it does a visual documentary.
This video barely scratches the surface but that’s true. The video didn’t mention how Houthis were essentially a drug cartel (still are) before becoming a militia while Saleh was basically a drug runner before he got into politics.
The Houthis are not like the Yemenis in the north. They are a terrorist group and they have electronic flies that are always blazing them. As a southen yemeni, this documentray has good understanding of what happened in the country. The end of the civil war in 1994 was the beginning of an occupation era, I was around 8 years at that time and I still remember how eidul-adha that time was tasteles and I didnt understand why all men at that time looked sad and disappointed despite it was Eid time, and the thing that hurted me alot was the absence of fireworks in the market😥.
First, I'm from South Arabia and I watched this video in addition to the previous one. I have several comments on some of the misinformation in the first two videos. First, in the first video, I ignored the period that happened in the South of Arabia after Britain left the South of Arabia and the attainment of independence by the South. Second: Abdel Fattah Ismail belongs to the Yemeni governorate of Taiz and does not belong to the South Arab region. This happened as a result of a coup by the supporters of the National Front (nationalists) against the Liberation Front, which refused to add the name Yemen to the South Arab. After the victory of the Nationalists, the name Yemen was added to South Arabia in 1967. I'll complete the rest of my comments in another comment.

What I want to know is how Iran gets ballistic and cruise missiles into the Houthi controlled area. Are they smuggled in through the Southern Transitional Council Area? Or through the Strait of Tears? By flights?
Oman always plays neutral whenever a conflict occurs in the region first Gulf, 2nd Gulf War, etc. So, I think in this conflict, Iran ships weapons to Oman's coasts, and from there Yamani mediators smugglers deliver them to the Houthis. Of course, it's not easy but, those native Yamani tribesmen understand the land better than anyone.

●I am from Yemen and I will tell you something that does not appear in the media. The cause of the destruction of Yemen is the Saudi government, with the support of America. When it allied with some countries, including the UAE, in 2015, they declared war on Yemen under the pretext of eliminating the Houthis. The Houthi group was very small at that time, but Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries were bombing Yemen brutally and mercilessly, killing civilians, besieging Yemen for 8 years, and causing the death of tens of thousands of children and civilians. They were bombing wedding halls, funeral halls and everything. They were no different from Israel. Which caused the anger of the Yemeni people, and we all supported Al-Houthi until he became strong. Saudi Arabia failed in the war and Its goal in the war was to obtain Yemeni oil, and the UAE is now seizing Socotra Island.

I am British and having lived in the country, its people mean a lot to me, even decades after my time there. Yemen’s rich culture, history, and the warmth of its people have left a profound impression on me and so many who have had the privilege of experiencing it firsthand.

@@yin6287 because he’s a Zaydi himself and controlled half the Zaydi tribes. Houthis don’t represent all Zaydis, they made up less than 2% of Zaydis in Yemen and only after Saleh died did some Zaydis change sides to side with Houthi militias.
That’s how Houthis became powerful, after Saleh allied with them, some Zaydis became automatic Allies with Houthis and stayed allied to Houthis after Iran had Houthis kill Saleh when he was no longer useful.
I love how he just decided to join the other winning side of the conflict after coming back to Yemen and not too long after betrayed them

You forgot to mention an important detail , the Houthi Rebels have attacked Saudi boarders many time including in 2009 were they broke in the Saudi territory , which caused a conflict bath then, which the Saudis ended but the Houthi's threat wasn't demolished.

Following global conflicts I often wondered who the Houthis were until I came across your video.
Thank you for this short but educational video. It has helped me better understand Yemeni affairs.
The only solution to the civil war in Yemen and for the sake of peace is to go back to 2 separate states as was the case before unification in 1990. The issue was a poor unification process between North & South Yemen, that was rushed by the so called leaders at the time without due diligence. They did not bother to study the unification process, the cultural difference between the 2 countries. North was running on tribal law where as the South was running on civil law. Completely opposite sides of the same coin.
Any one who thinks otherwise is miffed.
The Southerners are awaiting a referendum to choose whether to remain united or to cease from the North.
"Unification" was possibly the worst thing to ever happen to Yemen. Just because two former colonies shared a name doesn't mean they're a nation that should be lumped together into a "unified" state. After all, "Yemen" didn't identify a cultural group, it just means "South".

By attacking shipping, the Houthi are sending a signal to other factions, and to all Yemenis, that the Houthi are the most legitimate faction now fighting for dominance in Yemen, IMHO. Also their cause now has worldwide attention and renewed respect within the Muslim world, I imagine.
This terrific video by Kings and Generals has put the shipping attacks in perspective. The Houthi are in the middle of a protracted civil war and they've seized the situation in Gaza as an opportunity. Disrupting global trade is a side effect of what they really want, and they'll continue to attack shipping until the costs of this strategy outweigh the benefits.
Sending a signal to their own people in the north that they are legitimate, the southern Yemenis knows their games and their media is working on it, as for the Muslim world, the Houthies are trying to clean their names after all the deaths they caused and still cause in Yemen (look at the blockade on Taizz) the southerners will never forget nor forgive, only fools who love the talks of the houthies ofc they will see them as braves even tho they are fools and everyone knows about their charades.
They are ruining Egypt and the Suez canal meanwhile not harming Israel not even a little bit as their port on the Mediterranean where their imports come in from Turkey and European countries.

What you failed to mention in the video is...... Ali Salem AlBeid lost the battle because Ali Saleh and his Northern entourage included Southerners who were in Key government posts. Like AbduRabu Mansour Hadi who was an Army General at the time. The reason some of the Southerners helped Ali Saleh was because of the 1986 civil war in South Yemen (before unification) and, there was deep animosity between the Southerners. So, it was pay back time.
I am a southern citizen. We are on our way to the independence of our country, especially after liberating our country from the Houthi militias affiliated with Iran.

When I was working at Sam’s club in Robinson PA over the summer, every week a guy in a white van with the Southern Transitional Council emblem on his hood would buy large quantities of food and drink from our loading area. Surprisingly enough it made me more aware of the ongoing conflict.

The work that goes into these videos is immense but I'm surprised more people don't talk about how dense the information given is.
At times it's just an overwhelming amount of information told at a breakneck speed and I think it would really benefit to try summarise events a bit sharper. Is it particularly necessary to indulge in the minutia of every single event leading up to the focus of a conflict? Generally it doesn't seem to aid in helping contextualise the overarching topic. It feels a lot like a wikipedia sprawl at times more than it does a visual documentary.

This video barely scratches the surface but that’s true. The video didn’t mention how Houthis were essentially a drug cartel (still are) before becoming a militia while Saleh was basically a drug runner before he got into politics.

They are a terrorist group that has turned against the state. The recent events in the Red Sea are nothing but agreed-upon plays. The end of the civil war in 1994 was the beginning of an occupation era, I was around 8 years at that time and I still remember how eidul-adha that time was tasteles and I didnt understand why all men at that time looked sad and disappointed despite it was Eid time, and the thing that hurted me alot was the absence of fireworks in the market😥.
First, I'm from South Arabia and I watched this video in addition to the previous one. I have several comments on some of the misinformation in the first two videos. First, in the first video, I ignored the period that happened in the South of Arabia after Britain left the South of Arabia and the attainment of independence by the South. Second: Abdel Fattah Ismail belongs to the Yemeni governorate of Taiz and does not belong to the South Arab region. This happened as a result of a coup by the supporters of the National Front (nationalists) against the Liberation Front, which refused to add the name Yemen to the South Arab. After the victory of the Nationalists, the name Yemen was added to South Arabia in 1967. I'll complete the rest of my comments in another comment.
Regarding the false information in this video, it is enough to know that you justify Iran’s use of the Houthis, while on the other hand you openly attack the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by saying (and the Saudi interventions in Yemen continue!!). I think this contradiction is considered the greatest evidence of your channel’s tendencies and that it is not neutral, but rather serves. Iran's agenda. The second matter: Regarding terrorism and its presence in the south, you must know that we (the people of South Arabia) are the ones who have suffered the most from this terrorist organization and that those who are fighting the terrorists are our southern forces that are affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council. Oman always plays neutral whenever a conflict occurs in the region first Gulf, 2nd Gulf War, etc. So, I think in this conflict, Iran ships weapons to Oman's coasts, and from there Yamani mediators smugglers deliver them to the Houthis. Of course, it's not easy but, those native Yamani tribesmen understand the land better than anyone.

When it allied with some countries, including the UAE, in 2015, they declared war on Yemen under the pretext of eliminating the Houthis. The Houthi group was very small at that time, but Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries were bombing Yemen brutally and mercilessly, killing civilians, besieging Yemen for 8 years, and causing the death of tens of thousands of children and civilians. They were bombing wedding halls, funeral halls and everything. They were no different from Israel. Which caused the anger of the Yemeni people, and we all supported Al-Houthi until he became strong. Saudi Arabia failed in the war and Its goal in the war was to obtain Yemeni oil, and the UAE is now seizing Socotra Island.

This is real and true. I was a us marine on a ship that got fired on by the houthis around 2017 and Saudi and UAE aircraft bombed the absolute crap out of that coast line. I’ve never seen such bombing before and I grew up in a good nice neighborhood. It’s horrific
