Two great legends of darts, playing with respect and proper darts etiquette. These two could have played with anyone on the PDC circuit, given tungsten darts, larger scoring areas and the virtual elimination of bounce-outs.
17:43. You never see that check-out on 144 anymore. They are so good on treble 20 these days. It is always 60, 60, 24. It is still my fave way to go for it. What a clean kill Jocky. He alway's was a beast at the ton plus check-outs. His top attribute. No doubt. What a player.
Wilson was a top player, no smooth throw no fancy style, smoke and drink on the stage, push all darts, he felt every match and it's a pleasure can see these videos nowadays where players are all fancy pussies.
He never would have thought that as knew Jocky Wilson was top class but he did not like to admit it when i said to him aftr he Lowe reeled of names of some Scottish players and he never mentioned Jocky Wilsons name until i put him right about that in that Jocky beat you in the Embassy World final in 1982 John ..This i said to John in the Fishermans club in Eastbourne when he sidled up beside me at bar was actually a darts bar not fishing ..but was name of club the Fisherman club and after he mentioned names of players from Scotland alike Harry heenan in 60s etc i then said Also Jocky Wilson John i recall when he won v you in the Embassy World final in 1982 ..This i said to John at bar in club in 2005 was just start of Eastbourne Open which is every year or was them days ..His wife was seated nearbye and wasnt happy what i said but o what i was only telling facts and John took one step backways although i should have mentioned time i stood up his name in toilet of a club where in 1979 he done an exhibition in Scotland and some drunk on about John Lowe he shall be up against it tonight as many good players in region he said lol ..I said yer talking rubbish as John Lowe if not best player in World he certainly is one of them and then i felt a pat on my shoulder and it happend to be John Lowe with a wry smile on his face in liking my standing up for his name ..i was only telling facts at time also And during that 1001 fly start which John began all them legs v oncomers ..he John lowe did not lose one leg of darts i recall ..Jocky Wilson was a great wee player also and them guys would win v one another i believe ..Jocky was a later starter in darts and met him 3 x times once played him as a young guy in 1978/9 and for little moneya t time ..then few months after ended up going to Wembleys conference centre and cup longer story short Jocky had asked me where seated and came across sat for a time not long back from usa playing for Scotland and usual early flight back to UK and London before he was heading back to Scotland had called into marlborough tournament in Welbleys conference centre ..Last time i met Jocky was in Angus region in Plough Inn bar and i only person walked into just opened Lounge bar and myself and bar woman in room only ..i then went opened cabinet dartboard and began throw some darts for a time then with all people in bar room for darts who comes keeps through door asking ok i have throw at board with you mate ..None other than Jocky Wilson and we throw back forth and after a time Jocky asked me u play for fife Stevie as he had asked my name i said No Jocky im too good to play for Fife ..we had some banter and fun ..he liked Eric Bristow told me ..Wish them guys wre still with us today Jocky and Eric were fun ..Anyhow life moves on and for me John Lowe had the best style of throwing a dart and best 9 darter ive seen with way he went for 141 check out ..as most go treble 20 treble 19 or 15 route ..Johns was his way treble 17 treble 18 and double 18 which was Lowes then fav double .
My whole family were watching, I remember it. Wee Jocky, what a hero to us all.
Smoking and drinking whilst playing, that's the way to do it. Jocky was class!

They're both using tungsten darts in this match. I agree with your point though

Dougaldinho Fishdinho rob Cross tried it for a nine dart finish but he failed at the double 18 :(

he is smoking on his match dart...badass times back then
Different times indeed: Jocky with a smoke in one hand playing and the crowd actually shut the f🎯ck up for the players to throw

Jocky and his good friend Bobby were up late into the night, "discussing tactics", and also getting absolutely shitfaced again.

He never would have thought that as knew Jocky Wilson was top class but he did not like to admit it when i said to him aftr he Lowe reeled of names of some Scottish players and he never mentioned Jocky Wilsons name until i put him right about that in that Jocky beat you in the Embassy World final in 1982 John ..This i said to John in the Fishermans club in Eastbourne when he sidled up beside me at bar was actually a darts bar not fishing ..but was name of club the Fisherman club and after he mentioned names of players from Scotland alike Harry heenan in 60s etc i then said Also Jocky Wilson John i recall when he won v you in the Embassy World final in 1982 ..This i said to John at bar in club in 2005 was just start of Eastbourne Open which is every year or was them days ..His wife was seated nearbye and wasnt happy what i said but o what i was only telling facts and John took one step backways although i should have mentioned time i stood up his name in toilet of a club where in 1979 he done an exhibition in Scotland and some drunk on about John Lowe he shall be up against it tonight as many good players in region he said lol ..I said yer talking rubbish as John Lowe if not best player in World he certainly is one of them and then i felt a pat on my shoulder and it happend to be John Lowe with a wry smile on his face in liking my standing up for his name ..i was only telling facts at time also
And during that 1001 fly start which John began all them legs v oncomers ..he John lowe did not lose one leg of darts i recall ..Jocky Wilson was a great wee player also and them guys would win v one another i believe ..Jocky was a later starter in darts and met him 3 x times once played him as a young guy in 1978/9 and for little moneya t time ..then few months after ended up going to Wembleys conference centre and cup longer story short Jocky had asked me where seated and came across sat for a time not long back from usa playing for Scotland and usual early flight back to UK and London before he was heading back to Scotland had called into marlborough tournament in Welbleys conference centre ..Last time i met Jocky was in Angus region in Plough Inn bar and i only person walked into just opened Lounge bar and myself and bar woman in room only ..i then went opened cabinet dartboard and began throw some darts for a time then with all people in bar room for darts who comes keeps through door asking ok i have throw at board with you mate ..None other than Jocky Wilson and we throw back forth and after a time Jocky asked me u play for fife Stevie as he had asked my name
i said No Jocky im too good to play for Fife ..we had some banter and fun ..he liked Eric Bristow told me ..Wish them guys wre still with us today Jocky and Eric were fun ..Anyhow life moves on and for me John Lowe had the best style of throwing a dart and best 9 darter ive seen with way he went for 141 check out ..as most go treble 20 treble 19 or 15 route ..Johns was his way treble 17 treble 18 and double 18 which was Lowes then fav double .
