Hans Christian Andersen was here + living in his hometown

  • In this video I'd like to share a little about my hometown, which also happens to be Hans Christian Andersen's hometown. I'll take you for a walk down some of the old streets that existed in his day and that are still frequented today, by locals and tourists alike. Odense is of course much more than that - lots of modern buildings, too, as in any city - but this video is not about that. It's about looking at the fairy tale side of things, which we ought surely to do sometimes.

    Oh dear, was like to be inside a fairytale!!!! Such beauty...not words enough. The gardens, the flowers were the first friends that made him dream and later

    The town looks lovely! We are planning to stop in Odense on our way from Copenhagen to Billund this summer. I hope it will be as peaceful as your video and not too crowded with tourists (like ourselves!). If you have any recommendations for lunch or pastries in town, I would appreciate it! Thank you!

      Oh, how lovely! You will not find it this quiet, I think, because I went early in the day. But it should be OK. There is a pedestrian zone in that part of town (you can park underneath in parking lot), so at least there is little traffic. As to cafés, there are several near Hans Christian Andersens house, e.g. Konrads in Overgade 32, which looks a bit like someone’s vintage living room and is cozy with good food and cakes. There is also a museum cafe near his house that I haven’t tried. And then there is a yarn shop close by, too: Tante Grøn. I hope you enjoy it!

      @@danishmusings I'm very excited to check out some yarn stores while I'm in Denmark & Sweden. I can't wait to feel some of the yarns you've used for your projects since I haven't seen some of them locally. There's a plant-based dyer near Billund that I am dragging my family to already so we will see how many yarn shops I can visit. 🙂I hope Konrads is open as it sounds like a lovely atmosphere. Thank you!

    Odense seems to be a very beautiful town, I really like the small and colourful danish houses and the quaint cobblestone streets. Interesting to hear that you come from Jylland, I have been there from time to time. I made a road cycling tour from Flensburg to Sonderborg in August 2022, the way along the Flensborg Fjord is amazing. Do you know that area?

      I know it a little bit. That part of Denmark is quite closely connected to Germany, culturally and linguistically speaking. Despite Denmark being so small, the different (small) regions are each somewhat distinct, also accent-wise. It took me a long time to get used to the Funen accent compared to my Jutlandic one ☺️

    • @vincentc2646
      @vincentc2646 Рік тому

      @@danishmusings In Germany, the accents are even more diverse. There are some people in Hamburg who have problems understanding people who come from Saxony. Nevertheless, this diversity is what makes our countries interesting.
      By the way: You've got such a beautiful voice, so every accent should sound lovely when you're speaking it. 🙂

    Hans Christian Andersen era um escritor de contos de fadas. Tomei conhecimento dele quando menino. Segundo os estudiosos da psicologia junguiana, os contos de fadas são expressões naturais da psicologia humana assim como a mitologia.
