I bought one at Sam’s club same problem the pilot want light So I took a some tin foil and balled up a piece like a BB and dropped it in the spring positive side that fixed it very simple fix
i returned the REAL nice looking green one because i thought it was defective. it's VERY likely it wasn't. i never thought to check this. thanks mr heater for your GREAT advertising.
Had the same issue I wadded up a piece of steel wood about the size of a q tip end and put it in the cap to complete the circuit from the AAA battery and it works till I get the proper cap from Buddy heater
I bought one from Sam’s on 9-4-24, and it did the same thing wouldn’t light. It came with a battery, and we put the battery in correctly, has the cap with a spring. Still wouldn’t work. We were camping at the time, and about froze at night in the tent. Our fault, I know for not trying it before camping. Going to call the company this morning.
OK ... I was just going to try the tin foil fix and husband just turned the AAA battery over so the flat side went in first ... it worked. Usually the spring goes on the flat side of the battery ... but not this one I guess. Thanks for your video!
I bought a Mr Heater this evening and I’ve spent hours trying to get it to light. The bottom of my heater looks different than yours , I don’t see where there could be a battery nor does it mention a battery in the manual. At this point I’m freezing. Any other ideas?
You can hold down the pilot switch & light the heater with a lighter. If your propane is rolling then you should be able to turn it on with a lighter since the spark isn’t lighting. The manual for the big buddy does a bad job at explaining the battery concept. You don’t see any small black cap underneath your heater? Call mr heater and ask them what’s going on.

From Sydney Australia
I had the same problem. Fixed it by folding a piece of aluminum foil several times into a small square and putting it inside the battery cap.
Perfect thanks for the help 👍

You know you bought a piece of shit when you have to do maintenance on it before the first use.
Just balled up small aluminum ball , and contact with lid..... screwed back on, and lit....
Does that Mr. Buddy unit that you fixed with the replacement battery compartment cap come with a built in fan?
Yes it does, but you need 4 batteries or a cable to power the built in fan. Mine came with a cord that connects to the wall
Never knew😮
That may be what is wrong with ours ... no spark at all.

I should not have to order a part for a brand new product I just bought it and it will not work
Well shit! Sitting here without power and mine won’t work.
Hold down the pilot button, while lighting the spark Orpheus with a lighter
