R.I.P. Frank Navetta. The man deserved way more credit. He passed with little more than a footnote in the music press earlier this year. I wish there were more than 2 songs of this early 3-piece line up. This is THE SOUND of So. Cal beach punk.
my uncle and the coolest strangest dude who ever loved me as I am. honor him every Halloween..... he actually chose Halloween as his preferred exit day long before that was his case....... can you believe this shit Franky I mean our puksident. I love and miss you, .... I'm about to meditate... after bong hits I hope to see you in the whhhhhhooooaasss zone. you owe me a visit
I thought this was misplaced in the lineup, because I thought it was from the '60s, by another Descendants. I didn't know much about them until recently, although I've heard their music. Incredible band story and Incredible music!
johnnyscifi Yeah , come to think of it- I never saw Tony outside of the "Church" practicing! And so the puzzle continues to collect the pieces even after 'decades'! Thanx Bro-Greg!
THAT A GIRL!!! yaaaa it changed mine too ! the band did the music did! inspires me and makes me think of just good things and love !!! I've not met but maybe a few woman who know or remember this stuff it's too bad ! I'm still looking tho! sure wouldn't mind meeting a girl who could appreciate the finer things in life like the descendents
You messed around with all my friends and everyone you see But you're trying to ride the wild when you mess around with me And all my friends tell me they see you out on the town They all look down upon you with some pity and a frown Bank shot baby, I saw through your eyes I see you run around with a thousand other guys Tell them all your newly-thought-up lies You don't want to be wanted by someone else, new If you can't show some love for me Then I don't want to see you Girl, you got me runnin', why can't you see? Now lately when I wake, it's on the wrong side of the bed And I know your voice distinctly, it reverberates in my head And all my friends tell me they see you out on the town Tryin' to ride the wild, but the words been passed around Ride the wild, baby You like to ride all night Ride the wild, baby I'm sure you're not so tired Come on, baby, now give me a try You don't want to be wanted by someone else, new If you can't trust a liar then I don't want to trust you Girl, you got me runnin', why can't you see? Ride the wild, baby You like to ride all night Ride the wild, baby I'm sure you're not so tired Come on, baby, now give me a try You don't want to be wanted by someone else, new If you can't trust a liar, then I don't want to trust you Girl, you got me runnin'

Bill Stevenson you are totally unsung in SOCAL punk. Sadly. You're the fucking man. Just like Bobby Schayer. Really. It's like Krupa and Guy and Lionel Hampton, all over again!!!! FUCKING AWESOME!

Incredible band story and Incredible music!
This is so easily my favourite Descendents song
I love the surf lead in this song, could listen to all day long.
yup sure can
This is damn good, especially when you consider that Bill was in Mira Costa H.S. the same time as I was-High school kids put this out-AWESOME !
Except Tony. He was quite a bit older than the rest..;)

It's super influenced by The Last.
anyone who digs these early descendents tracks should definitely check out the Urinals.
This song changed my fucking life.

I like this, but im glad Milo joined.

I remember I had like four 120minute tape's that was filled with all the Descendents stuff and i had these songs on there. Feels like High School!!!

Awesome guitar tone, it has that cleanness with a bit of distortion
i'd say one of the best punk songs of all time
easily one of my fav Descendents tunes
I have this gem on original vinyl...still after 40 + years:)
Fuck yeah, one of my favorite songs by them.
Glad I've got this on the "Two Things At Once" cassette.
I've never had the chance to visit So. Cal, but this song has always been a part of my world over here in NY. amazing.
i havent heard this in a long time, then i started strumming this on my guitar and it reminded me of this song so I looked it up here...
What a great song----appreciate the posting!!!!
Great tune. Cool lyrics too.
has that real surfy punk sound
good stuff old so cal...
"One of"... are the key words here.
I'm thinking I'm going to cop this entire LP. The vibe it had was hella Dope. Always been a fan of their earlier work. 👊
Great song....love the bassline
This is the first song from the Descendents
This is the first line-up and the first single. Milo wasnt a member of the band until 1980.
Good thing they didn’t go too long without him…. They wouldn’t be what they are today.
@margherita953 Tony and Frank shared singing on this album (Frank - this tune, Tony - It’s a Hectic World)
Damm I grew up to this hearing it riding my bmx with my boys on they're skateboards
Descendents of the day!
*Ride the Wild*
Nice one - much more Buzzcocks than Black Flag :)
Really more The Last.
Bill Stevenson you are totally unsung in SOCAL punk. Sadly. You're the fucking man. Just like Bobby Schayer. Really. It's like Krupa and Guy and Lionel Hampton, all over again!!!! FUCKING AWESOME!
This is before he joined.
IDK why, but Frank Navetta always sounded Australian to me here.
Sounds reminiscent of the Riptides (Australian band same era).
great song, considering they didn't yet have milo i'd say it's damned catchy
@harrisonbiden i totally agree!!!!!
Absolute classic :) Thanks kevin171994
What are the chords?
The chorus is just Eb Bb and C
And the second part ("you don't want to be wanted...") is Eb Bb F
I know the back story on this tune and I'm not tellin. R.I.P Frank.
Robert Jackson ok, it’s been 9 years. Tell me
@@zackstaal5965 I read in a comment section somewhere that the song was about Frank's girlfriend at the time, Lydia I think her name was
@@kurisupikurimu1866 I've seen the same comment, can confirm this exists and the name is correct.
Anyone want a tab for it
without milo, descendents are not the same
@aquietmindtv
damn you for not telling!! haha
I wouldn't be here if I didn't like the song, but "one of the best punk songs of all time",? C'mon now.
why the heck not?
i agree!
